WYANDOTTE COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities investigating a fatal shooting have identified the victim as 20-year-old Sergio Ramirez of Kansas City, Kansas, according to a media release.
Just after 6p.m. Tuesday, police were dispatched a report of gunshots in the area of N. 18th Street and Parallel Pkwy.
An officer was flagged down a short distance from the scene and advised that someone was shot. EMS transported one victim to an area hospital with life threatening injuries. He remains hospitalized in critical condition, according to police.
A second victim, later identified as Ramirez was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The KCKPD Major Case Unit in in charge of the investigation. Police released no additional details.
