Lynda Dayle Neely passed away at the age of 82 on May 28, 2025 at her home in Abilene, KS.

Born on October 2, 1942, in Refugio, Texas, Lynda was the daughter of Jesse Clyde and Alma Faye (LeBleu) Millican.

She spent her early years in South Texas, creating cherished memories with her siblings. In 1953, her family relocated to Corpus Christi, where she graduated from W.B. Ray High School in 1960. She married Richard (Dick) Millner in 1961 and together they welcomed three children, Adam, Jill, and David.Lynda had a passion for preserving history. She became known for purchasing and restoring many of Abilene’s historic homes, sparking a community-wide appreciation for local heritage. In 1982, she was appointed director of the Dickinson County Historical Society. Upon her retirement, she was honored to serve as the first director of the newly established Eisenhower Foundation, a role she held for several years before retiring once more.

Her public service extended beyond these roles. Lynda served on the Abilene City Commission, serving as mayor three times in her tenure. She received a gubernatorial appointment to the Heritage Commission. She was an active member of numerous organizations, including the Kansas Downtown Development Association, National Trust for Historic Preservation, Kansas State Historical Society, Kansas Museum Association, American Association of State and Local History, and the Abilene Area Chamber of Commerce. Of all her achievements, Lynda was most proud of her efforts to make Abilene the best it could be. Her vision and dedication left an enduring mark on the town she loved.In 1989, Lynda married Ed Scheele. Together, they founded ESA Design, through which they designed museums across the United States. One of her most treasured projects was contributing to the design and development of the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum in Kansas City.

In the last three decades of her life, Lynda was lovingly known as Nana—a title she cherished most. Her grandchildren were the center of her world, and she shaped their lives with her warmth, wisdom, and boundless love. She embraced each moment with them, especially those filled with adventure.

On October 13, 2018, Lynda married Russell Neely. Russell was a devoted and loving partner, ensuring her final years could be spent at their cherished home on Red Bud Lake. Their time together was filled with joy, comfort, and continued adventures.

Lynda was preceded in death by her parents, son Adam Millner and grandson River Wilson Millner. She is survived by her husband, Russell Neely; Children Jill (Steve) Lang and David Millner; Daughter-in-law Chalsea Millner; Sister Gayle Waldrep; Brothers David (Betty) Millican and Dan (Diane) Millican; Grandchildren Killian (Sheridan) Millner, Zoe Millner, Olivia (Gus Bryant) Crist, and Ava Crist; Great Grandchildren River Wayne Millner and Hattie Faye Bryant.

Cremation services for Lynda will be 10:30 am Wednesday, June 4, 2025 at the First United Methodist Church in Abilene with Pastor Tony Serbousek officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm Tuesday, June 3, 2025 at the Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home. Her final resting place will be in the Abilene Cemetery. Lynda Dayle Neely

Nancy Arlene Higbee, 86, passed away on May 16, 2025 at Republic County Hospital. She was born on January 8, 1939 to Francis and Vera (Logan) Reed.

Nancy grew up in Formoso, Kansas, and graduated from Formoso High School in 1957. She participated in basketball, music, and running.

She was a dedicated member and lifelong attendee of the Formoso Community Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher for many years.

Nancy married Jackie Loy Higbee at the Formoso Community Church on August 9, 1959. This union brought three children, Michael Lynn, Jeannea Loy, and Christel Dawn.

She was a very active member of her community, she was a member of the Formoso Athena Club, a 4-H leader, and an Auxiliary member. She enjoyed gardening, making doll dresses, and collecting antiques. She loved helping her children in all the activities that they were involved in. She would help her husband on the farm with preparing meals to take to the field. Would run a truck when needed, and moving Jack from field to field. She loved it when her grandchildren would come to visit her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack, her son, Michael, her granddaughter, Kassidy, and son-in-law, Jeremie.

She will be missed by her daughters, Jeannea Thomas, of Osborne, Kansas, and Christel Pierce and Kyle of Mankato, KS; Granddaughters, McCaela Nelson, Cheyenne Nelson, Mabel Nelson and Jackie Nelson; also her 7 great grandchildren.

A graveside service will take place on Thursday, June 5, 2025, at 2:30 p.m. at Balch Cemetery in Formoso, Kansas, with Jake Englebert officiating. Bruce Charles Waddle, age 62, of Gypsum, passed away suddenly at his home on May 24, 2025.

Bruce&nbsp;was born&nbsp;March&nbsp;23,&nbsp;1963&nbsp;in&nbsp;Salina,&nbsp;KS, to&nbsp;Charles&nbsp;and&nbsp;Elaine Waddle.&nbsp;He&nbsp;was raised&nbsp;in Kipp, KS&nbsp;and&nbsp;was&nbsp;a 1981 graduate of&nbsp;Southeast&nbsp;of Saline High School, remaining&nbsp;very close with his classmates throughout his life. He married his&nbsp;wife of 42 years,&nbsp;Tammy Waddle,&nbsp;in 1982, and they settled in&nbsp;Gypsum, KS&nbsp;where they raised&nbsp;their son.

Bruce’s&nbsp;parents began Waddle’s Heating and Cooling in 1973 when he was 10 years old. He grew up helping in the shop and learning from his father. Eventually, Bruce&nbsp;took&nbsp;over the family business&nbsp;and was the owner until his&nbsp;passing.&nbsp;He was a jack of all trades and took great pride in his work.&nbsp;

Bruce&nbsp;was a&nbsp;very&nbsp;kind and generous man who was always thinking of&nbsp;others. He was a member of several groups within the community. He was also&nbsp;a devoted volunteer fire fighter&nbsp;with&nbsp;Saline County Rural Fire District #1. He&nbsp;volunteered with them&nbsp;for&nbsp;over&nbsp;42 years.

