Donald C.&nbsp;“Don”&nbsp;Malin, of Plainville, KS, passed away on December 16, 2022, at the Rooks County Health Center in Plainville, at the age of 84. He was born on May 20, 1938, to Francis P. and Maxine (Colvin) Malin in Codell, KS.&nbsp;Being born on Cyclone Day, Don came into this world&nbsp;early at&nbsp;only 2&nbsp;lbs&nbsp;6 oz and wasn’t expected to live&nbsp;through the night. At 16 years old, Don escaped another demise when a car accident landed him in a body cast for six&nbsp;months resulting in a leg amputee.&nbsp;

Don&nbsp;grew up&nbsp;helping&nbsp;on the farm and&nbsp;attended school&nbsp;in&nbsp;Codell&nbsp;until his accident.&nbsp;He&nbsp;worked asa Roughneck in the oil field&nbsp;during his early years and&nbsp;later worked with his father at Malin Backhoe Trenching&nbsp;for 20 years. He also did auto body work throughout his life. Don was always tinkering and could fix ANYTHING. He loved to restore old cars, especially his Sedan. A scout leader for many years, good storyteller, and historian, many referred to Don as “Big Mo” and “Papa Don."&nbsp;

Don is survived by his children: Shawn Hearld (Carla) of Hays, KS, Justin Hearld (Megan Brown) of Hays, KS, and Angie Armbruster (Lance) of Plainville; siblings: Robert “Bob” Malin (Carol) of Plainville, Virginia Lumpkins of Plainville, Peggy Jore (Jim) of Salina, KS, Betty Davidson (Craig) of Plainville, and Phil Malin of Salina, KS; nine grandchildren: Derek Hearld (Aubrey), Hannah Hearld, Cheyenne Armbruster-Wahrman (Alex), Sage Armbruster, Kyle&nbsp;Nesslinger, Lakota Hearld, Chloe Hearld, Trenton Brown, and Makala Brown; two great-grandchildren: Hudson Hearld and Avery Hearld;&nbsp;numerous&nbsp;nieces and nephews; and many who know him as “Papa Don”. &nbsp;

He is preceded in death by his parents,&nbsp;Francis&nbsp;and Maxine.

It has been said, “kindness is like a seed that when cultivated will continue to grow”.&nbsp;<a></a>Don was a kind man with a heart of gold. Never would you hear him complain when others might say he had a lot he could complain about.&nbsp;He was a man of&nbsp;passion and drive who never let anything stand in his way, not even&nbsp;his&nbsp;disability. His love of, and service to, his family, friends, and community knew no bounds. He taught us by his daily example that a dream does not become reality through magic; it takes sweat, determination, and hard work.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, December 22, 2022, at 10:30 AM, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Plainville. Burial will follow at the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday, 5PM until 8PM&nbsp;with the family receiving friends 5PM until the&nbsp;Vigil Service at 7PM at the funeral home in Plainville.&nbsp;

 She had worked at Hospira, Kansas Department of Transportation, and CertainTeed.

Vickie was born on April 13, 1956, in Woodward, OK, the daughter of Verla Jean (Thompson) and Milas Preston Thompson, Jr.&nbsp; 

She graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1974.

Survivors include special friend, Karen Kobs of McPherson, KS; mother Jean Abbott of Nixa, MO; daughter Vanessa Williams (Luke) of Garfield, AR, grandsons Ian Williams and Hank Williams of Garfield, AR; siblings Connie Hanna (Randy) of Moundridge, KS and Kathy Thompson (Debi) of Hutchinson, KS; and many extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father M.P. Thompson, Jr., and son Todd Regehr.

Charles Newell Eberle was born on September 16, 1929 on a farm in Jewell County, Kansas, the son of Charlie Earl and Violet Gish Eberle. He died Tuesday, December 13, 2022 at the Andbe Home in Norton, Kansas at the age of 93.

He grew up around Glen Elder, and graduated from Glen Elder High School. Following graduation, he served in the United States Army from October 1950 to October 1952.

On February 28, 1952, he was united in marriage with Gayle Louise Moran. Four children were born to this union, Steven Charles, Dana Gayle, Kurtis Earl, and Kelly Rae. They were privileged to spend more than 25 years of marriage together when she died in December, 1977.

