SEDGWICK COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities are investigating another deadly shooting in Wichita and have made two arrests.

Just after 4p.m. Thursday, police responded to a shooting in the 1400 block of South George Washington Blvd. in&nbsp; Wichita, according to Police Lt. Aaron Moses.

 The victim, identified as 42-year-old Candace Amack of Wichita, was found outside of a residence, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. She was&nbsp; was pronounced deceased on the scene.

Employing FLOCK, cutting-edge technology, Wichita Police Officers were able to identify a possible suspect vehicle leaving the area after the reported shooting.

Officers quickly identified and located the vehicle at a residence in the 1300 block of North Jackson in Wichita. In collaboration with the Kansas Highway Patrol air section, the Wichita Police Department coordinated efforts resulting in the safe apprehension of the suspects at approximately 7:45 pm near 13th and Hydraulic on a vehicle stop.

 Two individuals identified from the daily booking report as 24-year-old&nbsp;Jose Velazquez-Carillo&nbsp; and 33-year-old Martin Velazquez-Villa were detained without incident and later arrested on requested charges of First-Degree Murder.

 FBI still seeks photos and video from shooting at Chiefs rally

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP)— Missile fire apparently targeted a ship Friday off&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/hub/yemen">Yemen</a>&nbsp;in the Red Sea, the latest attack suspected to have been carried out by Yemen’s&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/hub/houthis">Houthi rebels</a>&nbsp;amid Israel’s war on Hamas in the Gaza Strip.

The vessel’s captain reported an explosion nearby the ship in the Red Sea off the Yemeni city of Mocha, the British military’s United Kingdom Maritime Trade Organization center said.

“The crew and the vessel are reported safe,” the UKMTO said.

It did not immediately identify the vessel targeted.

Yemen’s Houthi rebels did not immediately acknowledge carrying out the attack. However, the rebels typically take several hours before claiming their assaults.

Since November, the rebels have repeatedly targeted ships in the Red Sea over&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/hub/israel-hamas-war">Israel’s offensive in Gaza</a>. They have frequently targeted vessels with tenuous or no clear links to Israel, imperiling shipping in a key route for trade among Asia, the Mideast and Europe.

The U.S. and British militaries have conducted multiple rounds of airstrikes targeting the Houthis’ missile arsenals and launch sites in territory they hold.

Meanwhile, the U.S. military’s Central Command acknowledged carrying out new airstrikes targeting the Houthis on Thursday. It described hitting three mobile anti-ship cruise missiles in Houthi-controlled territory that “were prepared to launch against ships in the Red Sea.”

U.S. conducts new airstrikes targeting Iran-backed rebels

&nbsp;JACKSON COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities are investigating a suspect on drug allegations.

On Valentine's Day, a Sheriff’s Deputy conducted a traffic stop on an Infiniti FX 35 SUV on Q Road north of 150th Road, according to Sheriff Tim Morse.

The traffic stop led to the search of the vehicle.  The deputy located items believed to be drug paraphernalia and methamphetamine. The driver, Anna Lee Potts, 57, of Mayetta, was arrested and booked into the Jackson County Jail on requested charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia and no insurance.

Kansas woman caught with meth on Valentine's Day

KANSAS CITY (AP) —NBA champion and “Survivor” contestant Scot Pollard has had a heart transplant, his wife said on social media on Friday night.

“Scot has a new heart!” Dawn Pollard posted on X, formerly known as Twitter. “Surgery went well and I’ve been told the heart is big, powerful and is a perfect fit! Now on to the crucial part of recovery. Thank you to everyone for the continued prayers and support, but most of all, deepest thanks to the donor, our hero.”

Pollard, who turned 49 on Monday, needed a transplant because of damage to his heart from a virus he caught in 2021 that likely triggered a genetic condition he has known about since it killed his father at 54, when Scot was 16.&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/scot-pollard-nba-survivor-heart-transplant-d8b34f86b1a6f027ef8210c3a6ab0268">Pollard’s size complicated efforts to find a donor</a>&nbsp;with a heart big enough to fit his 6-foot-11, 260-pound body.

Earlier Friday, Dawn Pollard posted that a heart had been found.

“It’s go time!” she&nbsp;<a href="https://twitter.com/DawnMPollard/status/1758557622729408744">posted on X</a>. “Please keep the prayers coming for Scot, the surgeons, for the donor and his family who lost their loved one. This donor gave the most amazing gift of life and we are forever grateful.”