In his free time, he enjoyed going to auctions, hunting, working on his fire truck, and spending time with his grandchildren, Olivia and Keith. He enjoyed taking them fishing and to the races. They were the light of his&nbsp;life,&nbsp;and he loved them very much.&nbsp;

Bruce was preceded in death by an infant daughter and his grandparents, Arnold and Theresa Swanson and Clifford and Margaret Waddle.

Bruce is survived by his parents Charles and Elaine; his wife Tammy; his son and daughter-in-law Wade and Tiffany; his brother Brad (Liz); his sister Christine (Robbie);&nbsp;and grandchildren Olivia and Keith.

Visitation will be at Ryan Mortuary, Salina, on Wednesday, May 28, 2025 from 4:00 -8:00 pm. with family present from 5:00 -7:00 pm.

Vicky Lynn Aguilar, 69, of Salina, passed away on May 25, 2025. Vicky was born on March 20, 1956, at Logansport, Indiana to Joseph and Velma (Crane) Veach.

Vicky was a strong woman and had a big heart. She was a loving and caring person, and a diligent worker. Vicky loved puzzles, crossword puzzles, and playing solitaire. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and family. Her favorite time of the year was the holidays, coming together spending time with her loving family. Vicky loved music, with Micheal Jackson and Elvis Presley being her favorites.

Vicky was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Velma Veach, and brother Gary Veach.

She is survived by her sisters Belinda Bussell of Rogersville, Alabama, Debbie Drake of Hendersonville, North Carolina, and Nancy (Brad) Wilson of Titusville, Florida, brother Harrison Manis II of Orlando, Florida, daughters Tonya Watts of Salina, Kansas, Amanda Phillips of Wichita, Kansas, Alicia Olvera of Salina, Kansas and stepdaughter Tracy (Richard) Allen of Salina, Kansas, stepsons Todd Weis of Salina, Kansas, and Tab Weis of Eugene, Oregon, 14 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Marilyn JoAnn Lloyd, 90, of Olathe, Kansas, passed away Thursday, January 2nd, 2025.

JoAnn was born in Kansas City, Kansas, on February 7, 1934, the daughter of Edna Pauline (Holmgren) and Fredolph Bernard Oberg. Although an only child, she grew up in a tight-knit family with several cousins living in the Salina and Lindsborg communities.

After graduating from Salina High in 1952, JoAnn attended Bethany College. Later that year, the handsome Airman 1st Class Don Lloyd started attending Salina Bible Church. They married on August 2, 1953, and remained together until his death in May 2024.

JoAnn was an accomplished seamstress with an eye for fashion. She spoiled her daughters with tailor-made clothes and taught knitting and sewing classes at King’s Fabric. The Lord blessed her with an opportunity to work at Sears, where she worked in the catalog and credit departments until she retired in the late 1990s. After her retirement, she started quilting, allowing her to keep her mind nimble.

When JoAnn wasn’t working or sewing, she was serving at church. She taught children’s church for over 30 years, sang in a trio and the choir, and hosted missionaries for meals. She was a phenomenal cook and loved to serve her Lord.Survivors include three daughters, Nancy Davis (Pat), of Pipe Creek, Texas, Roxann Lloyd, of Denver, Colorado, Jana Laipple (Brett), of Wathena, Kansas; and son, Jeffery "Jeff" Lloyd (Bev), of Valley Park, Missouri. She is also survived by 2 Grandchildren, Buddy Lloyd (Amber), Janis Hughes (Will); and 3 great grandchildren, Kennedy, Molly, Charlie.She is preceded in death by her parents and husband, Don Lloyd.

Marilyn JoAnn Lloyd

Lynnette “Lynnie” Eileen Bishop-Chard passed away on May 15, 2025, at her home in Palco, KS, at the age of 68. She was born on July 12, 1956, to Carl A. and Lois Ruth (Abitz) Bishop in Crete, Nebraska. She was married on March 11, 2000, to Randy Lee Chard in Hill City, Kansas.

She was born in Crete, Nebraska and raised in Salina, Kansas. Lynnie graduated from Salina South High School in 1974. She later became a proud and active member of the Lutheran Association in Hill City, Kansas, where she found fellowship and strength in her faith.

Lynnie had a compassionate heart and dedicated much of her life to caring for others. She worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), an x-ray technician, and served as the manager of Cookies Liquor—where she brought her strong work ethic, humor, and warmth to all who knew her.

A lover of animals and the simple joys in life, Lynnie found happiness in the company of black and white cows, her beloved dogs and cats, and in tending her garden. She enjoyed fishing on quiet afternoons and sharing drinks and laughter with her friends.

Lynnie’s generous spirit, love for nature, and quick wit will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Janet K. Bishop-Brown, grandparents and son-in-law, Shane Scates.

She was born on July 12, 1956, to Carl A. and Lois Ruth (Abitz) Bishop in Crete, Nebraska. She was married on March 11, 2000, to Randy Lee Chard in Hill City, Kansas.She was born in Crete, Nebraska and raised in Salina, Kansas. Lynnie graduated from Salina South High School in 1974. She later became a proud and active member of the Lutheran Association in Hill City, Kansas, where she found fellowship and strength in her faith.Lynnie had a compassionate heart and dedicated much of her life to caring for others. She worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), an x-ray technician, and served as the manager of Cookies Liquor—where she brought her strong work ethic, humor, and warmth to all who knew her.A lover of animals and the simple joys in life, Lynnie found happiness in the company of black and white cows, her beloved dogs and cats, and in tending her garden. Lynnette Eileen Bishop-Chard

Lyle Gene Schultz passed away on Monday, May 19, 2025, at the age of 63. He was born in Osborne, Kansas, at Osborne Memorial Hospital to Richard and Nola (Brown) Schultz. He grew up on the family farm, attended Lucas Grade School, and graduated from Lucas-Luray High School in 1979.