On August 2, 1980, he was united in marriage with Luella Maud Gilbert, and they spent more than 26 years of marriage together when she died in February, 2007.

Charles worked for Farmway CO-OP at the Glen Elder Elevator until January 1975 before moving to Norton to manage the CO-OP Elevator. He later managed the CO-OP Elevator in Natoma before moving back to the Glen Elder area in 1981, managing several elevators until his retirement. Following his retirement, he dedicated his time raising llamas, sheep, and goats on his farm in Glen Elder. He enjoyed taking his llamas to petting zoos, fairs, and parades. He also loved history, and was always known as the family historian after his Uncle Leo passed away.

He was an active member of the American Legion, Christian Church, Order of the Eastern Star, and the Masonic Lodge in Glen Elder.

In addition to his wives, he was preceded in death by his parents, sons Steven and Kurtis, and son-in-law Kevin Lyon.

Charles is survived by his daughters Dana Madden and husband Barry, and Kelly Lyon and daughter-in-law, Lisa, all of Norton; step-daughters Valerie Thrasher,&nbsp; Krystal Schwenn and husband Larry;&nbsp; brother Lowell Eberle of Lawrence; eight grandchildren, Heath and Sherry Eberle of Little River, Heather LaRocque of Westmoreland, Aaron and Andrea Eberle of Glen Elder, Casey Madden of Norton, Clay Madden of Norton, Dakota Eberle of Garden City, Chelsey and Tom Huber of Norton, and Tosha and Kyle Kats of Norton; two stepgrandsons; 15 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren, and one on the way; and many relatives and friends.

Gary Gene DeBey was born on October 16, 1947 in Beloit, Kansas, the son of Gene and Thelma Fenton DeBey. He died on Tuesday, December 13, 2022 at the Downs Care and Rehab Center in Downs, Kansas at the age of 75.

He grew up in the Mitchell County area, where he attended schools. Following high school, he attended Ft. Hays State before entering the military, serving in the United States Navy.

Gary returned to Mitchell County, where he farmed near Cawker City. He greatly enjoyed his farming, hunting, fishing, traveling with family, as well as amateur radio. He was a life member of the American Legion Post #379, as well as the U.S.S Wainwright Veterans Association.

Gary is survived by his wife Linda of the home; son Grant and wife Nikki of Cawker City; brother Wayne of Salina; sister Mary Beth of Clay Center; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, December 19 at the Prairie Grove Cemetery in Cawker City. Visitation will be from 3-5 p..m. Sunday, December 18 at the Waconda Funeral Chapel in Cawker City.

Alex Junior Hanschu passed away on December 13, 2022 at Hillsboro, KS. He was born on February 5, 1937 on the family farm in rural Ramona, KS. Junior was the lastborn of Alexander and Susanna (Riffel) Hanschu.&nbsp; 

Trinity Lutheran Church in Ramona was the place of both his baptism (March 7, 1937) and his confirmation of faith (April 2, 1950). Trinity Church is also where Junior married the love of his life, Jeanetta Utech on August 23, 1964.

Farming, family, and faith were at the center of his over 85 years of a life well-lived. Junior never had a different address, as he was born, raised, and lived on the originally-settled Alexander Hanschu farmstead his entire life. He would often say he would only move if it was to the cemetery west of Ramona, and on December 13 the Lord granted that wish. 

Junior was a self-employed farmer/rancher his entire life.&nbsp; He raised crops of wheat, milo, corn, and beans and was extremely proud of his herds of Hereford cattle.

Junior graduated from Ramona High School in 1954, where he played baseball, softball, and basketball. The stories told of how he and his brother Harold were ornery on and off the court were quite fascinating. He continued to play fastpitch softball as an adult, and the stories told of his and Harold’s antics on the diamond are legendary.

Family was extremely important to Junior. The love and support he gave to his children and grandchildren goes beyond comparison. Family gatherings for holidays were something Junior looked forward to and cherished year after year. Whatever the occasion or activity (often a ball game), Junior was there to support and cheer on his children and grandchildren. 

