Jackie Bernice Meuli&nbsp;went to her heavenly home on Thursday, November 10, 2022.&nbsp; She was born in Abilene, Kansas to Jacob and Gladys Rittgers on December 29, 1951.&nbsp; 

She attended Abilene schools and graduated from Abilene High School in 1969. &nbsp;

After a whirlwind romance (less than three months), she married Steve Meuli in 1971.&nbsp; 

Jackie was quickly converted from a city girl to a farm wife.&nbsp; They made their home in rural Elmo, while working side by side on the family farm.&nbsp; Steve and Jackie started a family, which was Jackie’s dream.&nbsp; They were blessed with four children and everyone in the family was involved in some aspect of the farm. &nbsp;

Jackie started her Christian walk when she and Steve accepted Christ as their Lord and Savior in the early '70s.&nbsp; 

She was an amazing mother and grandmother and loved to have her family together.&nbsp; In her spare time, she liked baking, crafting, and working in her yard.&nbsp; Her colorful collection of irises was something she loved to tend and share with others.&nbsp; She also loved to share her homemade jellies, cookies, and other baked items with family and friends.

Jackie was proceeded in death by her parents, her half-sister Karen Sexton, half-brother Joe Grubbs, brother Darrel Rittgers.

She is survived by her husband Steve of rural Elmo; son Micheal (Monika) Meuli of Abilene; daughters Jennifer (Todd) Rohrer of Wakefield, Rebecca Meuli of Elmo, and Katie (Kris) Bogart of Abilene; grandchildren Mason Rohrer, Grace Rohrer, Steven Bogart and Stockton Bogart; brother Jimmy Rittgers of Abilene; sisters Vickie Faulkner of Abilene and Emma Aills of Salina.

Visitation with the family will be held on Thursday, November 17th from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the Community Bible Church in Abilene, Kansas.&nbsp; A memorial service is planned for Friday, November 18th, at 2:00 p.m., also at Community Bible Church.&nbsp; Light refreshments will be served after the service in the church basement. &nbsp;

Memorial donations may be made to The Pregnancy Service Center of Salina or Samaritan’s Purse.

Rory Dee Schropp, 65, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones in the Lindsborg Community Hospital on November 6, 2022. He was born May 6, 1957, to loving parents Harold and Frances (Hawk) Schropp in Lyons, Kansas.

Family was always the most important thing to Rory. He adored his parents, siblings, and extended family, and always had a close emotional connection with family pets. Throughout his childhood Rory loved anything with an engine, and was extremely passionate about music. A natural-born, talented musician, he played drums from a young age, and joined multiple rock and roll bands in his teen and early adult years, where he drummed and sang.

He was drawn to the outdoors, working with his hands, and loved the thrill of motor sports. He mastered skillful driving through practice on go-carts, dirt bikes, and motorcycles. Some of which were hand-built by his father. Rory eventually moved on to working on cars, and later in life, heavy equipment. He loved to go on fishing trips to Lake Havasu with his brother Lonny, their father Harold, his uncle Dean, and his grandfather. It was those trips where he learned to water ski and became enthusiastic about boating and water sports.

Rory graduated from Alta Loma High School in Alta Loma, California in 1975, where he was part of the Alta Loma High School Drumline, and marching band. Following graduation he moved with his family to Assaria, KS, where he attended Bethany College as a music major. 

He soon joined his father in the family highway construction business, Schropp Company, Inc. Working alongside his father and uncle in the family business, Rory was a heavy equipment operator, and taught himself to perform the mechanical repairs of the equipment. After 20 years in business Schropp Company, Inc. closed shop, and Rory started his own trucking business. He spent the remainder of his years being the dedicated hard worker he had always been.

Raising four children, and being a loving, adventurous and playful father was his most important role. While raising his family Rory shared his passion for music, motor sports, and animals with his children. When relaxing with his family on the weekends, there were often rock and roll records being played in the house. He always had instruments around, and played the drum set for his kids often, and always encouraged his children to be involved in making and appreciating music. Like his father, he hand-built his children a go-cart, giving them the same thrill of driving and motor sports. He enjoyed taking his family boating and jet skiing, and spending time outdoors surrounded by extended family.

Rory maintained his hobbies and continued to share them with his adult children, even playing in a band for several years with his youngest son. He taught himself the bass and electric guitar, the latter of which became his greatest musical love. He could still be found enjoying music with his kids or engaging in “jam sessions” with his sons until the very end of his life.

