JOHNSON COUNTY —Law enforcement have released the name of the man who died in an accident just after 3:30a.m. Saturday in Johnson County as 45-year-old Michael L. Martens of Overland Park, according to a statement from Overland Park Police.
According to Officer John Lacy, a vehicle was northbound on Interstate 35, merging onto the eastbound Interstate 435 highway on-ramp.
Upon entering eastbound Interstate 435 highway, the driver changed lanes to the left. After moving into the number three lane, the vehicle struck Mar who was walking westbound within that same lane.
Following the initial collision, a second vehicle struck the pedestrian, who was lying in the roadway. The pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene. Both drivers stayed at the scene and are cooperating with the investigation, according to Lacy. Police did not released the name of the victim or additional details.