Junior, or Grandpa H as he is fondly referred to by many, became a constant presence in the Centre, Hillsboro, Little River, and Southeast of Saline communities. Grandpa’s love of family and sports, combined with his “I never met a stranger” personality, endeared him to many near and far. And wherever he was going that evening, Junior made sure his attire was the correct color to show his avid support. He also enjoyed watching sports on TV, especially the Royals. If you called Grandpa during a Royals game, you would often get a ‘play-by-play’ of the game during your conversation.

Junior also spent countless hours promoting, supporting, and attending community events around Ramona and Marion County. If there was something going on, you could count on Junior being there. Participating for years in the Ramona Redneck Run on the 4th&nbsp;of July was just one of many things he enjoyed. He served on the Lewis Cemetery Board for many years and was on the Ramona HS Alumni Committee. You could say he was an ‘iconic’ member of the Ramona community. 

Junior served Trinity Church in various capacities (elder, trustee, officer) for decades. Church mattered to Junior, and he was a shining example of Christ-like service for us all to follow.

Junior was also known for his quick wit and ‘dad joke’ humor. When you lost something, he would always say, “I bet you found it in the last place you looked.” It was rare that you visited with Junior and didn’t laugh or grin at something he said. He also had a large collection of hats – you name it, he had the hat. He was also a competitive Pitch card player and was often the life of the party with his uncanny ability to make his bid on nothing but an Ace and Jack. Junior also spent hours reading all his newspapers from cover to cover each week. “Did you see that in the paper?” was often a common conversation starter for him. One can only imagine how many chicken-fried steaks Grandpa ate, as that was his ‘go to’ meal almost every time. He also took pride in keeping a clean house, as that is what he said Mom would have wanted.

Junior was a man of faith. He loved his Lord and Savior Jesus. He relied on prayer and faith to get him through many things. None more so than when he became a widower on January 30, 2010, when his wife of over 45 years passed away. Junior had to learn to live again so to say, which he proudly did so by leaning on his faith. Keeping Christ as the center of his life, Junior again had to lean on his faith as he became a two-time cancer survivor. The example he gave to his children and grandchildren as a Christian was extremely meaningful to his loved ones. In his final hours on earth, one of his final ‘actions’ was to find the strength to move and then fold his hands as the family surrounding him said the Lord’s Prayer.

Junior’s greatest pride and joy was his family, which includes his children Jayson (Jan) Hanschu of Hillsboro, Jennifer (Jeff) Braden of Windom, and Jolene Albrecht of Salina; grandchildren Jakob (Kaylee) Hanschu, Jorge (fiancé Maddy) Hanschu, Jaxxon Hanschu, Josh Braden, Kallie Albrecht, Morgan Albrecht, and Landon Albrecht; sister-in-law Burma Hanschu; brothers-in-law Garland (Dianna) Utech and Marlon (Jill) Utech.

Junior passed away at Hillsboro Community Hospital on December 13, 2022. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Jeanetta, son-in-law Neil Albrecht; brothers Harry, Daniel, Arthur, Wilber, Paul, Harold; sister Velma Krause.

Family will gather for visitation with friends on Sunday, December 18, 2022, from 5-7 p.m. at Yazel-Megli Funeral Home, 902 East D St., Hillsboro, KS, where there will be a prayer service at 7 p.m.

