PHOENIX — Scott Barlow got Christian Walker to hit into a game-ending groundout with runners on second and third, and the Kansas City Royals beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 5-4 on Tuesday night for just their second win in 11 games.

Brady Singer (2-2) rebounded from three poor starts and the Royals tied their season high with 14 hits. Every starter except Franmil Reyes had at least one hit for the Royals. Kansas City is 6-18, including 5-6 on the road but just 1-12 at Kauffman Stadium.

Corbin Carroll was a home run shy of the cycle for Arizona and stole two bases.

After allowing 18 runs over 16 innings in his prior three outings, Singer gave up one run and five hits in six innings and lowered his ERA from 8.14 to 6.67.

"I don't know if I've gotten through a first inning cleanly this year," Singer said. "I wanted to set the tone early.

"The slider was the difference. (There was) a lot better late break to that pitch. The changeup was really productive too."

"Really encouraging, obviously nice outing for him but also for the team," Royals manager Matt Quatraro said of Singer. "Those guys present a lot of challenges with their lineup, so I was really happy for him."

Kansas City opened a 5-2 lead on Anthony Misiewicz's run-scoring wild pitch in the eighth, but Arizona closed in the bottom half on Emmanuel Rivera's two-run single off Aroldis Chapman. Rivera moved to second on Bobby Witt Jr.'s throwing error, but Barlow relieved and struck out Gabriel Moreno and Alek Thomas.

"He came in there in a huge spot and got those two strikeouts," Matt Quatraro said.

Geraldo Perdomo doubled leading off the ninth and took third on a groundout. Carroll walked with two outs and stole second, and Barlow retired Walker for his third save.

Ryne Nelson (1-1) gave up four runs and 11 hits in five innings.

"He was in a little bit of a fistfight all day," Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo said. "He was battling the command of his (offspeed pitches); I thought he got into a good rhythm with his fastball.

"We had some opportunities and hit some balls hard, just had nothing to show for it."

Edward Olivares hit an RBI single in the first and Nicky Lopez doubled the lead with a run-scoring single in the fourth. Walker had an RBI groundout in the bottom half, but Kansas City opened a 4-1 lead in the fifth when Michael Massey hit a run-scoring single and Reyes followed with a sacrifice fly.

Josh Rojas' sacrifice fly cut Arizona's deficit to 4-2 in the seventh.

Rivera was called up because OF Jake McCarthy was optioned to Triple-A Reno by Arizona after Monday's game. McCarthy was batting .143 in 22 games after hitting .283 with 23 stolen bases as a rookie last year. "Things just weren't trending in a positive direction," Lovullo said.

Royals: C MJ Melendez (lower back tightness) is "feeling better," according to manager Matt Quatraro. Melendez left Sunday's game against Toronto and sat out Monday. ... Quatraro aid LHP Daniel Lynch (rotator cuff strain) had a good bullpen session in nearby Surprise and could make a rehab start in a week.

Barlow strands 2 in 9th; Royals beat D-backs 5-4 for 6th win

Kansas Wesleyan has placed three women's golf student-athletes on the 2023 All-KCAC Women's Golf teams as announced by the conference office.

The All-KCAC women's golf teams are selected by a vote of the conference coaches.

Richmond led the Coyotes through the regular season with an 80.9 scoring average over 15 rounds and seven tournaments. She had three top five finishes on the season.

Donovan had an average score of 81.5 through 18 rounds this season and eight events. She posted one Top 5 finish on the season.

Hart is the lone returning selection from a year ago, earning first-team honors in 2022. She had a 81.7 scoring average during the season and had a pair of Top 5 finishes on the year, including a win in the Evangel Fall Invitational in October.

Righi was selected for his performance from April 17-23 by a vote of conference sports information directors.&nbsp;All KCAC Player of the Week honors are presented by&nbsp;Equity Bank.

