KANSAS CITY—A man is facing charges for a shooting that took place in south Kansas City neighborhood of Waldo the last week of July.
Ivory J. Bridgewater faces 1st Degree Assault and Armed Criminal Action, according to Jackson County Prosecutor Melesa Johnson. If convicted, he could face life in prison.
On July 28, according to court records, Kansas City police were dispatched to the 7400 block of Wornall Road on a shooting and found the victim with apparent gunshot wounds. He was transported to a local hospital with life threatening injuries. As of Friday afternoon he was listed in critical but stable condition, with six gunshot wounds to his back.
Detectives reviewed surveillance footage from the incident, which showed the victim, identified in court records and the boyfriend of Bridgwater's former longtime girlfriend, standing outside a vehicle when a blue Tesla pulled into the parking lot and stopped in front of the vehicle the victim was standing next to.
The Tesla stays parked there for a few minutes and then the victim turns to walk away from the vehicle. Bridgwater exited the Tesla and began firing shots at the victim and then fled the scene.
Bridgewater was arrested in Tukwila, Washington by the Tukwila Police Department Thursday night and is being transported back to Jackson County, where he will be held without bond.