He was born on February 5, 1937 on the family farm in rural Ramona, KS. Junior was the lastborn of Alexander and Susanna (Riffel) Hanschu.&nbsp; Trinity Lutheran Church in Ramona was the place of both his baptism (March 7, 1937) and his confirmation of faith (April 2, 1950). Trinity Church is also where Junior married the love of his life, Jeanetta Utech on August 23, 1964.Farming, family, and faith were at the center of his over 85 years of a life well-lived. Junior never had a different address, as he was born, raised, and lived on the originally-settled Alexander Hanschu farmstead his entire life. He would often say he would only move if it was to the cemetery west of Ramona, and on December 13 the Lord granted that wish. Junior was a self-employed farmer/rancher his entire life.&nbsp; He raised crops of wheat, milo, corn, and beans and was extremely proud of his herds of Hereford cattle.Junior graduated from Ramona High School in 1954, where he played baseball, softball, and basketball. The stories told of how he and his brother Harold were ornery on and off the court were quite fascinating. He continued to play fastpitch softball as an adult, and the stories told of his and Harold’s antics on the diamond are legendary.Family was extremely important to Junior. The love and support he gave to his children and grandchildren goes beyond comparison. Family gatherings for holidays were something Junior looked forward to and cherished year after year. Whatever the occasion or activity (often a ball game), Junior was there to support and cheer on his children and grandchildren. Junior, or Grandpa H as he is fondly referred to by many, became a constant presence in the Centre, Hillsboro, Little River, and Southeast of Saline communities. Grandpa’s love of family and sports, combined with his “I never met a stranger” personality, endeared him to many near and far. And wherever he was going that evening, Junior made sure his attire was the correct color to show his avid support. He also enjoyed watching sports on TV, especially the Royals. If you called Grandpa during a Royals game, you would often get a ‘play-by-play’ of the game during your conversation.Junior also spent countless hours promoting, supporting, and attending community events around Ramona and Marion County. If there was something going on, you could count on Junior being there. Participating for years in the Ramona Redneck Run on the 4th&nbsp;of July was just one of many things he enjoyed. He served on the Lewis Cemetery Board for many years and was on the Ramona HS Alumni Committee. You could say he was an ‘iconic’ member of the Ramona community. Junior served Trinity Church in various capacities (elder, trustee, officer) for decades. Church mattered to Junior, and he was a shining example of Christ-like service for us all to follow.Junior was also known for his quick wit and ‘dad joke’ humor. When you lost something, he would always say, “I bet you found it in the last place you looked.” It was rare that you visited with Junior and didn’t laugh or grin at something he said. He also had a large collection of hats – you name it, he had the hat. He was also a competitive Pitch card player and was often the life of the party with his uncanny ability to make his bid on nothing but an Ace and Jack. Junior also spent hours reading all his newspapers from cover to cover each week. “Did you see that in the paper?” was often a common conversation starter for him. One can only imagine how many chicken-fried steaks Grandpa ate, as that was his ‘go to’ meal almost every time. He also took pride in keeping a clean house, as that is what he said Mom would have wanted.Junior was a man of faith. He loved his Lord and Savior Jesus. He relied on prayer and faith to get him through many things. None more so than when he became a widower on January 30, 2010, when his wife of over 45 years passed away. Junior had to learn to live again so to say, which he proudly did so by leaning on his faith. Keeping Christ as the center of his life, Junior again had to lean on his faith as he became a two-time cancer survivor. The example he gave to his children and grandchildren as a Christian was extremely meaningful to his loved ones. In his final hours on earth, one of his final ‘actions’ was to find the strength to move and then fold his hands as the family surrounding him said the Lord’s Prayer.Junior’s greatest pride and joy was his family, which includes his children Jayson (Jan) Hanschu of Hillsboro, Jennifer (Jeff) Braden of Windom, and Jolene Albrecht of Salina; grandchildren Jakob (Kaylee) Hanschu, Jorge (fiancé Maddy) Hanschu, Jaxxon Hanschu, Josh Braden, Kallie Albrecht, Morgan Albrecht, and Landon Albrecht; sister-in-law Burma Hanschu; brothers-in-law Garland (Dianna) Utech and Marlon (Jill) Utech.Junior passed away at Hillsboro Community Hospital on December 13, 2022. Wayne’s life began on May 10, 1930, in Herington.&nbsp; He is the son of Ivar and Florence (Olson) Hanson.&nbsp; 

Wayne is a graduate of Diamond Valley High School in Burdick.&nbsp; 

He was united in marriage to Nancy Hailey on June 27, 1965, at Hebron Lutheran Church in Burdick.&nbsp;

 Wayne was a faithful member of the Hebron Lutheran Church where he served as the Sunday School secretary and served on the cemetery board and church board.&nbsp; 

He was a farmer and worked at the Herington Sale Barn for many years.&nbsp; Wayne also worked as a carpenter and painter for many over the years.&nbsp; 