Righi was dominant in the 17-3 victory for the Coyotes over Avila. He went six innings in the seven-inning run-rule shortened game, allowing two runs on four hits. He tallied 14 strikeouts in the game, recording 14 of the 18 outs he got via strikeout.

Kansas Wesleyan is 36-11 overall and 24-6 in the KCAC and leads the conference by a game over McPherson heading into the final weekend series of the game. The Coyotes are at Saint Mary on Friday and Saturday in Leavenworth.

The KCAC Postseason tournament begins May 3 at Great Bend Sports Complex in Great Bend.

Hernandez had a strong week to wrap up the regular season for the Coyotes. She hit .571 for the week with a 1.071 slugging average and a .625 on-base percentage. Hernandez went 8 for 14 at the plate with a double and hit a pair of homers&nbsp;on the week.

She hit homeruns in the games against Saint Mary, adding a round-tripper in each contest as the Coyotes split with the Spires. She drove in three runs during the week.

KWU completed its regular season on Saturday against Friends, and finished with an 18-23 overall record and a 13-11 mark in the Kansas Conference.

The Coyotes are locked in as the No. 6 seed in the KCAC Tournament that begins on May 3 at the Great Bend Sports Complex in Great Bend.

KWU's first round opponent is yet to be determined, based on the completion of games this weekend.

The two student-athletes&nbsp;were&nbsp;selected for their&nbsp;performances from April 17-23 by a vote of conference sports information directors.&nbsp;All KCAC Player of the Week honors are presented by&nbsp;Equity Bank.

It was a huge week for Hernandez-Silva to close the regular season. In three games, she threw for 573 yards with 14 touchdowns while completing 65 percent of her passes. She had no less than four passing TDs in any of the three games, with five twice. Hernandez-Silva did not play the entire game in any of the three contests. She racked up 751 yards of total offense on the week, adding 178 yards rushing on 25 attempts and three rushing TDs. This marks the fourth time this season that Hernandez-Silva has been named the KCAC Women's Flag Football Offensive Player of the Week, and the second consecutive week in which she's earned the honor.

It was a big&nbsp;week for Roman on defense for the Coyotes. She helped KWU go 3-0 on the field, and held three opponents to a combined 18 points over the three games. Playing DB, Roman didn't have a ton of flag pulls, but covered some solid receivers and disrupted the pass game in other ways. She also had four interceptions, all in the two conference contests. She returned one interception against Cottey for a TD, and nearly had another TD on an interception against Saint Mary. She was also excellent on offense for the Coyotes with 12 total receptions for 171 yards and 5 TDs on the week.

Kansas Wesleyan wrapped up the regular season with a 12-3 overall record and an 8-2 record in the KCAC. The Coyotes have set a new school record for wins in a season and KCAC wins in a season.

KWU is the No. 2 seed in this week's KCAC Flag Football Championships. The Coyotes will face the winner between No. 3 seed Midland and No. 6 seed Bethel at 6 p.m. at the all-new Paragon Star Sport Complex in Lee's Summit, Mo. The KCAC Flag Football Championship game is scheduled for 3 p.m. at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City on Saturday.

Coyotes sweep KCAC flag football weekly honors

PHOENIX — Nick Ahmed took a healthy swing in the eighth inning, but was a little off on his timing. The ball squirted off the end of his bat, rolling slowly up the first base line.

That gave Christian Walker time to sprint home with the decisive run for Arizona.

It was far from a classic, but these are the kind of games the Diamondbacks have lost for years. Now a few of them — including Monday night's 5-4 victory over the Kansas City Royals — are starting to go their way.

"We're not going to score 10 every game or throw a no-hitter," Walker said. "So to win these tweeners, where we feel we have a chance to win, but it's a matter of executing and holding them off one more inning, for me, these are the games when you look back and you're proud of the season, these are the wins that need to happen."