A 1997 first-round draft pick after helping Kansas reach the NCAA Sweet 16 in four straight seasons, Pollard was a useful big man off the bench for much of an NBA career that stretched over 11 years and five teams. He played 55 seconds in the Cleveland Cavaliers’ trip to the NBA Finals in 2007, and won it all the following year with the Celtics despite a season-ending ankle injury in February.

Pollard retired after that season, then dabbled in broadcasting and acting. He was a contestant on the 32nd season of “Survivor,” where he was voted out on Day 27 with eight castaways remaining.

Pollard went public with his condition last month began the process of listing himself at transplant centers. He was admitted to intensive care at Vanderbilt University Medical Center on Feb. 7.

“I’m staying here until I get a heart,” he said in a text message to The Associated Press from his Nashville, Tennessee, hospital room. “My heart got weaker. (Doctors) agree this is my best shot at getting a heart quicker.”

NEW YORK (AP) — A New York judge ruled Friday&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/trump-fraud-trial-letitia-james-biden-97077792773f1f25864a462de861a467">against Donald Trump</a>, imposing a $364 million penalty over what the judge ruled was a yearslong scheme to dupe banks and others with financial statements that inflated the former president’s wealth.

Trump also was barred from serving as an officer or director of any New York corporation for three years.

Judge Arthur Engoron issued his decision after a 2½-month trial that saw the Republican presidential front-runner bristling under oath that he was the victim of a rigged legal system.

The stiff penalty was a victory for New York Attorney General Letitia James, a Democrat, who sued Trump over what she said was not just harmless bragging but years of deceptive practices as he built the multinational collection of skyscrapers, golf courses and other properties that catapulted him to wealth, fame and the White House.

Trump’s lawyers had said even before the verdict that they would appeal.

James sued Trump in 2022 under a state law that authorizes her to investigate persistent fraud in business dealings.

The suit accused Trump and his co-defendants of routinely puffing up his financial statements to create an illusion his properties were more valuable than they really were. State lawyers said Trump exaggerated his wealth by as much as $3.6 billion one year.

By making himself seem richer, Trump qualified for better loan terms, saved on interest and was able to complete projects he might otherwise not have finished, state lawyers said.

Even before the trial began, Engoron ruled that James had proven Trump’s financial statements were fraudulent. The judge ordered some of Trump’s companies removed from his control and dissolved. An appeals court put that decision on hold.

In that earlier ruling, the judge found that, among other tricks, Trump’s financial statements had wrongly claimed his Trump Tower penthouse was nearly three times its actual size and overvalued his Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Florida, based on the idea that the property could be developed for residential use, even though he had surrendered rights to develop it for any uses but a club.

Trump, one of 40 witnesses to testify at the trial, said his financial statements actually understated his net worth and that banks did their own research and were happy with his business.

“There was no victim. There was no anything,” Trump testified in November.

During the trial, Trump called the judge “extremely hostile” and the attorney general “a political hack.” In&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/trump-fraud-lawsuit-new-york-closing-arguments-b36abe2fd695d0172e71f8ef9c5ee7f3">a six-minute diatribe</a>&nbsp;during closing arguments in January, Trump proclaimed “I am an innocent man” and called the case a “fraud on me.”

Trump and his lawyers have said the outside accountants that helped prepare the statements should’ve flagged any discrepancies and that the documents came with disclaimers that shielded him from liability. They also argued that some of the allegations were barred by the statute of limitations.

The suit is one of many legal headaches for Trump as he campaigns for a return to the White House. He&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/donald-trump-investigations-other-charges-b8b064a00caad4306fb54d2f6a320468">has been indicted four times</a>&nbsp;in the last year — accused in Georgia and Washington, D.C., of plotting to overturn his 2020 election loss to Democrat Joe Biden, in Florida of hoarding classified documents, and in Manhattan of falsifying business records related to hush money paid to porn actor Stormy Daniels on his behalf.

On Thursday, a judge confirmed Trump’s hush-money trial will start on March 25 and a judge in Atlanta heard arguments on whether to remove Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis from his Georgia&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/georgia-indictment-arraignment-trump-giuliani-c5abbd260f44947a1c01211136108bfe">election interference case</a>&nbsp;because she had a&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/fani-willis-nathan-wade-trump-indictment-493165c4614761d4b965923696134c09">personal relationship</a>&nbsp;with a special prosecutor she hired.