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Nancy Hanson of Burdick; children Allen Hanson of Burdick and Connie (David) Johnson of Burdick; grandchildren Kirsten (Shane) Perez and Kodey (Hana) Johnson; great-grandson Kaiman Johnson and sister-in-law Donna Hanson of Herington.&nbsp; 

Wayne passed away on December 13, 2022, at Diversacare of Council Grove.&nbsp; 

He is preceded in death by his parents and brother Gene Hanson.&nbsp;

 His family will gather with friends on Thursday December 22, 2022, from 10-11 a.m. at Hebron Lutheran Church where his memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. led by Pastor Bill Newman and Pastor Devin Wendt.&nbsp; Wayne will be laid to rest in the cemetery he cared for many years, Hebron Lutheran Church Cemetery.

It is with great sadness – as well as our collective joy for many fond memories of a life well-lived – that the family of Mary Beth Argo Collett wishes to inform the community of her recent passing. Suffering from the effects of Alzheimer’s disease, Beth was most recently a resident at St. Luke’s Living Center in Marion, Kansas, where she died on Wednesday, December 14, 2022. &nbsp;

Born on May 24, 1931 to Ethel &amp; Sam Spinden of rural Burns, Kansas, Beth graduated from Burns High School and attended El Dorado Junior College and Emporia State Teachers College where she obtained her teaching certificate in 1952. 

Following certification she taught fifth grade in Leon before becoming a third grade teacher at Skelly elementary school in El Dorado until her three children (David, Nancy and Don) came along. 

From that time forward, Beth transformed herself into the “All-American Mom” while raising her children along with husband Bob, who was employed at Skelly Refinery. 

After Bob’s untimely and premature death in 1978, Beth resumed her education career by first working as Library Assistant in El Dorado’s USD 490 grade schools and then later by enrolling at Wichita State University as a 50-something-year-old student where she successfully obtained a bachelor’s degree in education with specific focus on library studies. She then assumed full-time librarian duties in El Dorado schools, and was later named El Dorado’s Middle School Librarian, a role in which Beth served until retiring in 1994. 

Beth’s retirement and her subsequent relocation from El Dorado to a small farmstead in the Flint Hills east of Marion, Kansas was the result of a totally unexpected, but incredibly fulfilling, second chance at love with Howard Collett, a gentleman farmer with deep family roots along Middle Creek. Beth and Howard got married on December 11, 1992 and recently celebrated their 30th&nbsp;anniversary. The blended Argo-Collett family has grown to include seven children, 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her first husband, Bob, Beth was predeceased by father Sam, mother Ethel, sister Ruth, and brothers Bill, Fred and Chalmers. 

She is survived by son David (Diane) Argo, daughter Nancy Argo, and son Don Argo, sons Randy (Rachel) Collett and Keith (Ann) Collett, daughters Collette (Rick) Erickson and Melinda (Martin) Gravenstein, sister June (Gene) Countryman, brother John (Rita) Spinden, and a multitude of blended family members who will try to emulate her kind-hearted spirit and outward affection towards others. 

Visitation with the family is scheduled for Saturday, December 17 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Yazel-Megli Funeral Home in Marion, with private burial to be held at a later date.

Steven (Steve) J. Stroda died at his home in rural Hope December 14, 2022, with his wife of 53 years by his side, and was greeted in heaven by his grandson Tate Riedy. He was born on April 21, 1947, to Max and Joan (Strait) Stroda of Hope. 

Steve was raised on the farm; he loved that life. 

He graduated from Hope High School with the class of 1965. It was there that he met his wife, Barbara. They began dating their junior year of high school.

After high school Steve went to farming right away and spent the rest of his days after retirement doing what he loved, driving around the countryside, visits with family and time relaxing with their rescue dogs. 

Steve and Barbara (Backhus) were united in marriage April 19, 1969, at St. Phillips Catholic Church in Hope, where he was a lifetime member.

God blessed them with four daughters, Pamela (Chris) Krause of Junction City, Renae (Casey) Riedy of Woodbine, Debra (John) O’Bray of Topeka and Kimberly (Doug) Diekmann of Woodbine.

