FINNEY COUNTY —On New Year’s night, Officers swiftly intervened in an aggravated assault involving a man with a handgun, who faces multiple charges from the incident.
Around 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Officers responded to a report of an aggravated assault in progress on the west side of Garden City, according to a media release.
After arriving, Officers spoke with a woman and learned she had been involved in an altercation with a man known to her, identified as 28-year-old Francisco Rosas.
The investigation revealed that Rosas allegedly pointed a gun at the victim while trying to take her phone to prevent her from calling the police. He also allegedly restrained her by force from leaving the home before he fled the scene.
Officers quickly located Rosas at his residence, where he was taken into custody without incident. Officers also recovered the handgun believed to have been used in the incident. Rosas is being held in the Finney County Jail on requested charges of Aggravated Assault, Aggravated Kidnapping, Aggravated Intimidation of a Witness, Domestic Battery, and Interference of a Law Enforcement Officer.