Lyle attended the Salina Area Vocational Technical School and earned his degree in Diesel Mechanics. On weekends, he would come home and help his Dad with farm work. Lyle enjoyed hauling cattle over the road and taking care of the cattle on the farm when he was no longer driving a semi. He loved collecting and shooting guns and hunting deer, elk, and pheasants. He started collecting guns early so that he had a legacy to pass on to his boys, Skyler and Ryan.

Lyle was preceded in death by his Dad, Richard, in 2025, his sister Annette in 2022, and his brother, Larry, in 2019. He is survived by his mother, Nola of Lucas, sons Skyler and Ryan of Hays, Kansas, brother-in-law Jerry Lantz of Salina, Kansas, cousins Victoria (Zac Zandt) and Joanie (Brayden) Galliard, both of Garden City, Kansas, nieces Zyra and nephew Zadyn Zundt of Garden City, Kansas.

Lyle Gene Schultz 

Alice Jo Macek, of Wilson, KS, passed away on May 23, 2025, at the Good Samaritan Society-Ellsworth Village in Ellsworth, KS, at the age of 85.

Alice was born on the family home west of Holyrood on June 8, 1939, to Josie (Brejcha) and Frank W. Doubrava Jr., the youngest of six children. Her father passed away when she was three, and both grandfathers shortly after, leaving a significant void. Her mother, Josie, remained on the farm and raised the children on her own.

Alice attended Murray Hill Country School for one year and then went to Holyrood, where she graduated from Holyrood High School in 1957. During her senior year, she met Joseph Macek Jr. through a mutual friend, and the two were married on January 25, 1958, at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Ellsworth. The young couple made their home in Wilson, where Joe was involved in the John Deere Implement business, and together they raised two children, Jerry and Ramona.

Alice was active in the community and a devoted member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic church, its Altar Society and St. Francis Circle Daughters of Isabella, where she served in numerous roles, including Past Regent. Her service extended to the USD 328 School Board and past board member of Smoky Hills Community Foundation. A proud 60+ year member of the General Federation of Woman’s Clubs, she served as Sixth District President from 1986-88, when Wilson had two clubs: Friends of Reading and Sorosis. She was also involved in Mother’s Club, sewing club, current member of the GFWC Rainbow Club, Wilson American Legion Auxiliary and Kansas Czechs Inc.

For many years Alice and Joe enjoyed playing in a couple’s pitch card club. Joe passed away on November 3, 2002, following a short illness. Later, Alice and long-time friend Gene Malir began attending social events together, never imagining their relationship would lead to a permanent one. They were married on September 10, 2004, at St. Wenceslaus Church in Wilson. After their marriage, she moved to the farm in Noble Township returning to her roots as a farm gal, where she continued to reside. She and Gene enjoyed traveling and visiting family and friends, with several trips outside the United States, and rejoining the couple’s pitch card club where they enjoyed many fun evenings. The Wilson Senior Center was also a special place where she enjoyed good food, companionship, and new friendships over the years.

Throughout her life, Alice worked for several local businesses including The Wilson World, Kenny’s Construction, Wilson High School, LaBelle Boutique, and Bethphage in Ellsworth. After leaving Bethphage, she served as a guardian for the State of Kansas for her ward, Matthew.

Alice enjoyed gardening, sewing, dancing, cooking and baking - especially kolaches - spending time with family and friends and serving her community. Proud of her Czech heritage, she contributed to the Annual After Harvest Czech Festival for many years, serving as Parade Chairman.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; brother, Alfred Doubrava; sisters and husbands, LouElla (Ken) Thompson, Delores (William) Hinde, and Irene

(Clifford) Urbanek; sisters-in-law, Bernadine (Gail) Bachman, Joan Malir and Marilyn Mattas.

Survivors include son, Jerry (Sandy) Macek of Wilson; daughter, Ramona (Kathy Osborne) Macek of Topeka; sister, Rose (Bob) Small of Lyons; grandchildren, Joe Macek, Amber (Corry) Kepka, Joshua (Laura) Pekar, Courtney (Ryan) Smith; eight great-grandchildren; step-son, Rick (Bonnie Coley) Malir of Dublin, Ohio; step-daughter, Nancy Malir, Alexandria Virginia; brothers-in-law, Ken Malir and Rich Mattas; special friend and helper, Michael Macek; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews; and her beloved Nike.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at 10:30AM at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Wilson. Burial will follow in the church cemetery in Wilson. Visitation will be on Tuesday, 5PM until 8PM with the family receiving friends 6PM until the Vigil and Rosary Service at 7PM at the funeral home in Wilson.

Alice Jo Macek

Andrea Marie Wildeman (Woods), 82 passed away on April 29, 2025, at Sheridan County Long Term care in Hoxie, KS.

She was born March 21, 1943, in Gypsum, KS. Andrea was the only child of Andrew and Charlotte (Flessa) Woods. Andrea attended and graduated from Gypsum high school in 1961. Andrea received a Bachelor in Education with an emphasis in English from Kansas Wesleyan University in 1965 and her master's in library science from Emporia University in 1978. Andrea also returned to school later in life and received a Master’s in Counseling from Fort Hays State University. She taught and was the school Librarian in Norton, KS for several years before marrying Leroy and moving to Hoxie. After obtaining her counseling degree she worked for the Hoxie School system as both a High School and Grade School Counselor.

Andrea married Leroy Wildeman on June 1, 1985. She joined Leroy and his two children, Paula and Galen, and formed a family. Andrea had a heart for Jesus. She freely gave to anyone that was in need, especially her family and friends. She enjoyed cross stitch, reading and watching the chiefs and game shows. Andrea is survived by her children Paula Marchbanks and her husband, Charles, Galen Wildeman and his wife, Sondra, granddaughter Lindsey Marchbanks, grandsons Nick, Logan and Carter Yates and numerous nieces and nephews. In particular, Andrea would want to acknowledge her niece, Jackie Waldman, for being a second daughter and providing her the love and support she did for so many years.