Steve wasn’t quite sure what to do with four girls on the farm. But he taught them the value of a dollar, how to put in the hard work to where you want to be in life, drive a tractor, bin wheat and how not to hook a fence row. He was a 4-Her and 4-H Dad. It was hard work and multiple trailers hauling loads to the fair each year.

Those years were the family vacations from daily tasks on the farm. He loved to chat and visit with people he would see. Show animals were important and he was more than happy to stay the night to watch over the animals. He embraced his sons-in-law the only way he knew how, and quickly realized why God gave him girls to raise. Steve enjoyed dry land farming and raised cattle in his younger years. He was a tractor enthusiast at heart so driving, riding and in later years collecting antique and toy tractors was a passion for him.

His grandkids were his pride and joy, and he was extremely proud of each of them.&nbsp; 

Steve is survived by his wife, daughters and their spouses and grandchildren: Whitney (Aaron) Broxterman, Paige (Cole) Wildman, Chase (fiancé Sydney) Krause, Drew Riedy, Hannah Riedy, Leah Riedy, Colton O’Bray, Carter O’Bray, Avery O’Bray, Addison O’Bray, Grace Diekmann, Emilee Diekmann, and Logan Diekmann. He loved to get visits from his great-grandchildren Greyson Broxterman, Brynlee Broxterman, Wyatt Wildman, Paityn Wildman, and baby Broxterman due in April.

Besides his parents, he is proceeded in death by his grandson Tate and sister Sherry Little. 

He is survived by siblings Linda Peters and Janet Barrett.

Steve was a simple man and his request was to be cremated. A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, December 22, 2022, at the Hope Annex from 2-4 p.m.&nbsp; 

The family designated memorials for Helping Hands Humane Society-Topeka (for his love of rescue dogs), Most Pure Heart of Mary, Catholic Schools-Topeka (playground equipment) and Neighbor to Neighbor- Abilene (where they frequently donated their extra garden produce). &nbsp;Memorials may be sent to 1242 Quail Road, Hope, KS 67451.

He embraced his sons-in-law the only way he knew how, and quickly realized why God gave him girls to raise. Steve enjoyed dry land farming and raised cattle in his younger years. He was a tractor enthusiast at heart so driving, riding and in later years collecting antique and toy tractors was a passion for him.His grandkids were his pride and joy, and he was extremely proud of each of them.&nbsp; Steve is survived by his wife, daughters and their spouses and grandchildren: Whitney (Aaron) Broxterman, Paige (Cole) Wildman, Chase (fiancé Sydney) Krause, Drew Riedy, Hannah Riedy, Leah Riedy, Colton O’Bray, Carter O’Bray, Avery O’Bray, Addison O’Bray, Grace Diekmann, Emilee Diekmann, and Logan Diekmann. He loved to get visits from his great-grandchildren Greyson Broxterman, Brynlee Broxterman, Wyatt Wildman, Paityn Wildman, and baby Broxterman due in April.Besides his parents, he is proceeded in death by his grandson Tate and sister Sherry Little. Ivan R. Edsall, age 76 of Victoria, Kansas, passed away Thursday, December 15, 2022, at Brookdale Assisted Living Center of Salina.

He was born October 19, 1946, at Hays, Kansas, to Theron C. and Anna Barbara (Weber) Edsall. &nbsp;He married Kathleen Ann (Braun)-Spiess {his favorite fishing partner} on March 23, 1996, at Hays, Kansas. &nbsp;She preceded him in death on December 16, 2017.

He retired from Dreiling Oil of Victoria, Kansas, in 2018, as production foreman. &nbsp;He worked for Dreiling Oil for over 45 years, and prior to the oil division he worked on the Dreiling’s farm for ten years. &nbsp;Ivan grew up on the family farm North of Victoria, was a graduate of Victoria High School, and a member of The Basilica of St. Fidelis.

Survivors include his stepchildren, Jason Spiess, Paradise, KS; Kelly Wellbrock and husband, Brett, Salina, KS; Melanie Dennis and husband, Travis, Salina, KS; his step grandchildren, Sophia,&nbsp;Gage, and&nbsp;Jace&nbsp;Spiess; &nbsp;Carson and Julia Wellbrock; James and&nbsp;Michael Dennis; and his four legged friend, Coco.

