Registered offender jailed after standoff at Kansas home

JACKSON COUNTY—Law enforcement are investigating a violent Kansas offender on new allegations after an arrest.

Just after 1p.m. Tuesday,  Sheriff Deputies responded to a residence to check the welfare of a minor child at 318 Friend Street in the City of Soldier, according to Sheriff Tim Morse.

Deputies encountered a man behind the residence who barricaded himself inside a camping trailer. Deputies identified the man as Jose L. P. Alacantar Jr., 52, of Holton.

Alacantar was wanted for a parole violation. He was on parole for aggravated assault with a weapon. Shortly before 5:30 P.M. Alacantar surrendered to deputies. Alacantar is being held in the Jackson County Jail for the felony warrant and requested charges that include interference with law enforcement and registered offender violations.  He has been registered since January for a conviction in Allen County for felony aggravated assault, use of a deadly weapon, according to the offender registry.