Those criminal accusations haven’t appeared to undermine his march toward the Republican presidential nomination, but civil litigation has threatened him financially.

On Jan. 26, a jury ordered Trump to&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/trump-carroll-defamation-trial-e4ea8b93cdeb29857864ffd8d14be888">pay $83.3 million to writer E. Jean Carroll</a>&nbsp;for defaming her after she accused him in 2019 of sexually assaulting her in a Manhattan department store in the 1990s. That’s on top of the&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/trump-rape-carroll-trial-fe68259a4b98bb3947d42af9ec83d7db">$5 million a jury awarded Carroll</a>&nbsp;in a related trial last year.

In 2022, the Trump Organization was&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/business-new-york-manhattan-donald-trump-government-and-politics-86177401a887c85ab50d8b78eb1ed397">convicted of tax fraud</a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/politics-legal-proceedings-new-york-city-donald-trump-manhattan-e2f1d01525dafb64be8738c8b4f32085">fined $1.6 million</a>&nbsp;in an unrelated criminal case for helping executives dodge taxes on extravagant perks such as Manhattan apartments and luxury cars.

James had asked the judge to impose a penalty of at least $370 million.

Engoron decided the case because neither side sought a jury and state law doesn’t allow for juries for this type of lawsuit.

Because it was civil, not criminal in nature, the case did not carry the potential of prison time.

James, who campaigned for office as a Trump critic and watchdog, started scrutinizing his business practices in March 2019 after his former personal lawyer Michael Cohen&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/88e83c32a9d54d82abe3ac52bfad22e4">testified to Congress</a>&nbsp;that Trump exaggerated his wealth on financial statements provided to Deutsche Bank while trying to obtain financing to buy the NFL’s Buffalo Bills.

James’ office previously sued Trump for misusing his own charitable foundation to further his political and business interests. Trump was ordered to pay $2 million to an array of charities as a fine and the charity, the Trump Foundation, was shut down.

Trump incorporated the Trump Organization in New York in 1981. He still owns it, but he put his assets into a revocable trust and gave up his positions as the company’s director, president and chairman when he became president, leaving management of the company to sons Eric and Donald Trump Jr.

Trump did not return to a stated leadership position upon leaving the White House in 2021, but his sons testified he’s been involved in some decision making.

Engoron had already appointed a monitor, retired federal judge Barbara Jones, to keep an eye on the company.

Charlie L Bowman, 56, faces Murder in the 2nd Degree, Armed Criminal Action and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm.

According to court records, officers for the Kansas City Police Department were dispatched to the area and found a victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the chest. She was pronounced deceased soon after responders arrived on scene.

 Officers contacted Bowman who had remained on the scene. Video footage showed a vehicle arrive at the scene with another vehicle pulling in behind it. The victim is observed getting out of the &nbsp;second vehicle and walking to the driver's door of the first vehicle, a Buick. A &nbsp;witness stated the victim had gone up to the car where the defendant was sitting and shot her twice. She tried to flee and collapsed on the sidewalk.&nbsp;

Responding Officers detained two people who were at the scene when they arrived for further investigation. Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators processed the scene for evidence and canvassed for witnesses.&nbsp; Police have not reported an arrest or additional details.

Suspect charged after Kansas City woman found dead on sidewalk

SHAWNEE COUNTY — A firefighter was injured at a house fire Thursday evening.

Just after&nbsp; 5 p.m. crews responded to a fully involved two-story house fire at&nbsp;4849 SW 17th Street in Topeka, according to Fire Department spokesperson Rosie Nichols.

After getting the fire under control, the first arriving crew exited the home to trade out air pack bottles before continuing their work. During this time, a Topeka firefighter experienced a medical emergency.

American Medical Response transported the firefighter&nbsp;to a Stormont Vail. The firefighter remains hospitalized and continues to receive care and was being monitored by hospital staff Friday afternoon, according to Fire Department Chief Alan Stahl in a media release.

Authorities are still working to determine the cause of the fire.&nbsp; The total dollar loss from the fire is $65,000.

EMS transported one firefighter&nbsp;to a local hospital.&nbsp; Authorities have not reported additional details on the cause of the fire. The firefighter was listed in stable condition late Thursday, according to Nichols.&nbsp; Check the post for additional details as they become available.