Ivan was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Anna;&nbsp;his wife, Kathy;&nbsp;his brothers, Frank and Daniel Edsall. &nbsp;

Melba  Domoney, 96, passed away December 15, 2022.

She was born in  Oakley, Kansas, on May 31, 1926, the daughter of John and Mary (Dufton) Whiting.  Melba graduated from Downs High School and the University of Kansas.  She married John S. Domoney on June 13, 1948. They were blessed to become the proud parents of three sons: Duff, Darcy, and Dewey.  John &amp; Melba were co-owners of the family business, Domoney’s Furniture and Funeral Home for many years.  Melba worked at the State Bank of Downs and then devoted her time to being a full time wife and mother.  John and Melba celebrated 53 years of marriage before his death in 2001. They took over 30 trips to places such as Ireland, Alaska, Hawaii, as well as other parts of the United States and Europe.

She was very dedicated in attending her children’s and grandchildren’s school and sports activities.

Over the years, Melba diligently visited local nursing home residents, wrote letters and sent sympathy, birthday, and get well cards to many people until her vision became impaired. For many years, her daily walks included carrying a bag to pick up trash along her route.

Melba was a loyal and dedicated KU Jayhawk fan!

Melba was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church, as well as a member of Quest Club, Senior Center, and enjoyed her bridge clubs.

She is preceded in death by her husband, John; sister, Betty Eaton

Bradley Wayne Sjoholm, 41, of Quinter, Kansas, passed away on December 12, 2022, with&nbsp;immediate family at bedside after complications due to organ failure.

Brad was born on July 18, 1981, in Hoisington, Kansas, to John and Judy (Harris) Sjoholm.

Brad always had a smile on his face and was generous with his time, hard work, and his huge heart. He enjoyed the outdoors, tinkering with machinery, working with his hands, and being&nbsp;with friends and family. Brad had a tender heart for those he loved and a strong love for all&nbsp;animals.

He attended elementary school in Hoisington and completed his education in Hays, Kansas.

He continued on to get his associates degree in electrical technology in Beloit, Kansas. Brad resided in Ellis, Park, and finally in Quinter, Kansas.

Brad is survived by his parents of Hays, brother Kyle (Tricia) Sjoholm of St. Louis, MO; sister Kate (Lane) Hensley of McPherson, KS; Uncle Terry and Aunt Nancy Hopp, of Marquette, KS; and cousins: Jennifer (Curt) Isernhagen, St. Paul, MN; Brian (Kendra) Hopp, McPherson, KS, and Amanda (Josh) McMahan, McPherson, KS. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Aunt Suzi Gruber, and cousin Jeff Hopp.

Graveside services will be held at Elim Lutheran Cemetery in Marquette, KS, at a future date.

Ronald was a current Great Bend resident. He enjoyed comic books and 
superheroes, especially Spider-Man and Superman. Ronald's brothers would

She later graduated from Venus Beauty College in Wichita. Nyla worked as a beautician for a shop in McPherson before opening her own shop in Moundridge. After her marriage, she opened Nyla’s Beauty Shop out of her own home until 1980. Nyla later worked in the beauty shop at Pine Village for 13 years. She was a member of the Moundridge United Methodist Church. Nyla was also involved in the UMW, FCE and Red Hats.

