KANSAS CITY —Law enforcement investigating another homicide in Kansas City have identified the victim as 26-year-old Mikeal B. Copenhaver, according to KCPD Sergeant Phil Dimartino.
Just after 10p.m. Thursday, patrol officers were dispatched to the 4300 block of Northern on a reported disturbance, according to KCPD Sergeant Phil DiMartino.
While officers were on the way to the scene, they received information that other callers reported sounds of gunshots and a shooting in the area.
As officers arrived they were directed to the outside of an apartment building. There they located a victim later identified as Copenhaver suffering from gunshot wounds.
KCFD EMS responded to the scene and pronounced him deceased. Officers located an additional adult male victim on scene suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital with non life threatening injuries.
This is being investigated as a homicide. Preliminary information revealed there was a disturbance between several individuals that led to shots being fired and the Copenhaver being struck.