Rory was a kind and generous soul. He was a loving, protective, proud father, brother, son, and friend. Rory was a man who voiced his love, affection, and appreciation any time he spoke to you. To know him was to love him, and to be loved in return.

Rory is survived by his four children, Anthony Montalbano (41), Brooklyn, NY, Nicholas Ely-Schropp, (38), Lindsborg, KS, Shandi Schropp-Olson (Eli) (36), Lindsborg, KS, and Ian Schropp (35) Lindsborg, KS; grandchildren Kelly, Dakota, Tirzah, and Wade Ely, and Braylon, Amaya, and Jaxton Olson; great-grandchildren Gavin and Colton Kinney; siblings Lonny Schropp (Jackie), Assaria, KS, Jona Schropp, Lindsborg, KS, and Jeremy Schropp, Eugene, OR; along with many cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces, and nephews, and other extended family members and friends. 

He is preceded in death by his parents Frances Joan Schropp (Hawk) and Harold Dee Schropp, and first wife and mother of his children, Cynthia Lee Crable.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 12, 2022, at Ryan Mortuary in Salina, KS. Visitors can come as early as 1:00 p.m. for viewing and to say final good-byes.

September 10, 1996 ~ November 5, 2022 (age 26)

SALINA -&nbsp;Jake Logan Luther, 26, caring husband, adoring stepfather and loyal friend to many, passed away November 5, 2022. He began his life of overcoming odds when he defied the doctor’s prognosis and was born on September 10, 1996, in Wichita to his loving mother Nancy Carloyn Luther, who preceded him in death in 2016.

Jake was a survivor of accidents at ages 10 and 25, both requiring him to learn to walk again. He persevered through physical and emotional pain to provide for his family and to make everyone around him laugh and feel loved. 

Jake’s grit and strong will showed up in the way he loved people deep enough to speak the truth and fearlessly share the good news of Jesus. Jake was actively involved at Revolution Church and pursued fellowship with his Journey Family, Bikers for Christ and his many loving friends. 

He found purpose serving the guests at the Salina Rescue Mission and working with individuals of all ages with disabilities. 

He was a child at heart who loved finding creative ways to play with his stepchildren. He loved spoiling them, cheering for them, and taking them on motorcycle rides. He adored his wife Ashley and stepped into the husband and stepfather role with pride and honor. 

He was a brave brother running the dangerous “sweep” position when riding with his fellow members of Bikers for Christ. Yet he was also a softie earning the nickname ‘June Bug’ from his wife because of his fear of the insect.

He is survived by his loving wife Ashley Marie Luther and stepchildren Briley Vallejo, Amadeus Vallejo, and BellaRose Kitchen; his father Loran Walter Luther; stepmother Starla Fauci-Wills; sisters Orion Fauci-Wills and Serenity Reeves; dear friend Tyler Wolf; and the many other friends and family Jake touched during his life.

In addition to his mother Nancy, Jake is preceded in death by his grandparents Clifford and Ruth Spear, and Logan and Tonya Luther.

One of Jake’s favorite verses: “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. with family present from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, November 11, 2022 at Ryan Mortuary.&nbsp; A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, November 12th at CrossRoads Church, Salina.&nbsp; Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery, Minneapolis. &nbsp;

He attended Sterling Elementary School and graduated from Sterling High School in 1960. He was drafted into the United States Army and served in the Dental Unit in Baumholder, Germany.

On April 13th, 1968, he was united in marriage to Linda Justus at Salem Church of the Brethren, west of Nickerson. After a honeymoon to San Antonio, they lived in Hutchinson until 1980, when they moved to Salina.

In January 1966, he went to work for Singleton-Joyce Optical, where he mentored under Earl Singleton. Later, he worked for Drs. McCormick, Mogel, and Young. After moving to Salina, he worked for Duffens Optical until he retired in 2007.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father; infant brother Albert; brothers Wayne, Clifford, and Alfred Waggoner; and sister Luella Niday.