Ahmed — who was pinch-hitting — brought home Walker with his one-out roller off reliever Aroldis Chapman (0-1) that was essentially a swinging bunt. First baseman Vinnie Pasquantino tried to get Walker at home, but the throw was late.

"That ball — you can't plan for that," Royals manager Matt Quatraro said. "I thought Vinnie made a nice attempt."

The NL West-leading D-backs improved to 13-11. The Royals have lost nine of their last 10 and fell to 5-18.

Arizona lefty Andrew Chafin (2-0) got the win with 1 2/3 innings of scoreless relief. He struck out Salvador Perez and Franmil Reyes to end the game. The veteran reliever threw 35 pitches, a long outing by his standards.

"The adrenaline of the game is going to help push through any issues," Chafin said. "Just taking it one pitch at a time and doing everything I can to get the job done."

Edward Olivares hit a solo homer in the first to give the Royals an early lead, but the Diamondbacks built a 4-2 advantage by the fourth, scoring two runs in both the second and third off Kansas City starter Brad Keller.

Keller struggled to throw strikes, giving up four runs in four innings on four hits and six walks. He threw 95 pitches.

"He just didn't have his normal command," Quatraro said.

Arizona's Tommy Henry threw 4 1/3 innings in his first start of the season, giving up three runs on four hits and four walks. The left-hander was called up from Triple-A to take the rotation spot of four-time All-Star Madison Bumgarner, who was designated for assignment last week.

The Royals cut the D-backs' lead to 4-3 in the fifth on Perez's RBI double and then tied the game in the eighth on Kyle Isbel's RBI single. Pasquantino had a three-hit night while Michael Massey and Perez both had two hits.

Arizona's Geraldo Perdomo and Pavin Smith also had two hits.

Royals: Reyes was reinstated from the paternity list. INF Nate Eaton was sent to Triple-A Omaha.

Diamondbacks: To make room for Henry on the roster, RHP Drey Jameson was optioned to Triple-A Reno. ... Walker was out of the starting lineup for a second straight game after getting hit by a pitch on the left forearm Saturday. He pinch-hit in the eighth and walked.

The three-game series continues Tuesday. The Royals will send RHP Brady Singer (1-2, 8.14 ERA) to the mound against RHP Ryne Nelson (1-0, 4.91).

When Rick Ball moved to Great Bend in 1974 he was looking for a good way to exercise. Living close by, he eventually joined the golf
club, which has been known for years as Stoneridge Country Club. 

Along with
other investors, Ball eventually spent time in ownership of the 18-hole golf
course located on the northeast side of Great Bend on 24th Street. Although Stoneridge has had multiple owners since Ball and other investors sold the course in 2007, they “carried”
a financial note with the business.


The previous ownership failed to make mortgage payments for years, and after a
long, drawn-out court proceeding the new Club at Stoneridge owners took over ownership of the course last
December. Currently closed, Ball is now looking at what it will take to reopen
a once well-kept golf course. "It's going to take the involvement of former and new members; I'm not going to be able to do it by myself," said Ball. "We'll get others involved as soon as we get our arms around what all needs to be done." 
Ball said the court proceeding to foreclose on the course
dragged on for nearly two years.

There are over 120 acres throughout the golf course which has not been watered recently and has weeds taking over sections.
Ball noted the course needs to be addressed first but felt
like the clubhouse is also essential to make the venture successful. The clubhouse
features a bar and restaurant with a large kitchen, multiple banquet and
conference rooms, golf shop and a fitness room. Conversations have taken place with City of Great Bend officials on whether or not
the city wanted to get involved with the property to make the club into
a partial public course. Ball said he is open to continue those
conversations. "It would be nice to have the city involved somewhat," said Ball. "I'm a private businessman so I like to do things private, but there is a place for the city to participate also. If we don't go forward, I would consider this a negative for Great Bend if there is not a golf course for people to play. It helps bring businesses and people to town."

