City reminds residents of election sign placement rules

The City of Salina is reminding residents of city regulations concerning the placement of temporary election signs. Following is information provide by the city.

Single-Family Residential Lots

On private property – an unlimited number of election signs may be placed, but no sign may exceed 8 sq. ft.

On public right-of-way, abutting your own property – an unlimited number of signs may be placed, but no sign may exceed 8 sq. ft. in size.

Apartment Complexes, Nursing Homes, Commercial and Industrial Lots

On private property - up to two signs may be placed, 32 sq. ft. in size, and an unlimited number of signs 8 sq. ft. or less.

On public right-of-way – an unlimited number of signs may be placed, but no individual sign may exceed 8 sq. ft. in size.

Right-of-Way Information

No sign in the right-of-way may exceed 8 sq. ft., regardless of abutting zoning or use.

No sign in the right-of-way may be located in a vision clearance triangle or obstruct visibility at an intersection.

Signs may only be placed in the right-of-way by the property owner abutting the right-of-way or with the permission of the abutting owner. Signs cannot be placed in street medians, or in the right-ofway abutting parks or recreation facilities.

Signs may not be placed on utility poles, street light poles, benches or trees in the public right-of-way.
