Man accused in fatal chase, crash that killed Kansas woman

JACKSON COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities investigating a 2021  high-speed chase and crash that killed a Kansas woman have made an arrest.

On Sunday, Robert Eugene Love Jr., 44, of Auburn, Kansas was arrested on a Jackson County warrant for first degree murder, according to Sheriff Tim Morse.

In May of 2021, Holton, Kansas police initiated a pursuit involving Love. The pursuit ended at the intersection of 286th and U.S. Highway 75 when the vehicle Love was allegedly driving struck a southbound vehicle.

A passenger in Love’s vehicle, Shai Boyd was killed in the incident. Shawnee County Sheriff Deputies located Love in Shawnee County and Love is currently being held in the Jackson County Jail.

Love is being held on requested charges that include murder in the 1st degree, aggravated battery while driving under the influence, aggravated battery while driving under the influence,  fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer, interference with law enforcement, driving while suspended,  driving while a habitual violator, reckless driving,  illegal display of a license plate,  driving on left in no-passing zone,  improper or unsafe turn, speeding and  failure to yield at stop sign or yield sign.