At the time, Ball does not have plans to keep or maintain the swimming pool at the
country club.&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;

"There are people that have offered to step up and help financially to get it done," said Ball. "We'll welcome that if we make the final decision to go forward."

'New' owners deciding what’s next for closed Great Bend golf course

Once a fixture at Radio City Music Hall, the NFL draft has been an even bigger hit since it took to the road.

When NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell steps to the podium on the giant stage in front of Union Station in Kansas City, Missouri, and announces the No. 1 pick on Thursday night, it'll be ninth draft since it left New York — and it's becoming a major boon for the league, teams and host cities.

"It's the second-biggest thing that we do and it's smack dab in the heart of our 'offseason.' There is no offseason," said Peter O'Reilly, the NFL's executive vice president, club business, major events and international. "And that's a testament to our fans and they're the ones who made the draft so much bigger and more special."

The NFL draft was in New York from 1965 to 2014. Radio City Music Hall, which hosted the draft nine times, saw the Rockettes' spring spectacular push the NFL draft into May in 2014. The league decided it wouldn't be kicked around again in 2015, so it moved the draft to Chicago for two years and saw tremendous results.

Philadelphia hosted the draft at the Art Museum in 2017, and Jerry's Palace in Dallas (aka AT&amp;T Stadium) became the first stadium site in 2018. Nashville and its honky tonks on Broadway drew a record crowd of 600,000 people over three days in 2019.

After COVID-19 postponed the 2020 draft, Cleveland had its turn to shine in 2021 and the party was on in Las Vegas in 2022. Next year, it'll be in Detroit, and the 2025 location will be decided at the league's spring meetings in May.

"We're most proud of the fact that we've been able to reach a lot more fans in different parts of the country, in many markets that have that aren't necessarily going to host a Super Bowl," O'Reilly said. "That opportunity to reach more fans and create this, without overstating it, this pilgrimage of fans, you see it every year."

O'Reilly also said that the drafts aren't "formulaic. You kind of start fresh every year because you get a new canvas and a new city."

The league uses iconic local settings and fan festivals in each city to enhance the draft's profile and boost the size of the crowds. There will be plenty of Kansas City's signature barbecue available — from food trucks — for people who come to the NFL draft and fan events being held at Union Station and the National WWI Museum and Memorial.

The Chiefs just celebrated another Super Bowl victory with a championship parade two months ago and now red-and-clad fans will be joined by thousands of people from all over for a three-day extravaganza.

"I'm excited for the city," Chiefs coach Andy Reid said. "Obviously, all these people that are coming in for this are excited to be in Kansas City. You better get the barbecue fired up and ready to go because we'll have a lot of folks here."

The first draft was held in a hotel in Philadelphia over two days in February 1936 after Eagles owner Bert Bell convinced the league's other eight owners that teams should select players from college in reverse order of finish rather than sign them as free agents.

Eighty-one players were selected in the first one. Compare that to a record of 487 players chosen in 1976, when the draft was 17 rounds. Four years later, ESPN started broadcasting the draft.

It's down to seven rounds now and has been spread over three days since moving into prime-time in 2010.

NFL draft a boon for cities, teams since it hit the road

After six weeks of waiting, Aaron Rodgers is leaving behind his brilliant legacy in Green Bay and heading to the bright lights — and massive expectations — of the Big Apple.

The New York Jets agreed on a deal Monday to acquire the four-time NFL MVP from the Packers, according to a person with knowledge of the trade. The person spoke to The Associated Press on the condition of anonymity because the teams had not officially announced the deal.

Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst said at a predraft news conference that the deal hasn't been finalized, but should be completed before the draft begins Thursday.

"We were expecting it to be done very quickly, hopefully soon," Gutekunst said. "A lot of things have been agreed upon. Some things to go through."

The Jets will receive Rodgers, the No. 15 overall pick and a fifth-rounder this year from the Packers, according to another person with knowledge of the trade. In exchange, Green Bay will get the 13th overall selection, a second-rounder (No. 42) and a sixth-rounder this year and a conditional 2024 second-round pick that can become a first-rounder if Rodgers plays 65% of plays for New York next season.

