SHAWNEE COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities are investigating a Kansas felon after an early morning traffic stop.

Just after 2a.m. Monday,  a deputy conducted a traffic stop on white 1996 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck at North Kansas Avenue and NE Fairchild Street for a broken taillight, according to Deputy Abigail Christian.

As the officer approached the pickup truck, the driver later identified as 22-year-old Austin D. Reisinger sped away, struck a curb and fled from the pickup on foot.

Within minutes, deputies located Reisinger and took him into custody. During the investigation, deputies found a loaded firearm and drug paraphernalia inside the pickup truck.

Reisinger was booked into the Shawnee County Department of Corrections on requested charges of felon in possession of a firearm, possession of drug paraphernalia, flee and elude and multiple traffic offenses.