He is survived by his wife Linda; daughter Michelle Baxter; brother Glenn Waggoner; an extended family, Randy Whitley (Gail); grandsons Randall Whitley, Levi Whitley (Katie), Matthew Whitley (Jaelyn), Yeoman Whitley (Aubrey), Taylon and Meechie Whitley; granddaughters Xanadu Whitley, Desiree Whitley (John Miller); great-grandchildren Kiara Rugg, Airiana Wogoman, Jackson and Tessa Whitley, Hunter, Aiden, and Justice Miller, Justin, Harper, Esther, Judeth, Joanna, and Decklan Whitley.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, November 19, 2022 at Sunrise Presbyterian Church, 825 E. Beloit, Salina, Kansas. Interment will be at a later date.

Thursday, November 17, 1938, and passed away Thursday, October 27, 2022,&nbsp; with her family at her side.&nbsp; A Thursday child; generous and loving 
throughout her life. 
As a child of the Great Depression, Myredith's early life was not easy. 
She worked in the orchard and garden, fished with her brothers in a 
nearby river, and froze her fingers raising ducks to help support her 
family. But she walked away from her childhood with a strong faith, a 
loving and supportive family, compassion for those less fortunate, a 
sharp-witted sense of humor, and a belief that determination and hard 
work would bring a brighter future. 
She was married twice, first to Ronald C. Tonne with whom she had four 
children.&nbsp; They lived in Norton, Kansas, where she worked as the Clerk 
of the District Court.&nbsp; She moved to Salina, Kansas in 1978 and later 
married Kenneth. E. Buss, creating a loving family that would last until
 his death in 2019.&nbsp; Ken made her laugh, loved her endlessly, and broke 
her heart with his passing. They were both devoted grandparents, 
attending all of life's events with great joy! 
Myredith gave love through acts of kindness: sharing recipes, teaching 
us to cook and bake. Fruits and vegetables were treasures, especially if
 they were free and picked by hand – they found their way into jellies 
and jams, salads and jello desserts to be relished each year on our 
holiday tables. 
She always had a project in the works! She gifted us all treasured 
holiday decorations, hand-crocheted pillowcases, and beautiful quilts, 
and she lovingly mended the stuffed animals of her grandchildren – a 
labor of love that continued even with arthritic hands and failing 
eyesight. 
Myredith found beauty in everyday things: watching her flowers grow, the
 smell of baking cinnamon rolls, the croaking of frogs, and the chatter 
and giggles of children at play.&nbsp; She enjoyed the fellowship of Mentor 
Methodist Church and spoke of time spent with friends from the choir, 
countless pancake breakfasts with friends and grandkids, and the comfort
 she found in this supportive community. &nbsp; 
With broken hearts and appreciation for the beautiful life she stitched 
together and shared with us are two of her siblings, Henry Elder and 
Annie Nelson, three of her children, Arden Tonne, Ronda Blatt, and Byron
 Tonne, her stepchildren Melinda Sevedge and Steve Buss, daughters and 
sons by marriage, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many friends. 
We will miss her but know that she will be welcomed to eternity with 
heavenly hugs from her husband Kenneth Earl of 37 years, her cherished 
son Terry Allen Tonne who sadly left us way too soon, and many others 
who shared her life. 
A service celebrating her life will be held on Saturday, November 26th,&nbsp; at 11:00 a.m. at the Mentor Methodist Church, 616 E. Mentor Rd., Assaria, 
Kansas 67416.&nbsp;

Brenda Renee Peterson, 82, passed away on November 7, 2022, at her home in Lincoln, KS following a year-long battle with cancer. She was born April 16, 1940, in Linn, KS to William and Leota (Boda) Karstensen.

Brenda married Dean Arthur Dohe in Denmark, KS on February 11, 1962. The couple had three children, Brian, David, and Roland, and later divorced. On November 30, 2000, she married Richard Walter Peterson in Denmark, KS and enjoyed nearly 22 years together until Richard’s passing on January 30, 2022. 

Three of Brenda’s favorite professional experiences were with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Arthur Anderson, and the Resolution Trust Corporation. 

Brenda was an active member of Denmark Lutheran Church, Denmark Hall, Denmark Dames, and the Lincoln County Historical Museum and served for many years as an election board worker. Brenda cherished visits with family and friends and valued her Christian faith. If Brenda were writing this, she would ask you to love God, love people, and volunteer!

