During the investigation, detectives discovered a detention deputy had been involved in neglect of an inmate, according to Easter.  Officials determined there was enough probable cause to arrest and book Detention deputy David Cameron on requested charges of mistreatment of a confined prisoner and for trafficking contraband.

Investigators recovered four cell phones, K2, tobacco, marijuana and a lighter, according to Easter.

In one jail pod where the contraband was introduced, investigators conducted interviews and there are more interviews to do before charges will be presented to the district attorney's office.

Cameron, began employment with the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office in June of 2019 and has been placed on unpaid suspension, according to Easter.