ESPN first reported the agreement on terms between the teams on a deal.

The 39-year-old Rodgers spent a few days in February contemplating his life and playing future during an isolation retreat in Oregon – while fans and media speculated about what he would decide.

He emerged and deliberated some more before deciding on March 10 he intended to play again — and for the Jets. Rodgers made his intentions official during an appearance on "The Pat McAfee Show" on YouTube and Sirius XM on March 15. That came after New York had sent a contingent that included owner Woody Johnson, coach Robert Saleh and general manager Joe Douglas to Rodgers' home in Southern California in early March.

And then he and the sports world waited — and waited — for the Packers and Jets to finally complete a deal.

"We've been working on this for a while," Gutekunst said. "To get beyond the draft I think would have been tough for both teams."

Several weeks of negotiations appeared to be stalled at times, with fans — and the teams — wondering when or if the trade would be completed.

"We're anxious," Johnson told reporters at the league's annual meetings on March 28. "I guess, as we look forward, we're optimistic. But we have a plan, so we're willing to stick with our plan. And I don't think anybody is hyperventilating at this point."

It took a while, but the sides were finally able to agree on compensation. And the deal puts the one-time Super Bowl champion in New York after Zach Wilson, the No. 2 overall draft pick in 2021, struggled mightily in his first two seasons.

New York was 7-10 last season, finishing on a six-game losing streak that extended the NFL's longest active playoff drought to a franchise-record 12 straight years.

With the Jets, Rodgers reunites with offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett to try to jumpstart an offense that was among the NFL's worst under coordinator Mike LaFleur, the younger brother of Matt, Rodgers' coach in Green Bay the past four years. Rodgers joins some promising young playmakers on offense, such as wide receiver Garrett Wilson, the AP offensive rookie of the year, and running back Breece Hall.

"There's a lot of reasons why the Jets are attractive," Rodgers said during his appearance on "The Pat McAfee Show." "But there's one coach that has meant as much to me as any coach I've ever had. And he happens to be the coordinator there."

Saleh acknowledged a few times this offseason that the Jets were looking for a veteran quarterback to add to a team that features a top-five defense. And Johnson said he was "absolutely" on board with paying an established signal caller — "the missing piece," he called it — if Douglas could get him.

They ended up getting one of the NFL's greatest quarterbacks.

Rodgers said shortly after the season ended that he was making up his mind on whether he wanted to return to the Packers for a 19th season, retire or request a trade. Meanwhile, the Jets explored a few quarterback options, including meeting with free agent Derek Carr at their facility and then again at the NFL combine in Indianapolis.

But after Carr agreed to terms to sign with New Orleans, it became even more apparent that New York would be all in on Rodgers — as long as he wanted to play there.

It's reminiscent of the stunning trade the Jets made in 2008, when they acquired Brett Favre — who also turned 39 a few months later — from the Packers. And, coincidentally, clearing the way for Rodgers to start in Green Bay.

Rodgers was the league MVP in 2020 and 2021, but didn't perform as well last season while playing with a broken right thumb and dealing with the absence of star wideout Davante Adams, who was traded to Las Vegas. He had his lowest passer rating as a starter (91.1) and threw 12 interceptions, his highest total since 2008. The Packers went 8-9 and missed the playoffs to end a string of three straight NFC North titles.

Rodgers led the Packers to their last Super Bowl title in the 2010 season. Rodgers never got the Packers back to the Super Bowl, but he helped make them annual contenders. The Packers have lost in the NFC championship game four of the last nine seasons.

"I've got nothing but love and appreciation for what Aaron has done for so many in our organization," Matt LaFleur said last month during the NFL meetings in Phoenix.

