COFFEY COUNTY —One person died in an accident just after 8:30p.m. Friday in Coffey County.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2015 Toyota Highlander driven by Anita M. Morgan, 80, Lebo, was southbound in the northbound lanes of Interstate 35 at U.S. 75. The SUV struck a northbound 2024 Freightliner semi head-on. After impact the semi came to rest on its side blocking both southbound lanes.
Morgan was pronounced dead at the scene and was transported to Frontier Forensics. The semi driver Wilfred O. Orenge, 42, New Hope, Minnesota, was not injured. Both drivers were properly restrained, according to the KHP.
