
KANSAS CITY——Authorities are working to determine the cause of an apartment fire in Kansas City, Missouri.
Just after 5a.m. Friday, the Kansas City Fire Department responded to a reported apartment fire in the 2400 block of E 9th Street, according to Battalion Chief Michael Hopkins.
Crews reported heavy fire from a 3-story apartment building on arrival, with fire through the roof of the structure. Offensive operations were initiated with four handlines being advanced into the structure.

During searches, KCFD companies found 3 victims and brought them out safely. Additional searches came back "all clear." Crews did pull out of the structure and went defensive for a short period while they used the aerial to extinguish fire on the upper level. Companies did return inside with handlines to continue with search and overhaul. The fire was brought under contro lat 5:40 a.m. Red Cross was ordered for 2 adults and 1 child. There were no injuries.