Firefighter injured battling Kan. house fire remains hospitalized

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Two juveniles were charged with crimes connected to the mass shooting at the Kansas City Chiefs’&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/super-bowl-chiefs-dynasty-kansas-city-d16a308684d97a6be2d269c8d56404be">Super Bowl rally</a>, authorities said Friday, as the city tries to recover in the aftermath of the violence.

A news release from the Jackson County Family Court said the juveniles were charged Thursday and are being detained in the county’s Juvenile Detention Center “on gun-related and resisting arrest charges.” The release said it is “anticipated that additional charges are expected in the future as the investigation by the Kansas City Police Department continues.”

No further information was released. Defendants age 17 and under in Missouri are typically adjudicated through the juvenile system, which is far more private than the system for adults. Names of the accused are not released, nor are police documents such as probable cause statements.

In cases involving serious crimes such as murder, juveniles as young as 12 can be certified for trial as adults, said Lynn Urban, a professor who chairs the Criminal Justice and Criminology Department at the University of Central Missouri.

Federal law prohibits the death penalty for anyone under age 18 at the time of the crime.

Police initially detained three juveniles but released one who they determined wasn’t involved in the shooting. Police are looking for others who may have been involved and are calling for witnesses, victims and people with cellphone video of the violence to call a dedicated hotline.

Meanwhile, Kansas Citians are turning to religious gathers, vigils and counseling to try to cope with the horror of what happened.

A mother and popular disc jockey died in the&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/chiefs-super-bowl-parade-shooting-kansas-city-d9f4466b69cbb2dfe0f007414aebe730">burst of gunfire</a>&nbsp;Wednesday as the parade and rally were concluding, and 22 others — more than half of them children — were injured. By Friday, two people remained in critical condition and one was in serious condition. Most of the injured children were out of the hospital and expected to recover.

But the emotional recovery is only just beginning in a community horrified that two juveniles could cause such trauma. Police believe a&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/chiefs-super-bowl-parade-shooting-kansas-city-62e69a17b469b854afd7bcc3f548d1fc">dispute between several people</a>&nbsp;led to the shooting.

The&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/kansas-city-chiefs-parade-shooting-dj-victim-d96b8631a92af6682b77577c2c4e98c8">slain woman</a>&nbsp;was identified by radio station KKFI-FM as Lisa Lopez-Galvan, host of “Taste of Tejano.” On Friday, a family friend, Katrina Rojas Vincent, said she could feel Lopez-Galvan's presence as she stood near the shooting site.

“Her spirit will always be here welcoming people back to this location, to not be afraid to not have any fear, to enjoy yourself and live your life,” Vincent said.

She described Lopez-Galvan as a vibrant, giving person.

“Always had that a smile ear to ear and just the positivity that she brought to our community with the music that she would play” on her radio program, Vincent said.

The Jackson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office set up in-person counseling for the traumatized. Twelve people attended Thursday, including two children, spokesman Michael Mansur said Friday. The agency also established a hotline offering counseling, but Mansur didn’t immediately have information on how many called the hotline.

The Chiefs&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/super-bowl-chiefs-dynasty-kansas-city-d16a308684d97a6be2d269c8d56404be">won their third Super Bowl in five years</a>&nbsp;Sunday, beating the San Francisco 49ers 25-22 in overtime. The two previous celebrations went off without any trouble.

On Wednesday, players rode double-decker red buses through Missouri’s largest city. The parade ended with a rally at the sprawling Union Station. It was just breaking up with shots erupted. Many people thought they were hearing fireworks. Eventually, some ducked for cover. Others leapt over barriers and sprinted, many carrying children.

Beyond the gunshot wounds, several people were treated at hospitals for injuries suffered amid the chaos. So many personal belongings were left behind that police set up a site for people to try and find what they lost.

Two men at the rally jumped on and detained someone with a gun, though police have not confirmed whether it was one of the people arrested.

Paul Contreras of Bellevue, Nebraska, said he heard a man yelling to stop someone and was able to tackle the person from behind. Contreras noticed that the person he tackled had a gun, he said, and he wasn’t sure if he might have another under a heavy jacket.

Soon, Contreras was joined by another man.

“We’re like, we got to keep him down until law enforcement gets there. Because as much as we’re fighting to keep him down, he’s fighting to get up,” Contreras, whose daughter captured it all on video, told The Associated Press.