A mass of Christian burial is planned for June 6, 10:30 AM at the St. Frances Cabrini Church, Hoxie KS. A visitation is planned for June 5, 3-7 pm with a wake starting at 7 pm.

Andrea Marie Wildeman

Leon Joseph Kinderknecht, 68, of Wamego, Kansas, passed away on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at home after a long battle with cancer. Leon was born on August 25, 1956, in Quinter, Kansas, to Virgil and Luella (Richmeier) Kinderknecht. Being the second of nine children, he grew up in a close-knit family, where he learned the values of hard work and love. He attended and graduated from Wheatland High School with the class of 1974. He met the love of his life, Tracy Lynn (Brown) Kinderknecht, in front of that school and married her in Park, Kansas, on August 27, 1977. Together, they had three children: Levi Aaron Kinderknecht, Alexander Joseph Kinderknecht, and Mariah Keanna (Kinderknecht) Kabriel. He was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend to many.

Leon was known not only for his remarkable skills as an auto mechanic but also for his ability to light up a room and lift the spirits of everyone around him. He had a talent for fixing anything with an engine, and his garage was a second home to those who often dropped by—not just for repairs, but for his advice and good company. Leon spent his life doing the things he loved most: tinkering with cars, getting his hands dirty in his garden, and cheering passionately for his favorite sports. He loved NASCAR and sprint car racing, and during football season, you could always find him wearing his Kansas City Chiefs gear, shouting encouragement at the television as if the players could hear him. Whether it was a car that would not start or a friend who needed a laugh, Leon always knew how to bring things back to life.

Leon is survived by his devoted wife, Tracy, who was his partner in life and love. He leaves behind a legacy of strength and compassion through his children: sons Levi Kinderknecht (Tiffany), Alex Kinderknecht (Kristen), and daughter Mariah Kabriel (Ryan). His spirit will live on in his grandchildren, who brought him immense joy: Brinley Jervah, Sebastian McGinty-Kinderknecht, Blaten Jervah, Braysen Jervah, Thea Kinderknecht, and Rhaena Kinderknecht. He is also survived by his siblings: Marilyn Arnold (Dave), Glenda Heier (Richard), Randy Kinderknecht, Galen Kinderknecht, Sheila Heim (Steve), and Eric Kinderknecht (Debbie), along with his brother-in-law, Roy Karnes, parents-in-law, Charles and Judy Brown, and many nephews, nieces, extended family, and friends.

Leon was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Luella Kinderknecht; sister, Loretta Karnes; brother, Michael Kinderknecht; and infant sister, Mary Ann Kinderknecht.

As we remember Leon, let us carry forward his legacy of love, laughter, and kindness. His memory will forever remain in the hearts of those he leaves behind. Rest in peace, Leon. You will be deeply missed.

 </figure>Leon Joseph Kinderknecht, 68, of Wamego, Kansas, passed away on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at home after a long battle with cancer. Leon was born on August 25, 1956, in Quinter, Kansas, to Virgil and Luella (Richmeier) Kinderknecht. Being the second of nine children, he grew up in a close-knit family, where he learned the values of hard work and love. He attended and graduated from Wheatland High School with the class of 1974. He met the love of his life, Tracy Lynn (Brown) Kinderknecht, in front of that school and married her in Park, Kansas, on August 27, 1977. Together, they had three children: Levi Aaron Kinderknecht, Alexander Joseph Kinderknecht, and Mariah Keanna (Kinderknecht) Kabriel. He was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend to many.Leon was known not only for his remarkable skills as an auto mechanic but also for his ability to light up a room and lift the spirits of everyone around him. He had a talent for fixing anything with an engine, and his garage was a second home to those who often dropped by—not just for repairs, but for his advice and good company. Leon spent his life doing the things he loved most: tinkering with cars, getting his hands dirty in his garden, and cheering passionately for his favorite sports. He loved NASCAR and sprint car racing, and during football season, you could always find him wearing his Kansas City Chiefs gear, shouting encouragement at the television as if the players could hear him. Whether it was a car that would not start or a friend who needed a laugh, Leon always knew how to bring things back to life.Leon is survived by his devoted wife, Tracy, who was his partner in life and love. He leaves behind a legacy of strength and compassion through his children: sons Levi Kinderknecht (Tiffany), Alex Kinderknecht (Kristen), and daughter Mariah Kabriel (Ryan). His spirit will live on in his grandchildren, who brought him immense joy: Brinley Jervah, Sebastian McGinty-Kinderknecht, Blaten Jervah, Braysen Jervah, Thea Kinderknecht, and Rhaena Kinderknecht. Leon Joseph Kinderknecht

After many years of illness, Sharon Kay (Huff) Johnson, 72, passed&nbsp;away on May 20, 2025, in McPherson, Kansas, with her husband and sister at her side. Sharon was born February 9, 1953, in Hinton, Oklahoma, the firstborn of William “Bill” E. and Patsy J. (Moser) Huff. She was a proud “Okie”, and spent her childhood moving between Oklahoma, Nebraska, and Kansas, before settling in McPherson for the rest of her life.

Sharon graduated from McPherson High School in 1971 and worked various&nbsp;jobs until her marriage to Bruce W. Johnson on March 28, 1980, in&nbsp;Miami, Oklahoma. Sharon loved being around children and was delighted to have a child of her own, Nathan, born just one week before the couple’s first anniversary. Bruce and Sharon recently celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary with Nathan, his wife Rebekah, and granddaughters Eszter and Ruth, of Kansas City, Missouri. Sharon is also survived by her stepson, T.J. Johnson, his wife Leyla, and granddaughter Chloe, of Caldwell, Idaho; her sisters, Patricia Starks and Rhonda Coapstick, both of McPherson, Kansas; and by nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, and many other family members and friends. She was preceded in death by both of her parents.