Rodgers' departure marks a sea of change for the Packers after they've had about three decades of Hall of Fame-level quarterback production in Favre and Rodgers. Next in line is Jordan Love, a 2020 first-round pick who has made only one career start.

Rodgers acknowledged the move caught him by surprise. He skipped the Packers' 2021 mandatory minicamp in a standoff with team management before reporting to camp and producing a second straight MVP season. (He also won the award for 2011 and 2014.) But the sides had patched things up afterward.

When he was asked last June at the Packers' mandatory minicamp whether he expected to finish his career in Green Bay, Rodgers replied: "Yes. Definitely."

Then came a 2022 season that didn't go according to plan.

Rodgers now will be tasked with leading a franchise that hasn't been in the Super Bowl since Joe Namath led the franchise to a victory in its only appearance in January 1969.

And quarterback issues have often been among the key culprits in the struggles since. That has especially been the case during the Jets' current playoff drought.

Saleh said the Jets remain committed to developing Wilson, the second overall pick in 2021. But the 23-year-old will do so as a backup to Rodgers, who was Wilson's idol while growing up in Utah.

Wilson joked the day after the season ended that he'd welcome a veteran starter coming in to claim his job and said he plans to "make that dude's life hell in practice every day."

Little did he know then "that dude" would be the quarterback he tried to emulate as a youngster — who'll now be in New York trying bring the Jets to another long-awaited Super Bowl.

Kansas Wesleyan flag football closed out its regular season on Sunday facing the Saint Mary Spires, and came away with a dominating win, topping the Spires 57-0 at Gene Bissell Field at JRI Stadium at the Graves Family Sports Complex.

Sunday's 57 points was the second highest point total of the season for the Coyotes, second to when KWU scored 60 on Bethel on March 8 in just under three full quarters of action.

The Coyotes outscored the Spires 108-0 in their two meetings on the season.

Wesleyan's 393 yards of total offense in the game is also a new season high, as the Coyotes finished with 280 yards passing and 119 rushing.

The game was all Coyotes from the opening drive. Wesleyan only needed three plays and 80 seconds to find the endzone on the first drive. A 28-yard run started by&nbsp;<a href="https://www.kwucoyotes.com/roster/24/33/13680">Brianna Hernandez-Silva</a>&nbsp;(SR/Las Vegas, Nev.) and finished by&nbsp;<a href="https://www.kwucoyotes.com/roster/24/33/13687">Kendra Velasquez-Munro</a>&nbsp;(SO/Las Vegas, Nev.) got the drive started, and two plays later Hernandez-Silva found&nbsp;<a href="https://www.kwucoyotes.com/roster/24/33/13685">Angel Roman</a>&nbsp;(SO/Jacksonville, Fla.) from 27 yards out for the score to give the Coyotes the lead.

After a stalled Saint Mary drive and punt, the Coyotes got right back to work. This time the Coyotes used a little more clock, needing nine plays and just over five minutes to score again, as Hernandez-Silva found Jazmine wide open in the middle of the endzone for the score marking it 14-0 with 1:52 left in the quarter.

The Coyote special teams provided the next bit of excitement as KWU's defense forced a Saint Mary punt, that&nbsp;<a href="https://www.kwucoyotes.com/roster/24/33/13682">Ciaran DeCuir</a>&nbsp;(SO/Las Vegas, Nev.) returned 60 yards down the sideline for the score with 11:14 left in the second quarter making it 21-0 after Hernandez-Silva found&nbsp;<a href="https://www.kwucoyotes.com/roster/24/33/14275">Tori Wlodarczyk</a>&nbsp;(FR/Las Vegas, Nev.) for the 1-point PAT.

<a href="https://www.kwucoyotes.com/roster/24/33/13685">Angel Roman</a>&nbsp;picked off a pass on Saint Mary's next drive setting up a short field for the Coyotes at the USM 28 and three plays later the Coyotes were in the end zone again as Hernandez-Silva rushed for seven yards then lateraled to DeCuir to finish it off.

