Police: 70 cats, kittens found at Kansas home

SHAWNEE COUNTY —Law enforcement are investigating alleged animal neglect at a home in northeast Kansas.

Just after 1:30p.m. Wednesday, police animal control officers responded to an animal neglect call in the 5300 block of SW 10th Avenue in Topeka, according to a media release from police.

Upon arrival, officers located a significant number of cats and kittens within one residence. Over 70 cats and kittens were surrendered by the owner and have since been transported to the Helping Hands Humane Society of Topeka.