Early in her marriage, Sharon ran a daycare out of her home, then&nbsp;spent almost two decades as a custodian for McPherson Public Schools. She volunteered for many years with BSA Cub Pack 130 and with Relay for Life. She was an active member at Harmony Christian Church for many years and later at New Hope Evangelical Church. Sharon enjoyed singing in the church choir, helping with Vacation Bible School, participating in women’s Bible study, folding weekly bulletins, and helping in the nursery.

Lois E. (Hahn) Ledy passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 18th at the Presbyterian Manor, Salina, Ks. She’s now dancing in Paradise with her beloved Marvin and Savior, Lord Jesus.She was born on December 5, 1924 to Carl and Emma (Tinkler) Hahn on a farm south of Abilene, KS. and soon after, the family moved to the farm east of Gypsum, Ks. She attended Victory grade school and graduated from Gypsum High School in 1942.

She met her husband, Marvin Ledy on a blind date in March of 1943 and they were married a year later on March 8, 1944, just before he was sent overseas for 18 months with the Army. After Marvin’s discharge, they lived in Abilene for two years before moving to a farm north of Talmage, Ks where they raised their three children, Patti, Mike and Marlo. The Ledy’s moved to Abilene after lightning struck and destroyed their home in August 1974.

Over the years, Lois enjoyed a variety of jobs, working for the Duckwall Store, Dickinson County Courthouse, drove a school bus, made beautiful wedding and birthday cakes, worked at the Talmage Bank and Abilene National Bank, the Mutual Aid Insurance, the Abilene School District, was a tour guide for the Seely Mansion and usher for the Great Plains Theatre. She was very honored when, in 1959, she was requested to bake President Eisenhower’s birthday cake during his visit to Abilene.

Also well known for her volunteerism, both in the community and in church, she was an active member of the Talmage Methodist Church and the Abilene First United Methodist Church, serving as Salina District Youth Coordinator, was an adult sponsor on four METour trips and was in charge of the youth organization that organized the Easter Sunrise Service in Brown’s Park. She and her husband received the Volunteers of the Year Award from the Abilene Convention and Tourism Bureau.

Lois was preceded in death by her husband of almost 79 years, her parents, sister Ivalene (Hahn) Lake and baby boy Anderes, great grandson. She is survived by daughters Patti (Bob) Anderes of Hope, KS. and Marlo (Steve) Zumbrunn of rural Junction City, KS., son Michael (Dee) Ledy of Winfield, KS. and brother Leon Hahn, Gypsum, KS.

She was an amazing and beloved grandmother to 7 grandchildren; Jeff Anderes (Diane Pickering), Jennifer (Eric) Dockins, Allison Ledy, Adriene Ledy (Rob Jones), Burton (Kristen) Zumbrunn, Deeann (Jeff) Goseland and Alan (Diana) Zumbrunn.To continue Lois and Marvin’s beautiful legacy are 13 great grandchildren; Raegan Anderes; Baylie Dockins (Drew Robinson), Brooke and BethAnne Dockins, Kerrigan (Stephen Holcomb) Zumbrunn and Kaiden Zumbrunn; Corynn, Bryant and Renly Goseland; Haley and Hannah Zumbrunn; Skyler Ledy (Dravyn Meek), baby R.J. Ledy and the first great, great granddaughter Eliza Mari Ledy to arrive in October.

Funeral services for Lois will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, May 24th at the First United Methodist Church, Abilene. Lois E. Ledy

Karen J. (Gottfrid) Blomquist passed away May 21 after a brief illness. Born November 7, 1937, in Lincolnville, Kansas, she lived and worked in Saline County for most of her life.

Karen graduated from Assaria High School and received both her undergraduate and master’s degrees from Kansas State University. She married Dale Blomquist in 1959, and they worked together farming, running a business and raising a family until Dale’s death in 2007.

Karen worked as a consultant dietitian for many years and in 1987 she and Dale founded Kansas Care, a home health care agency. The business grew to include three locations in Salina, Lyons and Concordia, providing home care and home health to hundreds of local residents. Kansas Care was at the forefront of technology as one of the first providers of telehealth services in Kansas. Karen was honored as the Woman of Achievement for Business and Industry in 2001. Karen maintained the business for several years following Dale’s death, ultimately selling it and moving into the next chapter of life.

Karen always volunteered, serving as a local 4-H leader and as a food and nutrition judge for 4-H at the county and state level. Karen was an active member of Assaria Lutheran Church, singing in the choir, sewing quilts, serving on the Worship and Music Committee, the Altar Guild, and the Church Council. At the time of her death she was a member of the church’s 150th Anniversary Committee and treasurer of the church’s Women of the ELCA. She had been a member of the League of Women Voters and the Lions Club, working on a number of projects with those organizations. After retirement, she worked alongside her grandchildren and their friends making enchiladas and pies for the Southeast of Saline FCCLA.

A proud Wildcat, Karen enjoyed attending K-State football and basketball games, and in 2023 made the trip to Madison Square Garden for the Sweet Sixteen and Elite Eight rounds of the NCAA Men’s basketball tournament. Game nights were not to be interrupted!

Karen’s interests were wide and varied. She was an active reader of the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal. She supported public radio and public television, and read widely.

Karen was the daughter of Joshua and Freda Gottfrid, and the sister of Joshua “Joe” Gottfrid, who resides in Denver, North Carolina. Karen and Dale had three children, Kristin (Raymond Shinn), Ingrid Pohl and Eric (fiancée Amber Fouard), and nine grandchildren, Aaron and Andrew Shinn, Alan, Adrienne (Nathan Flynn) and Anya Pohl, Bridgette (Crosson), Zack and Layne Blomquist. Her brother, children and grandchildren will miss her love and support. Her pride in their achievements and interest in their lives was unwavering and constant. While she is no longer physically present, the example she set will inspire us to keep learning, to look forward, and to love unconditionally.