Wesleyan's next drive only took two plays to score again, a third time in less than six minutes in the second quarter. Hernandez-Silva rushed for 20 yards, then found&nbsp;<a href="https://www.kwucoyotes.com/roster/24/33/14268">Angel Almaraz</a>&nbsp;(FR/Las Vegas, Nev.) on a 10-yard pass to make it 35-0 with 6:21 to go in the half.

KWU's defense came up big on the Saint Mary drive to start the second half as&nbsp;<a href="https://www.kwucoyotes.com/roster/24/33/13689">Alexis Jimenez</a>&nbsp;(SO/Miami, Fla.) nearly had an interception deflecting a USM pass, which would have been her second pick of the day.

Wesleyan's first drive of the second half needed one play as Hernandez-Silva found Whitfield again, with no one within five yards of her for the score from 30 yards out.

Saint Mary drove to the KWU 23 on its next drive but stalled there, and the Coyotes quickly went the other direction. It only took three plays for the Coyotes to score again, as Hernandez-Silva found DeCuir open over the middle, who broke free from a Saint Mary defender, and raced to the endzone for the score from 47 yards making it 48-0 Coyotes.

Right before the end of the third, the Coyotes had a nifty play that turned into a big gainer. Quarterback&nbsp;<a href="https://www.kwucoyotes.com/roster/24/33/13686">Emilee Buhl</a>&nbsp;(SO/Willis, Texas) looked to find Wlodarczyk over the middle, but the ball went through her hands right to Whitfield who raced down the sideline to the USM 10.

KWU got two points on a safety in the fourth. KWU's drive stalled at the USM 1, and after a no gain play,&nbsp;<a href="https://www.kwucoyotes.com/roster/24/33/14269">Ansdiane Rabano</a>&nbsp;(FR/Jersey City, N.J.) sacked USM quarterback Sable Barnes in the endzone for a safety with 10:44 left in the game.

The Coyotes got one more score in the game. The Coyotes took over at their own 27 and marched down the field to the USM 23. It appeared that the Coyotes had thrown an interception that was returned for a touchdown, but a roughing the passer penalty negated the play and gave the Coyotes a first and goal at the USM 13. On the next play, Buhl found Whitfield for a score and the PAT to&nbsp;<a href="https://www.kwucoyotes.com/roster/24/33/13683">Nickayla Howard</a>&nbsp;(SO/Las Vegas, Nev.) was good making it 57-0 with 4:03 left.

Hernandez-Silva led the Coyotes going 11 of 15 passing for 186 yards and five touchdowns, and Buhl was 9 of 16 for 94 yards and a score. Hernandez-Silva added 59 yards rushing on six carries and Velasquez-Munro added three carries for 54 yards.

Whitfield just missed a 100-yard receiving day with six catches for 99 yards and three scores. Velasquez-Munro had three catches for 26 yards and Alamaraz had three grabs for 25 and a score. Nine difference players had a pass reception.

<a href="https://www.kwucoyotes.com/roster/24/33/13684">Alexa Mansur</a>&nbsp;(SO/Henderson, Nev.) led the Coyotes with seven flag pulls and a pass breakup on defense. Jimenez was one of three Coyotes to have four flag pulls and added an interception. Rabano had two sacks and Howard had one and&nbsp;<a href="https://www.kwucoyotes.com/roster/24/33/14272">Leila Casillan</a>&nbsp;(FR/Las Vegas, Nev.) had one as well.

The Coyotes wrap the regular season with a school record 12th win improving to 12-3 overall and finish the KCAC schedule at 8-2.

The Coyotes will be the No. 2 seed in the KCAC tournament that starts Friday at the brand new Paragon Star Sports Complex in Lee's Summit, Mo. KWU will play at 6 p.m. Friday against the winner between No. 3 seed Midland and the No. 6 seed, either Bethel or Saint Mary, who both went 1-9 in the KCAC and split their regular season meetings.