Brenda is survived by her sons Brian (formerly married to Lori), David (Tina), Roland (Jonelle), and grandchildren Trent, Chandler (Callie), Erik (Peyton), William, and Goldie. Surviving siblings include Rickie (Larry) Andersen, Jade (Joe) Scarlett, and Dudley (Charlotte) Karstensen. Through her marriage to Richard, she gained a stepdaughter, Tawnya (J.H.) Seitz, stepsons Larry Gott and Gary Peterson, and step-grandchildren Alexandrea, Victoria, and Nicholas Feldkamp. In early January 2023, a great-granddaughter, Adley Frances Dohe, will join the family. 

Brenda was preceded in death by William and Leota Karstensen, Dean Dohe, Gary Peterson, and Richard Peterson.

Closed casket visitation is Wednesday, November 16 from 1:00 – 7:00 p.m. and the family will receive guests from 4:00 to 7:00. The funeral service is Thursday, November 17, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at Hall Chapel, Lincoln, KS with burial following in the Denmark, KS cemetery. A luncheon in the Denmark Hall will follow.

She met the love of her life, Merle Hamilton, at Haven Baptist Church and was married June 1, 1956. Barbara was a member of the Haven Baptist Church. She loved Jesus and served as a Sunday school teacher, social chair lady, and Awana volunteer. Barbara sang in the choir and in a ladies trio. She loved her family and spending time watching her children, grandchildren, brothers, nieces, nephews compete in sports and participate in other activities. She was a cook at Haven Grade School for 27 years. Barbara was an avid reader. Barbara was preceded in death by her mother and father; her brothers Daryl, Buck, Ted; and sister Darlene.

<a href="https://www.stockhamfamily.com/obituaries/jerome-jerry-land"></a>Jerome “Jerry” Leonard Land was born on October 2, 1933, at the home of his grandmother in Juniata, NE to Charles L. and Josephine L. (Fifield) Land.

After graduating high school in Omaha in 1952, he joined the army and served during the Korean war, stationed in Germany. 

He attended college and graduated with a degree in draftsmanship after which he went to work for the Metropolitan Water District in Los Angeles.

In 1958, he married Jacqueline Strahan in San Bernardino, CA, adopting her son, Steve. The couple had two more children, Linda and Todd.

He married Ruth Potter Black Milliken on April 13, 1991, at Clark, NV. They lived at several locations in California where Jerry owned a pest control business, The Fly Guy. He was always a diligent and conscientious worker and a savvy business owner.

After retirement, he and Ruth moved to Moundridge, KS, and later to McPherson, KS, to be near family.

 Jerry was an expert woodworker and made many beautiful pieces of furniture for his and Ruth’s home as well as making gifts for family members. He and Ruth always had a beautiful home, and they enjoyed sharing it with family, especially on the 4th&nbsp;of July holiday when there was usually a cookout and fireworks. Jerry enjoyed being around the extended family and celebrating many holidays with 3-4 generations. 

Jerry and Ruth attended McPherson Free Methodist Church and more recently, Cornerstone Bible Church.

Jerome Leonard Land passed into eternity on Tuesday, November 8, 2022, at Hospice House, Hutchinson, after several years of declining health. He was eighty-nine.

He is survived by his wife Ruth Land of Hutchinson, KS; sister Dolores Phelps of Florida; daughter, Linda Hess (Robert) of Twin Falls, ID; and sons Steve Land and Todd Land (Jerry Reinke) of Joplin, MO; grandchildren Serena Riley, Skylar Land, and Ryan Land; brother-in-law Larry Potter of Inman, KS; several nieces and nephews and many friends.

He was predeceased by his parents; stepson Wesley M. Black; brother-in-law Richard Potter; sister-in-law Judith Potter; and great nephew Christopher Shepard.

A memorial service will take place at Stockham Family Funeral Home in McPherson at 11:00 a.m.on Friday, November 18, 2022, with Rev. Tom Mayse officiating.&nbsp; Burial with Military Honors will follow at McPherson Cemetery.