The funeral will be held Saturday, May 31 at 1 p.m. at Assaria Lutheran Church. Following the burial at Assaria Lutheran Church Cemetery, there will be a reception for friends and family in the church hall.

Margie “Yvonne” Davis (Roettger), a cherished soul who touched the lives of many, passed away peacefully on May 17, 2025, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, surrounded by her devoted family. Born on May 23, 1961, in Long Beach, California, Yvonne was the oldest of 5 and the beloved daughter of Eugene Roettger and Margie Wright.

Margie "Yvonne" Davis, a beloved wife, mother, nana, sister, aunt, and friend, graced the world with her gentle spirit and unwavering love for others. Her life was a testament to resilience, faith, and the quiet strength that comes from selfless service. Known for her infectious laughter and kind heart, Yvonne touched the lives of everyone she met, turning moments into memories that will be cherished forever.

Her gentle demeanor was mirrored in her many acts of kindness and compassion, making her a beacon of hope to those who found themselves in need. Yvonne often carried with her an innate ability to uplift even the weariest of spirits, offering a listening ear and a comforting embrace to anyone who crossed her path. She believed deeply in the power of love and service, values that guided her every step and inspired all who were fortunate to know her. Her dedication to her Catholic faith was clearly reflected in every aspect of her life, serving as an inspiration to those who had the privilege of knowing her. She adhered to the teachings of Jesus: "Love one another as I have loved you," demonstrating this principle through her actions.

Yvonne’s greatest pride and joy was her family. She shared a deep love and enduring bond with her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, creating cherished memories and traditions that will linger in the hearts of her loved ones. Her legacy of love, generosity, and kindness will continue to inspire future generations. She found joy in the simplest of life's pleasures like gardening, baking, and creating handmade gifts that carried her love for those around her. She was a pillar of strength and wisdom to all those who met her.&nbsp; She extended her love and warmth to countless others who affectionately called her “Nana”.

She is survived by her husband, Willard “Lee” Davis, and her eight children: Kris Elston of Salina, Jennifer Lovett of Salina, Kyle (Sonja) Davis of Salina, Jalisha (Steven) Croft of North Dakota, Lee-bo (Sarah) Davis of Salina, Ashley (Kylee) Davis of Junction City, Bryan Davis of Junction City, Morgan (Jacob) Wrench of Lindsborg; sisters, Yvette (Jim) Martin of McPherson, Theresa Roettger of Hitchcock TX, Grace (Donald) Rose of San Leon TX and her lifelong friend Yvonne Liby of Salina; 31 grandchildren; and 2 great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Eugene Roettger and Margie Wright; stepmother, Sarah Roettger; brother, Jimmy Roettger; mother-in-law, Mavis Davis; and brother-in-law’s, Bruce Neill, Kent Neill, Daniel “Loyd” Davis and Gregory Davis.

A celebration of Yvonne’s remarkable life will be held on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at Ryan Mortuary from 4-8 PM, where family will gather to honor her memory, share stories, and find solace in the company of those who loved her from 6-8 with a Rosary at 6:45. Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, May 29, 2025, at St. Mary Queen of the Universe Church at 11 AM and private family burial will be at All Saints Cemetery, Salina, at a later date.

Born on May 23, 1961, in Long Beach, California, Yvonne was the oldest of 5 and the beloved daughter of Eugene Roettger and Margie Wright.Margie "Yvonne" Davis, a beloved wife, mother, nana, sister, aunt, and friend, graced the world with her gentle spirit and unwavering love for others. Her life was a testament to resilience, faith, and the quiet strength that comes from selfless service. Margie “Yvonne” Davis 

Ruth Janette Hill, 94, of McPherson, KS, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, surrounded by family at her home in rural&nbsp; McPherson.

She was born on March 31, 1931, in McPherson, KS, the daughter of J. Melvin and Frances J. (McClain) Moors. Ruth grew up in a rural family where education was a high priority. Her parents instilled the idea in their children that a teacher was an authority, who was admired and valued in the community. As long as Ruth could remember, she always wanted to be a teacher.

Ruth’s first eight years were spent walking to and from a one-room schoolhouse.&nbsp; She enjoyed and excelled in mathematics. Her father was good at math and encouraged her. He was a man who did a lot of mental math, and that interested Ruth greatly. She loved her dad and knew he loved her too.

Ruth graduated from McPherson High School in 1949.&nbsp; She attended her freshman and sophomore years of college at McPherson College and transferred to Kansas State University to graduate in 1953 with a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Mathematics.

On August 24, 1952, Ruth was united in marriage to Dwight Willard Hill in McPherson, KS. This union was blessed with three children, Charlotte, Dallas, and Kris.

For 28 years, Ruth taught math to middle school/junior high &nbsp;students. She taught with a deep appreciation for mathematics. It was important to her to see students accept responsibility for their own learning and be self-disciplined enough to carry through with the required task. She enjoyed seeing former students grow and develop. Ruth took a personal interest in learning about their personal lives, knowing where they live, their families, hobbies and careers. She took many students to math contests across the state. They always made her proud and provided her many fond memories.

Ruth led Camp Fire Girls as a leader or officer for 20 years.&nbsp; She worked with girls of all ages. She took several groups camping in Rocky Mountain National Park. She mentored a young lady to achieve the highest honor of a Wohelo Award as well as earning herself the highest form of recognition and recognizes special people with the Luther Halsey Gulick award. Ruth enjoyed investing in their young lives.

Ruth was a member of Chapter EU of PEO since 1963. She was president three different times and held several additional positions in the chapter. Ruth was an advocate of women in education.