The KCAC Championship game is set for 3 p.m. at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium on Saturday.

KWU flag football topples Spires again in regular season finale

The NFL never really stops, so the offseason continues with the draft starting Thursday night.

The Carolina Panthers have the No. 1 overall pick and, as usual, a lot of the hype surrounds the quarterbacks. Alabama's Bryce Young, Ohio State's C.J. Stroud, Kentucky's Will Levis and Florida's Anthony Richardson are among the coveted prospects.

Here's more to know ahead of the NFL draft:

The draft is a three-day extravaganza in Kansas City, Missouri, starting Thursday night.

The first round begins at 8 p.m. Eastern. The second and third rounds are on Friday starting at 7 p.m. The fourth through seventh rounds are on Saturday starting at 12 p.m.

The draft can be viewed on NFL Network, ABC, ESPN and ESPN Deportes.

Everyone is pretty much asking the same questions about the NFL draft. See how AP's experts on NFL and college football answer them in AP's NFL mock draft.

The Panthers have the No. 1 pick in the draft after making a trade with the Chicago Bears.

After that, the Houston Texans select at No. 2, while the Arizona Cardinals are No. 3. The Indianapolis Colts (No. 4) and Seattle Seahawks (No. 5) round out the top 5.

The Panthers are expected to take a quarterback with the top selection. The candidates include Young, Stroud, Levis and Richardson.

Not every team has a draft pick in the first round. The Cleveland Browns, Los Angeles Rams, Denver Broncos, Miami Dolphins and San Francisco 49ers will sit the first night out unless they make a trade.

Four of the five teams are out of the first round because of trades. The one exception is the Dolphins. The NFL punished the franchise by taking away its 2023 first-round and 2024 third-round pick after a probe found the team tampered with quarterback Tom Brady and coach Sean Payton.

The most loaded position in this draft might just be tight end. The record for tight ends drafted in the first round is three, most recently done in 2017. There is a chance that gets broken and more tight ends go in the first round than wideouts.

Notre Dame's Michael Mayer, Utah's Dalton Kincaid, Georgia's Darnell Washington and Oregon State's Luke Musgrave all have their fans and could be among those selected Thursday night.

The draft could also be a semi-renaissance for the running back spot. Texas' Bijan Robinson is one of the most coveted prospects at his position in the past decade. Alabama's Jahmyr Gibbs, Texas A&amp;M's Devon Achane, UCLA's Zach Charbonnet and Tulane's Tyjae Spears are also talented prospects.

KWU women's tennis closes season with loss to Ottawa

NFLNEW YORK - The NFL announced today it will collaborate with the Emmy-winning show “The Shop UNINTERRUPTED” for a special limited series, featuring top player prospects and personalities in Kansas City for the 2023 NFL Draft. Titled “Draft Day in The Shop,” executive producer&nbsp;Maverick Carter and co-creator&nbsp;Paul Rivera will welcome top 2023 NFL Draft prospects&nbsp; Anthony Richardson, Bijan Robinson, Paris Johnson, Jr., and Will Anderson, Jr., into The Shop to have authentic conversations about a range of topics, including pro football dreams, iconic plays, mentorship and life off the field.&nbsp; “As the NFL Draft continues to be a pillar of sports and culture, we’re thrilled to welcome ‘The Shop UNINTERRUPTED’ to the 2023 NFL Draft and showcase this year’s top prospects through intimate, unique conversations in an atmosphere only The Shop can provide,”&nbsp;said Angela Ellis, NFL Media’s vice president of original content and entertainment. NFL Media’s Emmy Award-winning production team –&nbsp;spearheaded by&nbsp;Dallas Hitchcock,&nbsp;head of creative content&nbsp;– leads the NFL’s first special content series with UNINTERRUPTED.&nbsp; This collaboration follows a pivotal past year for The Shop franchise.
