
SHAWNEE COUNTY—Law enforcement are investigating an officer-involved shooting in Topeka.
Just after 11:45p.m Thursday, police responded to investigate a call for of a domestic disturbance at a home in the 1500 block of SW 24th Street in Topeka, according to police spokesman Daniel Garrett.
Just before 1a.m. Friday, police attempted to make contact with the suspect. Officers announced their presence, and the individual reportedly began shooting from the home. The officers then discharged their weapons in response. The suspect, an adult male, then surrendered to officers at the scene, and was taken into custody. The suspect was not injured, and a firearm was found at the scene.
TPD requested the Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI) to investigate the incident. Per policy, the involved Topeka officers have been placed on administrative leave.