The man who helped Contreras was&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/chiefs-super-bowl-parade-shooting-bystander-8107711b0029ab23c41ee63116383053">Trey Filter</a>. He was with his family when he heard yells of “get him.”

“We was like, ‘We got him,’” Filter, 40, of the Wichita, Kansas, area, told AP. “I’ll always remember that. And then they started screaming, ‘There’s a gun!’”

The gun fell near his wife, Casey Filter, who picked it up. By then, the fleeing person was under a dogpile.

The shooting occurred despite the presence of more than 800 police officers in the area, including on top of nearby structures, said Mayor Quinton Lucas, who attended with his wife and mother and ran for safety when the shots were fired. But he doesn’t expect to cancel the upcoming St. Patrick’s Day parade.

“We have parades all the time. I don’t think they’ll end. Certainly we recognized the&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/shooting-chiefs-parade-security-48bcd66e5998776a7167a2434dec7fd1">public safety challenges</a>&nbsp;and issues that relate to them,” Lucas said.

2 juveniles charged in deadly shooting at Chiefs parade rally

OSAGE COUNTY, Mo. —The Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Division of Drug and Crime Control announces the recovery of human remains, identified as Derek C. Holtmeyer, 35, of Linn, Missouri, according to a media release from the patrol.

Holtmeyer’s body was located on February 8, 2024, by investigators with the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Troop F/I Criminal Unit. On July 12, 2023, the family of Derek C. Holtmeyer contacted the Osage County Sheriff’s Office to report they had not had contact with him since the early morning hours of July 11, 2023. 

After taking a missing person’s report and conducting an exhaustive investigation into Holtmeyer’s disappearance, on October 13, 2023, Osage County Sheriff Michael Bonham formally requested the Missouri State Highway Patrol take over the investigation.

 At that time, the investigation into Holtmeyer’s disappearance was assigned to the Troop F/I Criminal Unit of the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Division of Drug and Crime Control.On February 8, 2024, while conducting a ground search as part of their missing person investigation, patrol investigators located human remains in a wooded area near Chamois, Missouri, in Osage County. 

On February 15, 2024, the Boone County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed the identity of the remains as Derek C. Holtmeyer, of Linn, Missouri.

 </figure>OSAGE COUNTY, Mo. —The Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Division of Drug and Crime Control announces the recovery of human remains, identified as Derek C. Holtmeyer, 35, of Linn, Missouri, according to a media release from the patrol.Holtmeyer’s body was located on February 8, 2024, by investigators with the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Troop F/I Criminal Unit. On July 12, 2023, the family of Derek C. Holtmeyer contacted the Osage County Sheriff’s Office to report they had not had contact with him since the early morning hours of July 11, 2023. After taking a missing person’s report and conducting an exhaustive investigation into Holtmeyer’s disappearance, on October 13, 2023, Osage County Sheriff Michael Bonham formally requested the Missouri State Highway Patrol take over the investigation. At that time, the investigation into Holtmeyer’s disappearance was assigned to the Troop F/I Criminal Unit of the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Division of Drug and Crime Control.On February 8, 2024, while conducting a ground search as part of their missing person investigation, patrol investigators located human remains in a wooded area near Chamois, Missouri, in Osage County. On February 15, 2024, the Boone County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed the identity of the remains as Derek C. Holtmeyer, of Linn, Missouri. The investigation into Holtmeyer’s death and disappearance is on-going. The Osage County Sheriff’s Office and the Osage County Coroner are assisting with the investigation.

Lopez-Galvan, 43, was shot Wednesday as she celebrated the Chiefs' Super Bowl win with her husband, young adult son and hundreds of thousands of other fans at the city's Union Station. Lopez-Galvan hosted “Taste of Tejano” on local radio station KKFI-FM, as Lisa G. The mother of two had deep roots&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/chiefs-super-bowl-parade-shooting-kansas-city-278e2d3e2cfece1cbe958511e54127ad">in Kansas City,</a>&nbsp;and was one of the few Latina DJs in the area.

Twenty-two others, half of whom were under 16, were wounded in the shooting. Taylor Swift donates $100,000 to family of the woman killed in Chiefs parade shooting

KANSAS CITY —A jury last week convicted a Kansas City man of four counts of Aggravated Rape in the 1st Degree for assaults of a girl under the age of 12, according to Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker.

Brandon Williams, 23, will be sentenced on April 4, but the four convictions each require sentences of Life without Parole for a period of at least 30 years or a total of 120 years.