(Fifield) Land. After graduating high school in Omaha in 1952, he joined the army and served during the Korean war, stationed in Germany. He attended college and graduated with a degree in draftsmanship after which he went to work for the Metropolitan Water District in Los Angeles.In 1958, he married Jacqueline Strahan in San Bernardino, CA, adopting her son, Steve. The couple had two more children, Linda and Todd.He married Ruth Potter Black Milliken on April 13, 1991, at Clark, NV. They lived at several locations in California where Jerry owned a pest control business, The Fly Guy. He was always a diligent and conscientious worker and a savvy business owner.After retirement, he and Ruth moved to Moundridge, KS, and later to McPherson, KS, to be near family. Jerry was an expert woodworker and made many beautiful pieces of furniture for his and Ruth’s home as well as making gifts for family members. He and Ruth always had a beautiful home, and they enjoyed sharing it with family, especially on the 4th&nbsp;of July holiday when there was usually a cookout and fireworks. Jerry enjoyed being around the extended family and celebrating many holidays with 3-4 generations. Jerry and Ruth attended McPherson Free Methodist Church and more recently, Cornerstone Bible Church.Jerome Leonard Land passed into eternity on Tuesday, November 8, 2022, at Hospice House, Hutchinson, after several years of declining health. He was eighty-nine.He is survived by his wife Ruth Land of Hutchinson, KS; sister Dolores Phelps of Florida; daughter, Linda Hess (Robert) of Twin Falls, ID; and sons Steve Land and Todd Land (Jerry Reinke) of Joplin, MO; grandchildren Serena Riley, Skylar Land, and Ryan Land; brother-in-law Larry Potter of Inman, KS; several nieces and nephews and many friends.He was predeceased by his parents; stepson Wesley M. A. Ralph Jordan, Jr., 87, of McPherson, KS, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 6, 2022, surrounded by family at McPherson Hospital.&nbsp;

Ralph retired from John’s Manville prior to owning and operating Ralph’s Lawn Care.&nbsp; He then was a driver for Midway Motors and a greeter for Walmart.

Ralph was born on April 28, 1935, in &nbsp;Tulsa, OK, the son of Amiel Ralph Jordan, Sr. and Lucile Lois (Cheairs) Jordan.&nbsp; 

He graduated from Russellville High School in Russellville, AR in 1953.&nbsp;

Ralph was united in marriage to M. Belle (Pletcher) Folck on December 22, 1977, in Russellville, AR.&nbsp; She preceded him in death on December 9, 1989.&nbsp; He married Pat L. (Holt) Guy on July 31, 1993, in McPherson, KS.&nbsp; She passed away May 4, 2018.&nbsp;

He was a member of First United Methodist Church, McPherson.

He is survived by two daughters, Janice Riley (Bob) of Phoenix, AZ and Marsha Rasdon (Gary) of Russellville, AR; two stepdaughters, Lani “Lana” Bowser (Gary) of McPherson, KS and Darla Williams (Bradley) of McPherson, KS; a sister, Pollee Gough (Jim) of Clovis, CA; four grandchildren, Melissa Collins, Daniel Connerly (Sarah), Bryan Connerly (Jessica), and Garren Rasdon; six stepgrandchildren, Kelcey Guy (Holly), Jared Guy, Justin Guy, Shalonda McGill, Shaun Bowser (Izumi), and Cheyann Williams (fiancé, Ben Barber); eight great-grandchildren; nine stepgreat-grandchildren; and many extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wives Belle and Pat; sister Patricia Jackson; stepson Todd Guy; and stepgrandson Cole Bradley Williams.

The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, November 11, 2022, at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Shari Rae (Goering) Henson was born in the McPherson Hospital on April 20, 1973, to Bryce and Irene (Shannon) Goering.&nbsp; She was the third of three children.&nbsp; 

She lived most of her life in McPherson except for four years in Leadville, Colorado, from the fall of 1975 to the fall of 1979.&nbsp; 

Shari was baptized in the First United Presbyterian Church of Leadville on June 5, 1977.&nbsp; 

The family returned to McPherson in 1979, and Shari attended school in the McPherson School district through her senior year, graduating from McPherson High School in 1991.&nbsp; She attended Hutchinson Junior College where she studied office technology.&nbsp; 

On March 8, 2003, she was united in marriage to Richard (Rich) Henson, and they were blessed with a daughter, Hailey Rae, who was the light of their lives.&nbsp; 

Over the years, Shari worked at CertainTeed Mfg., court trustee’s office, McPherson Middle School, Heartland Vet Clinic, and Lincoln Elementary School.&nbsp;

Shari was a member of the First Christian Church in McPherson.

Family was very important to Shari, and she always enjoyed family get-togethers and sharing the holidays with family.&nbsp; She also loved attending all of Hailey’s sporting events, especially her softball games, and enjoyed going to programs and sporting events of her nieces and nephews.&nbsp; She was especially close to her brother and sister, and their children became like her own.&nbsp; Somewhere along the way, Shari developed a green thumb and became the “plant doctor” for friends and family.&nbsp; She especially liked succulents, and the Henson home was always filled with a variety of plants.&nbsp; Shari was also well known by family and friends for giving the best hugs.

