JOHNSON COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities are investigating a reported arson fire and shooting at a Kansas home.

Just before 4a.m. Friday, a homeowner near West 158th Terrance and Woodson in Overland Park  observed a white compact car park in front of his residence, according to Overland Park Police Officer John Lacy

The homeowner felt suspicious and observed the driver exit the vehicle and walk toward the backyard of a home in the 15700 block of Outlook.

The witness heard glass breakage and observed a flame from the house. The witness said he then saw the suspect running back toward the white compact car.

The witness advised he pointed his firearm toward the suspect who was wearing a mask and gave several commands to stop, however the suspect did not comply and entered the vehicle.  As the suspect left west on West 158 Terrance, the witness fired several rounds at the vehicle as it departed.

It is unknown whether the suspect was struck, according to Lacy. The two adults and two children inside the home were not injured. Overland Park Fire responded to the scene and distinguished the small fire.