According to court records, the victim reported being raped by the defendant repeatedly and consistently for a period of two years.

Assistant Prosecuting Attorneys Dani Sediqzad and Andrea Herron prosecuted the case on behalf of the state of Missouri.

Jury: Kansas City man guilty of violent child sex crimes

NEW YORK (AP) — The Biden administration eased some of the restrictions on banking giant Wells Fargo, saying the bank has sufficiently fixed its toxic culture after years of scandals.

The news sent Wells Fargo's stock up sharply Thursday as investors speculated that the bank, which has been kept under a tight leash by regulators for years, may be able to rebuild its reputation and start growing again. The bank's shares closed up 7.2% to $52.04, its highest level since March 2022, in extremely active trading.

The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, the regulator of big national banks like Wells Fargo, on Thursday terminated a consent order that had been in place since September 2016. The order required the bank to overhaul how it sold financial products to customers and provide additional consumer protections, as well as employee protections for whistleblowers.

That consent order was put into place after a series of newspaper and government investigations in 2016 found Wells Fargo to have a poisonous sales culture that pressured employees into selling multiple products to customers even though the products were not needed. Employees — who worked at “stores” not bank branches — were forced to open millions of unauthorized accounts. Customers had their identities stolen and their credit scores impacted. Of the millions of customers effected, a disproportionate number were non-English speaking Americans.

The scandal severely tarnished the reputation of San Francisco-based Wells Fargo, which eight years ago was considered one of the best-run banks in the country by investors and analysts.

Since the scandal broke, Wells Fargo overhauled its board of directors and management, paid more than a billion dollars in fines and penalties, and has spent eight years trying to show the public that the bad practices are a thing of the past. The scandal led to unionization efforts at some branches as employees protested how managers pushed unreasonable sales goals.

In a brief statement Thursday, the Comptroller of the Currency said that Wells Fargo's “safety and soundness” and “compliance with laws and regulations does not require the continued existence of the Order."

The decision is a major victory for Wells Fargo's management and Charles Scharf, who took over as CEO in 2019.

“Confirmation from the OCC that we have effectively implemented what was required is a result of the hard work of so many of our employees, and I’d like to thank everyone at Wells Fargo involved for their dedication to transforming how we do business,” Scharf said in a prepared statement.

Citigroup banking analyst Keith Horwitz said in a note that the OCC's decision was “positive proof” that Wells Fargo's management was making the right decisions to fix the company's culture.

There remains in place a Federal Reserve consent order against Wells Fargo as well as a requirement by the Fed that bank grow no bigger than its current size until it fixes its sales culture. The Fed declined to comment, but the OCC's decision is likely to pressure the Fed to make its own decision regarding its restrictions on Wells Fargo.

Including the Fed's order, Wells Fargo still has eight consent orders that govern its operations. That's down from 14 when Scharf took over the bank. Management says they still have work to do.

“We’ve changed the company across a number of dimensions," said Scott Powell, Well Fargo's chief operating officer, in an interview. Powell joined the bank roughly around the same time as Scharf.

KANSAS CITY —In the wake of the mass shooting at the Union Station victory celebration, the Jackson County prosecutor's office has scheduled a second counseling session for those in need on Friday, and are also offering a new hotline -- (816) 881-1540 -- for persons seeking counseling, according to Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker.

On Friday, 11;30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., counselors and service providers will be available at Redemptorist Church, 3333 Broadway (located at the corner of Linwood and Broadway). Counseling is free and will be done confidentially. Parking can be found in the circle drive or a parking lot south of the church's main entrance.

The Jackson County Prosecutor's office organized a counseling session Thursday at United Church of Christ, 205 W. 65th Street. Several persons sought counseling, including children. 

The shootings that marred the Kansas City Chief’s victory parade and rally on Wednesday marred are the type of events that can leave deep emotional trauma for persons involved or persons who witnessed the violence. 

Family members can also be greatly impacted. The prosecutor’s office has staff trained to engage individuals dealing with such emotional trauma. We also are enlisting other local agencies that provide such counseling. 

They included Kansas City Mothers In Charge, Ad Hoc Group Against Crime, the Child Protection Center and victim advocates from the prosecutor's office.