After a long and hard-fought battle with kidney cancer, Shari Rae Henson, 49, of McPherson, KS, passed away at 8:45 p.m. on Sunday, November 6, 2022, at her home in McPherson surrounded by family and friends.&nbsp;

She was preceded in death by her father Bryce Goering; her paternal grandparent, Ed and Teresa Goering, and maternal grandparents Kenneth and Wilma Shannon, all of McPherson; one uncle, Gene Shannon of Cassoday, KS; and two aunts, Betty Norris-Madron of McPherson and Bonnie Goering of Kansas City, KS.

Survivors include her loving husband Rich, and daughter Hailey; her mother Irene (Shannon) Goering; her brother Shawn Goering and his wife Kim; her sister Shannon Renee Saverino-Owens and her husband Brad; her brothers-in-law Keith Myers, Jr. and Dean LeGron and his wife Jara, all of McPherson; and a sister-in-law, Roberta Ann Arell of Wichita.&nbsp; There was a special place in her heart for her nieces and nephews.&nbsp; She is also survived by several cousins and a special uncle, Buck Nelson.&nbsp; Shari was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend.&nbsp; She will be sorely missed by her family and friends.

The family would like to thank all those who sent food, participated in fundraisers, and in general, showed their love and care in so many ways.

He graduated from Dodge City High School in 1958, and Colorado State University with a degree in electrical engineering in 1968. During that time Charles served in Army National Guard from 1962 to 1968. Charles was united in marriage to Sharon Dilley in Tempe, Arizona on July 3, 1964. He worked for Bendix (Honeywell) Corporation in Kansas City, Missouri for six years, and later for Combustion Engineering in Abilene, KS for 22 years. He was a member of the St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Abilene. Charles was an avid hunter and reader, enjoying western novels. Charles is survived by wife Sharon of the home, daughter Rhonda Chism and her husband Todd of Olathe, KS, sons Morgan Anderson and his wife Tonia of Lawrence, KS, and Garrett Anderson of Lenexa, KS and six grandchildren, Noelle, Brenna, Branden, Kendra, Cheyenne, and Tristan. Charles passed away Tuesday, November 8, 2022 at the Village Manor Nursing Home in Abilene at the age of 82.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 12, 2022 at the St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Abilene with Father Peter O’Donnell as Celebrant. Florence E. Ryff passed away on Monday, November 7, 2022. 

Funeral services will be Saturday, November 12 at 10:30 a.m at LifeHouse Church, 420 NW 2nd Street in Abilene, Kansas. Danner Funeral Home is handling the arrangements with Marty Colborn as officiate. Florence E. Ryff was born on April 16th, 1940 to William and Lula (Allen) Murrison, weighing just over 4 lbs. Her first “bassinet” was a shoebox.

She was the youngest of six children, Albert, Alice, Doris, Wlliam (Billy) and Margaret. She was of Scottish descent as her father William was born in Scotland and immigrated to the United States at the age of 12 by way of Ellis Island. One of the proudest days of his life was the day he became a United States citizen. Florence attended Chapman schools and graduated from Dickinson County Community High School in 1958. Her favorite classes included math and algebra.

Florence married Dick Ryff on September 25th, 1964. 

She was a homemaker and selflessly dedicated herself to her husband and children. While Dick was at work, she took care of the household and always paid bills in cash (in person). Although she took driving lessons in high school, she never got a driver’s license and never drove a car. If Dick was not available to drive her downtown to pay bills, she would either walk or ride one of her children’s bicycles even if the only one available had a banana seat and sissy bar. 

After her kids had grown, she took a position as dishwasher at Mr. K’s Buckboard and later Pizza Hut to earn a little “bingo money” and she loved bingo (3 times a week!). Florence loved her family and was always interested in what was going on in their lives. Many conversations included a flurry of questions about what they were doing, where they were going and what was for dinner. We will sorely miss those interrogations. Florence was preceded in death by her parents William and Lula; siblings Albert, Alice, Doris, Billy and Margaret, her favorite niece Shirley (who was more like a sister), husband Dick and daughter Jackie.