Ruth had several hobbies. She enjoyed: taking, printing, and developing photographs; jeeping and camping with the family and flying.&nbsp; In 1975, she earned her private pilot’s license. She always wanted to fly, and she enjoyed the many friends made through flying activities. Ruth enjoyed playing bridge “to keep her mind active”. Ruth and her granddaughter, Hannah, played SUDOKU. They enjoyed putting puzzles together.&nbsp; According to Hannah, puzzles had to be completed in a day or they were judged “just too hard.”

Ruth retired from teaching in 1992. She then joined the Kansas 99’s. This is a national organization for lady pilots. She always enjoyed their flying activities and served as president in 2003-2005. Their special interest was to help women to become pilots.&nbsp; Ruth was a proud member of the United Flying Octogenarians (UFO).&nbsp; Pilots, after their 80th&nbsp;birthday may join, and she flew herself until 89 years of age.

In 1992, she joined the McPherson Area Retired School Personnel. These former teachers shared much in common.&nbsp; She became treasurer of MARSP in 1999 and continued until they dissolved. She loved people.&nbsp; Ruth was always ready for coffee or volunteer at the American Red Cross. Both provided helpful conversation and service.

Ruth is survived by her loving husband of 72 years, Dwight; three children, Charlotte Keith (Charles Robertson) of Blue Springs, MO, Dallas Hill (Karen) of Los Alamos, NM, and Kris Reeve (Albert) of Salina, KS; a brother, Russell Moors of Manhattan, KS; two grandchildren, Hannah Gift (Michael) of St. Louis, MO and Brett Hill (Katherine) of San Diego, CA; a great-grandson, Michael J. Hill; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, &amp; great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, J. Melvin and Frances Moors and a brother, George Moors.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, Thursday, May 29, 2025, at Stockham Family Funeral Home. The graveside service will be held at 10:30 AM, Friday, May 30, at the McPherson Cemetery with Rev. Dr. Charles Robertson officiating.

Diana Kay Dierks, 81, Topeka, formerly of Salina, died May 19, 2025. She was born Jan. 13, 1944, in Sacramento, CA, the daughter of Ben and Evelyn (Haskett) Collier. She met the love of her life, Heinz Dierks in Salina, KS and was married Nov. 18th, 1961. Diana was a politician and served as a republican member of the Kansas House of Representatives for the 71st&nbsp;District from 2013 until 2021. Her prior careers included being a hospital coordinator for the Herington Municipal Hospital and a realtor in Salina with Salinahomes.com where she was named Realtor of the Year in 2015 and served as a member and former President of the Salina Board of Realtors and the board of the Salina Multiple Listing Service.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Heinz. She is survived by her sons; Paul (Tracy) Dierks, Salina, Chris Dierks, Salina and Erich Dierks (Ramie), Amarillo, TX; and a daughter, Susan (Aaron) Slife, Newton, KS. She has a brother in law, Helmet Dierks of Germany and 13 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.

Memorial services to celebrate her life will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, May 27, 2025 at the Ryan Mortuary, Salina. Inurnment will be private in the Gypsum Hill Cemetery, Salina.&nbsp;

Terry Gene (Butch) McCoy passed away at his home May 20, 2025. He was born in Osborne Ks, on May 30th, 1947, to Walter and Beulah (Saylor) McCoy. He grew up on the farm east of Portis. Attended Portis schools graduating in 1965. Butch enjoyed a life on the river riding his horse, helping his dad on the farm. He enjoyed his friends through school playing basketball and enjoying all youthful activities.

On August 19, 1966, he married his high school sweetheart, Cheril Hofer. The two built a life together. To this union 5 children were born. Julie, Janel, Jared (Karri), Jace (Mandy), Jaylon (Danielle). He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Richard, and niece Roxanne. He is survived by his wife, Cheril of the home, His sister, Lois, his 5 children, and 6 grandchildren.

Terry Gene McCoy

Nancy Jean Bergmann, born on October 9, 1955, in Beloit, Kansas, left this world unexpectedly on May 21, 2025, at Salina Regional Health Center. A dedicated homemaker, Nancy was the heart of her family, renowned for her love and generosity, particularly when it came to feeding those she cherished. Her kitchen, also known as Aunt B’s, was always filled with the delightful aroma of home-made goodness, and she had a knack for ensuring that no one ever left her table with an empty plate.

From making multiple meals to satisfy various tastes, especially for her beloved grandchildren, to her gregarious laugh that filled every room, Nancy had an extraordinary ability to create warmth and joy. It was said that she could barely let you finish your meal before clearing the table, and her infectious humor often had her laughing at her own jokes, even if they weren’t particularly funny. This joyful spirit and vibrant personality made every gathering memorable, and she thrived on having her family around, proudly declaring that she hated a quiet house but always loved a warm one.

Nancy's devotion extended beyond the dining room. She proudly spoiled her grandchildren along with her four boys that meant the world to her. An avid canner during the summer months, she was affectionately known as the "Queen of Canning," sharing her delicious preserves with family and friends. Her passion also translated into crafting beautiful quilts for her grandchildren and spending countless hours birdwatching. She never missed an opportunity to make sure there was grape jelly for her feathered friends and found joy in her newfound love for roosters. She had a zest for life and enjoyed the thrill of garage sales, always on the hunt for the best deals and hidden treasures.

Educated at Downs Elementary School and Beloit High School, Nancy maintained close relationships with her family throughout her life. Her greatest pride came from her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She leaves behind her loving husband, Paul Bergmann, married on December 29, 1973, in Tipton, Kansas. She is survived by her sons, Garrett (Jennifer) Bergmann, Deric (Crystal) Bergmann, Mark (Tara) Bergmann, and Aaron (Catlyn) Bergmann, along with her cherished grandchildren: Raquel Wyman, Devin (Katy), Adrianna (Tanner), Kylie, and Maddox Bergmann; Alyssa Lowe, Candice Bowlin, and Hayley Bergmann; Kolbee, Wylee, and Brantlee Bergmann; Breece and Beckett Bergmann, as well as her beloved great-grandchildren, Gavin and Blakelyn Ford, and Kreed Bergmann along with many nieces and nephews that she adored.