The prosecutor's office thanks United Church of Christ, located in Brookside at 205 W. 65th Street, for making space available with little notice.&nbsp;

New hotline available for counseling following rally shooting

KANSAS CITY (AP) — The Kansas City Chiefs'&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/super-bowl-chiefs-dynasty-kansas-city-d16a308684d97a6be2d269c8d56404be">Super Bowl victory</a>&nbsp;rally had just ended when fan Trey Filter heard what he initially thought was fireworks. Then someone screamed, “Get him!”

And that is how the 40-year-old wound up in widely circulated video of him tackling an armed person after the&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/chiefs-super-bowl-parade-shooting-kansas-city-62e69a17b469b854afd7bcc3f548d1fc">post-parade shooting</a>, which left&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/kansas-city-chiefs-parade-shooting-dj-victim-d96b8631a92af6682b77577c2c4e98c8">one dead</a>&nbsp;and nearly two dozen others wounded.

“I am not a big shot, you know, tough guy, but I saw the guy they were talking about tackling, and I’m just, I just I don’t know what the hell I was thinking,” said Filter, who owns an asphalt and concrete company and lives in Maize, a suburb of Wichita, Kansas.

Police said they detained three people but released one who they determined wasn’t involved, leaving two juveniles in custody. Chief Stacey Graves acknowledged the video at a news conference and said police were working to determine if the person tackled was among those detained.

Surrounded by a sea of law enforcement, including people with sniper rifles stationed on rooftops, the family had felt safe. And like many in the crowd, they assumed the rapid-fire barrage was celebratory fireworks.

But then he saw police running through the crowd and “a mess starting to unfold,” he recalled.

“So then I hear, ‘Get him!’ and I look to my left, and it wasn’t but a second and a half, maybe two seconds. And somebody was running past me, and they’re yelling, ‘Get him!’ So I jumped.”

He clipped the fleeing person, knocking his gun lose. A few feet farther, another bystander grabbed for the person. Then Filter jumped on top of him, finally knocking him down after, as Filter put it, he “broke two tackles.”

“We was like, ‘We got him.' I’ll always remember that,” Filter said. “And, then they started screaming, ‘There’s a gun.’”

The men looked for the weapon, not realizing it had been knocked loose. Casey Filter, meanwhile, had noticed that the weapon fell near her after the first failed tackle. The 39-year-old stay-at-home mom nudged it with her feet and then picked it up.

“Right out of a video game,” is how Trey Filter recalled the long-barreled weapon.

Filter also said he hit the person they tackled before police pulled him off.

When it was all over, he grabbed his hat and they made their way toward the car. He recalled that he got congratulatory “attaboys” along the way, but he did not think much of it: “I felt like I had just been in a fight.”

But then local media greeted them when they got home. By then the video was spreading far and wide.

“It’s still not processed,” Trey Filter said. “We we barely let the dogs out when we got home.”

For Casey Filter, what sticks out is how fast everything changed. The weather was gorgeous, she recalled, the fans friendly.

“It was a party until it wasn’t,” she said.

A petition circulating online calls for her husband and the other bystander to get Super Bowl rings. Trey Filter laughed at the idea.

“I’m sure there were a thousand other men there that would have done it,” he said. “We, like everyone else, are just kind of hearing about this as it unfolds.”

Bystander tells of tackling armed, fleeing person after shooting at Chiefs rally

JERUSALEM – A U.S. Coast Guard cutter, forward deployed to the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) area of responsibility, seized advanced conventional weapons and other lethal aid originating in Iran and bound to Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen from a vessel in the Arabian Sea the&nbsp; U.S. Central Command revealed in a statement Thursday.

The U.S. Coast Guard Sentinel-class fast-response cutter USCGC Clarence Sutphin Jr (WPC 1147), assigned to U.S. Naval Forces Central Command, located the vessel and boarded it in the Arabian Sea Jan. 28.

 The boarding team discovered over 200 packages that contained medium-range ballistic missile components, explosives, unmanned underwater/surface vehicle (UUV/USV) components, military-grade communication and network equipment, anti-tank guided missile launcher assemblies, and other military components.

The direct or indirect supply, sale or transfer of such aid violates U.N. Security Council Resolution 2216 (as extended and renewed by resolutions 2675 and 2707).

“This is yet another example of Iran’s malign activity in the region, ” said Gen. Michael Erik Kurilla, CENTCOM commander. “Their continued supply of advanced conventional weapons to the Houthis is in direct violation of international law and continues to undermine the safety of international shipping and the free flow of commerce.”