Survivors include children Vicky (Bud) Elliott, Glenda (Glen) Renz, Brian Ryff, Rod Ryff, Ty (Cathy) Ryff, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Ryff passed away on Monday, November 7, 2022. Funeral services will be Saturday, November 12 at 10:30 a.m at LifeHouse Church, 420 NW 2nd Street in Abilene, Kansas. Danner Funeral Home is handling the arrangements with Marty Colborn as officiate. Florence E. Ryff was born on April 16th, 1940 to William and Lula (Allen) Murrison, weighing just over 4 lbs. Her first “bassinet” was a shoebox. She was the youngest of six children, Albert, Alice, Doris, Wlliam (Billy) and Margaret. She was of Scottish descent as her father William was born in Scotland and immigrated to the United States at the age of 12 by way of Ellis Island. One of the proudest days of his life was the day he became a United States citizen. Florence attended Chapman schools and graduated from Dickinson County Community High School in 1958. Her favorite classes included math and algebra. Florence married Dick Ryff on September 25th, 1964. She was a homemaker and selflessly dedicated herself to her husband and children. While Dick was at work, she took care of the household and always paid bills in cash (in person). Although she took driving lessons in high school, she never got a driver’s license and never drove a car. If Dick was not available to drive her downtown to pay bills, she would either walk or ride one of her children’s bicycles even if the only one available had a banana seat and sissy bar. After her kids had grown, she took a position as dishwasher at Mr. K’s Buckboard and later Pizza Hut to earn a little “bingo money” and she loved bingo (3 times a week!). Florence loved her family and was always interested in what was going on in their lives. Many conversations included a flurry of questions about what they were doing, where they were going and what was for dinner. We will sorely miss those interrogations. Florence was preceded in death by her parents William and Lula; siblings Albert, Alice, Doris, Billy and Margaret, her favorite niece Shirley (who was more like a sister), husband Dick and daughter Jackie. Survivors include children Vicky (Bud) Elliott, Glenda (Glen) Renz, Brian Ryff, Rod Ryff, Ty (Cathy) Ryff, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Ray Shackelford Jr., 72, of Salina, Kan., passed away Sunday, November 6, 2022. He was born March 31, 1950, in Montgomery, Ala. 

Ray was a Vietnam veteran serving in the United States Marine Corps.

Ray liked fishing, cooking BBQ and soul food, listening to his oldies and Motown music, watching sports - especially his football teams - Alabama (Roll Tide) and Dallas Cowboys, and he loved spending time with family and friends.

Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Mary L. (Vinson) Shackelford; daughters Alysia Rena Shackelford and Kimberly (Shackelford) Porter, both of Montgomery, and Teraclesha S. Shackelford and Mary Rachel Shackelford, both of Salina; brothers Eugene Shackelford (Avis) of Montgomery, and Nathaniel Shackelford of Salina; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

He is preceded in death by his mother Mary Rachel (Jones) Shackelford; son Roderick L. Shackelford; daughters Debrah Shackelford and Ramona L. Shackelford; brothers Glenn Shackelford and Charles Jones; and grandparents Ola and Pop Willie Jones.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, November 10, at Ryan Mortuary, Salina, with family present from 4-5. Sara Suzanne "Suzy" Ehrlich Seed, of Salina, died Nov. 4, 2022. She was 59.

Suzy was born Nov. 2, 1963 in Longmont, Colo., to Arthur "Lyle" Ehrlich and Helen "Lorece" Branch Ehrlich. She grew up in Russell and graduated from Russell High School.

On July 16, 1983, she married Joel Seed in Russell. A few years later, they moved to Salina, where they raised their family.

Suzy enjoyed crafting and had a gift for turning random items into art. She liked spending time with her family and tending to her pet chickens.

In addition to her husband and mother, she is survived by her three children: Shannon Shuler (Chris), Seth Seed (Tara), and Stetson Seed (Andrea Jackson). Other survivors include her six grandchildren: Jaylah Buchanan of Texas, Dakota and Raelyn Shuler of Salina, Jaxsen and Jexa Seed and their mother Madison Cox of Abilene, Savannah Bailey and Sami Jo Seed, Salina. She's also survived by her siblings Pam, Teresa and John, and numerous nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Suzy often opened her home to friends and family and treated young people as if they were her own children. Those survivors include Jonah Wolf, Jason Shanley, James Wheeler, and her nieces Angela and Jessica Pozalek.

A memorial service is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 10 at 1 p.m. at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. 8th St., Salina.
