RICE COUNTy — A vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed crashed into a Rice County barbershop Sunday afternoon, causing significant structural damage to the building, according to the Rice County Sheriff’s Office.
Just after 5p.m., sheriff's deputies were dispatched at Hairtenders, 100 East Avenue S in Lyons, following a report of a vehicle crash. When deputies arrived, they found the vehicle had struck the building and was partially inside the structure.

A male driver was taken into custody on multiple traffic and criminal charges. He was being held in the Rice County Detention Center in lieu of bond. The sheriff’s office did not release the man’s name or provide additional details about the charges.
There were no injuries reported.
“Driving under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or any impairing substance is extremely dangerous,” Rice County Sheriff Nick Sowers said in a statement. “Impaired driving puts innocent people at risk and can quickly turn a poor decision into a tragedy. Our office will continue working to identify and remove impaired drivers from our roadways before someone is seriously injured or killed.”
