KEARNEY, Neb. - After three consecutive meet titles to open up the 2020 season, the number three nationally ranked Cloud County Community College women's cross country would finish as runners up in the 2020 University of Nebraska Kearney Invitational held at Meadowlark Hills Golf Course in Kearney, Neb. on Friday.
The second place finish would come as the T-Birds would battle host UNK for the team title and come up just short with 35 points while the Lopers would win the four-team meet with 31 points. Hutchinson Community College would take third with 77 points while Dodge City would close out the score with 82 team points.
Posting her second-best time of the season in a 5K meet, sophomore Patricia Koma would take third overall in the individual race with a time of 19:04.40 to finish as one of four Cloud County runners finishing in the top-10. Earning her first top-five finish this season would be Pamela Milano by taking fifth with a season-best time of 19:27.40 while Maryse Mbenoun came in sixth with a time of 19:28.40. CCCC's other top-10 would come from sophomore Kya Johnson in a time of 19:49.20 while Abbey Hoover took 16th overall with a time of 20:43.90. Abigail Fisher would also compete for the T-Birds on Friday, taking 23rd with a time of 22:31.20.
What's next?
With the regular-season now complete, Cloud County will be off for the next 11 days in preparation for the 2020 NJCAA Region VI Championships. The meet, which is being hosted by Butler Community College in El Dorado is being ran at the same course as this year's Ollie Isom Invitational which Cloud County won with seven of the top-15 finishers.