She loved to garden, bake, paint, play cards, sew, knit and crochet. Nyla enjoyed winter and the snow, especially when she could snowmobile. She also enjoyed going to garage sales, antique shops and camping. She was united in marriage to Raymond “Ray” Stucky on October 24, 1959 in Moundridge. He preceded her in death on February 22, 2012. Nyla is survived by her two sons Ty (Vicky) Stucky of Newton, and Kyle Stucky of Moundridge; four grandchildren, Matthew Stucky, Megan (Anh) Stucky-Phan, Cole (Marissa) Stucky, and their two children, Emmett and Evelyn; and Connor Stucky. She was also preceded in death by her parents; and four siblings, Max Westerman, Betty Krehbiel, Norma Huffman, and Jerry Westerman. Dorothy Maxine Wallis, 84, of McPherson, Kansas, passed away at 8:30 p.m., Monday, December 12, 2022 at Cedars House in McPherson. Maxine was born in Granite City, Illinois on March 20, 1938, a daughter of Esther Helen (Boelling) Rice and Frank Arnold. Maxine attended Venice Grade School and Venice High School, Venice Illinois and graduated from Joliet High School, Joliet, Illinois, in 1956. Through the years Maxine managed Doctor's Emergency Medical Services, Joliet, Illinois along with several other medical offices in Joliet. She was the business manager for the McPherson Hospital, McPherson, Kansas until she retired in 2003. After retirement she worked for the McPherson YMCA and taught dance and Silver Sneakers Fitness Classes. Maxine loved to share her dancing talent with many generations. She enjoyed teaching dance and clogging for Sunflower Stompers in McPherson. Maxine enjoyed dancing and performing, and scrapbooking with her friends. Maxine Arnold was united in marriage to Donald Longanecker on Aug. 17, 1957 in Joliet, Illinois. The young couple established their first home together in Joliet. This union was with the birth of a daughter, Denise. Maxine was then united in marriage to Eldred Wallis in 1982 in Joliet. She is survived by her daughter Denise O' Connor-Munsey and her husband Jim of McPherson, Kansas; her brother Jerry Rice and his wife Sheri of Woodward, Oklahoma. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Erin O' Connor(Austin Russell), Kevin O'Connor, Colleen Krizek(Cole) and Patrick Munsey. Maxine is proceeded in death by her parents; her husband Eldred and a niece, Lauren Rice. Hazel I. Ekholm, age 99, passed away at the Wesley Towers Thorne Care Center, Hutchinson, KS, on December 13, 2022.&nbsp; She was born August 26, 1923, on the rural Conway family farm.&nbsp; She was the daughter of Dewey C. Slabach and Lottie K. (Rump) Slabach.&nbsp; 

She graduated from Windom High School in 1941.

On March 24, 1946, Hazel was united in marriage to Wilmer Oscar Ekholm in Hutchinson, KS.&nbsp; They lived on a farm south of Windom all their married life until moving to Hutchinson in 2011. He preceded her in death on January 15, 2013.

She worked as a secretary for Farmers Alliance Mutual Insurance, McPherson and for Cessna, Hutchinson.

She was a longtime member of Andover Lutheran Church, rural Windom.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; sisters Pauline Scott, Thelma Barcus, and Marjorie Goertzen; a brother, Kenneth Slabach; brothers-in-law Myron Scott and Steve Barcus; and nieces Peggy Pope and Sharon Davis.

Survivors include brother-in-law Wayne Goertzen of Buhler; sister-in-law Lois Slabach of Clearwater; nephews Jim Barcus of Wichita, Richard Barcus (Kathy) of Wichita, Brock Slabach of Leawood, Troy Slabach (Michelle) of Newton, Lyle Goertzen (Natalie) of Buher, and Wendell Goertzen (Terri) of Buhler; nieces Kay McDoniel (Mack) of Wichita, Dee McCarty (Max) of Norwalk, CA, Becky Ratzlaff (Myron) of Bel Aire, and Julie Nauss (Jim) of Berthoud, CO. Survivors on the Ekholm side include nephews Bob Raleigh, Jr. (Cindy) of Rockford, IL, Rick Raleigh (Pam) of Fremont, WI, and Richard Birkes (Mae) of McPherson; nieces Judy Clark (Preston) of Hutchinson, KS, Gwen Oleen (Glenn) of Falun, KS, and Renee Raleigh of Rockford, IL; and many more extended family and friends.

Dwight was a talented musician with the ability to play many instruments. He was most known for his guitar playing and was a member of many bands throughout the years.

Dwight is survived by his mother Edna Swayden of Medicine Lodge, KS; brother Bryan Thom (Tonya Wise) of Ellsworth; stepsisters Jodi Swayden of Medicine Lodge and Jackie Swayden of Pratt; and nephew and niece, Kael and Jalynn Bridges. 

He was preceded in death by his father Harlan Thom and stepfather Leroy Swayden.
