WILSON COUNTY—One person died in an accident just after 8p.m. Monday in Wilson County.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2013 Ford Explorer driven byHeather I. Vanleeuwen, 33, Savonburg, Kansas, was eastbound on Kansas 39 Highway in central Wilson County.
The SUV traveled into the westbound lane and struck the front driver corner of a 2022 Kenworth semi driven by Ruslan Shcherbakov 34, Cary, Illinois. After impact the SUV traveled off the road and overturned.
Vanleeuwen died of her injuries and was transported to Wickham Funeral Home in Chanute. Shcherbakov was not injured. Both drivers were properly restrained, according to the KHP.
