COWLEY COUNTY—Authorities have identified human remains found by a pond in rural Cowley County earlier this week.
According to Cowley County Sheriff Dave Feletti, an autopsy was performed on the remains. The body has been identified as that of 39-year-old Emile Porterfield-Hill.
Hill had been reported missing from Sumner County July 17. The manner of death has been ruled as pending investigation, but early indications do not show any signs of obvious acute injuries, according to Sheriff Faletti.
Just before 3p.m. Wednesday, deputies with the Cowley County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a private residence in the Southwest portion of Cowley County for the report of a possible human body by a pond, according to Sheriff Faletti.
When Deputies arrived, the homeowner took them to the location where the remains were located. The Arkansas City Fire Department assisted by retrieving the remains.
