SEDGWICK COUNTY —The trial for a man accused in a double-murder in a Wichita parking garage began on Monday, according to the Sedgwick County District Attorney's office.
Zachary Ramirez 19, of Maize, is charged with two counts of first-degree murder in the commission of a felony, One count of first-degree murder; intentional and premeditated, One count of first-degree murder; unknown circumstances, Two counts of battery, Aggravated battery and Criminal discharges of a firearm at an occupied vehicle, according to the District Attorney's office.
Just before 4a.m. July 27, police responded to the 300 block of North Moore after a a street sweeper operator saw two gunshot victims in a vehicle in a parking garage in Wichita's Old Town and called 911, according to Officer Kris Gupilan.
EMS and fire arrived on the scene and attempted life-saving measures, but the victims identified as 20-year-old Josephina Lerma-Dominguez and 21-year-old Bryan Lara-Hernandez both of Wichita died at the scene.
Ramirez remains jailed on a $2 million dollar bond, according to online jail records.