Nancy is also lovingly remembered by her sister, Mary Pirotte (Scott), and her brothers, Craig Miller (Elaine), Vernon Miller (Lavonna), and Eddie Miller (Sonja).

She was preceded in death by her brother, Carl Miller, and her parents, Floyd and Wanda Miller, along with her stepfather, John Reinert, her in-laws, George and Betty Bergmann and sister-in-law, Pat Waltman.

Nancy Jean Bergmann will be sorely missed, not only for her culinary creations and her loving presence but for the laughter and light she brought into the lives of those fortunate enough to call her family. Her legacy of love and devotion will continue to resonate within her family, forever cherished and celebrated.

Nancy Jean Bergmann

Robert L. Sifrit, age 94, of Sandstone Heights Nursing Home in Little River, Kansas, died on May 21, 2025. He was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Mina Mae (Davis) Sifrit.&nbsp;&nbsp;Bob is survived by son Robin (Kathy), son Lynn (Kathy), several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Robert L Sifrit and Erma Bush Sifrit, sisters Waunita (Floyd) Stebbeds and Jerry (Leland) Burkett; brother-in-law, Vinton Davis (Orpha) and sister-in-law, Lorraine (John) Davis.

Bob, whose birth name was Everett Lloyd Krispin, was born on January 19, 1931, to Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Krispin. Robert Laverne Sifrit and Erma (Bush) Sifrit took Bob into their home as a foster child and adopted Bob when he was twelve, as was Bob’s wish. Bob grew up near Beaver, Iowa. Bob and Mina were married on July 4th. Early in their marriage, Bob ran a gas station and then a taxi service. He attended Elsworth (IA) Junior College and graduated from McPherson College (KS) and from Bethany Theological Seminary (IL). Bob was ordained in the Church of the Brethren, pastoring churches in Missouri, Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Iowa, and Illinois. He was recognized for 60 years in ministry. Bob enjoyed fishing, hunting Native American artifacts, and making jewelry.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at 11:00 AM at the Little River (KS) Congregational Church, officiated by Ted Weiss.

Maxine E. Gibbons, 93, of McPherson, KS, and formerly of Denver, CO, peacefully passed away on May 15, 2025, at The Cedars, McPherson.

Maxine was born February 29, 1932, in Tipp City, Ohio, the daughter of M. Jay and Esther E. (Jackson) Coppock.&nbsp; She graduated from Tulia (Texas) High School and continued her education at McPherson College.&nbsp; She was united in marriage to Wade M. Gibbons on May 29, 1951, in Tulia, Texas.&nbsp;

Prior to retirement, she was a receptionist for Wonder Bread.

She is survived by two brothers, Jack Coppock and Rodney Coppock; two grandchildren, Andria Garrett and Jessica Fraker; five great-grandchildren, Rowan, Piper, &amp; Nora Garrett and Jeremiah &amp; Josiah Fraker; and many extended relatives and friends.

Maxine is preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters, Sharon Augustson, Susan Smith, and Joyce Frew; children, Wadine Gibbons and Jay Gibbons; and a grandchild, Jayson Gibbons.

Maxine E. Gibbons

Elizabeth May (Romm) Gragg, 64, of Salina, Kansas, passed away on May 20, 2025. She was born on June 2, 1960, in Salina to Charles and Marlyn (Hamilton) Romm.

Elizabeth married her beloved Mark Gragg on August 1, 1982. Together they built a life centered around family, faith, and service. Elizabeth pursued a career in nursing, earning her RN degree from Asbury School of Nursing. She served faithfully as a nurse for 43 years, including the last 20 years as an oncology nurse at the Tammy Walker Cancer Center, where she was known for her compassion and dedication to her patients.

She was a devoted mother to her sons, Darren (Cassie) Gragg and Jason (Kylee) Gragg, and a proud Mimi to Noah, Ethan, and Ella. Her greatest joys came from attending her grandchildren’s sporting events, sewing, and gardening. She was also an active member of Faith Baptist Church.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Marlyn Romm, and her sister, Connie Hefner.She is survived by her husband, Mark Gragg; her brother, Charles (Nancy) Romm Jr.; Darren (Cassie) Gragg and Jason (Kylee) Gragg; grandchildren Noah, Ethan, and Ella; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Visitation will be held on Monday, May 26, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at Ryan Mortuary.&nbsp; A celebration of Elizabeth’s life will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 27, at Trinity United Methodist Church in Salina.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Faith Baptist Church or the Salina Rescue Mission.

Ronald Gail Hunt, 74, of Hutchinson, KS and formerly of Marquette, KS, peacefully passed away on Sunday, May 18, 2025, surrounded by family at the Hospice House, Hutchinson.

Ron was born April 16, 1951, in McMinnville, OR, the son of Leslie Marlin and Ruby Jean (Andrews) Hunt.&nbsp; He graduated from Marquette High School in 1970 and continued his education at North Central Kansas Area Vocational-Technical School in Beloit, KS. On May 23, 1999, Ron was united in marriage to Deloris Kay “Tudi” Spencer.&nbsp; She preceded him in death on May 3, 2015.

He retired from Buildex, Inc. near Marquette, where he was a heavy equipment operator.&nbsp; Ron loved horses and enjoyed trail riding.

Survivors include a granddaughter, Jennifer “Jenny” Yingling of Hutchinson, KS; siblings, Gayla (Denny) Swisher of Marquette, KS and Leslie (Janelle) Hunt of McPherson, KS; four nieces, Wendy (Michael) Surface, Elizabeth (Trevor) Wilson, Emily (Dennis) Orns, and Edrea Hunt (Shane Parker); and many extended relatives and friends.
