KANSAS CITY —A criminal investigation into Platte County Prosecutor Eric Zahnd, who died suddenly on Thursday, continues.
The Platte County Sheriff requested the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Division of Drug and Crime Control (DDCC) investigate criminal allegations against Prosecutor Eric Zahnd, according to a statement from the Patrol.
"This investigation is still considered active and ongoing. To protect the integrity of the investigation, no further comment can me made at this time," according to the MSHP.
Zahnd served as the Platte County Prosecuting Attorney since 2003, according to the county's web site. He was the longest-serving prosecutor in the county’s history and the Kansas City metro area.
