Police: Robbery suspect arrested after standoff at Kansas home

SHAWNEE COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a suspect on multiple charges after an arrest.

Just after 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, police went to an address in the 2100 block of SW Huntoon Street in Topeka to try and locate a wanted person stemming from an aggravated battery investigation, according to Lt. Edward Stanley.

Officers observed the subject identified as 19-year-old Michael O. Bennett II enter into a residence but he refused to come out of the home.

The Topeka Police Department Response Team and Crisis Negotiations Team were summoned to the scene, and the subject was subsequently arrested without incident.

 Bennett was booked in to the Shawnee County Department of Corrections on requested charges of Aggravated Battery, Aggravated Robbery and Interference with a Law Enforcement Officer.
