Janette J. (Agin) Gilchrist, 72, left this world, surrounded by love, Sunday, Nov. 3, 2019. She was born March 29, 1947 to Harold F. and Agnes (Curry) Agin (both whom preceded her in death), and married Franklin L. Gilchrist, June 20, 1970.
Janette was a graduate of Sacred Heart High School and Marymount College and taught in the school districts of Kingman, Pratt, and Nickerson. She was a teacher and Community Service Coordinator at Sacred Heart Jr.-Sr. High School for 20 years, and received the Master Catechist Certification from the Salina Catholic Diocese. She was a member of St Mary, Queen of the Universe parish.
Her door was always open, her heart was always listening, and her ability to make something out of nothing was her magical power.
Survived by: her husband; son, Lance (Alison); daughter, Carrie Gilchrist (Nils-Petter Ankarblom); brother, James Agin (Sally); nephew, Scott Agin (Kjersten); stepmother, Arlene Sias-Agin; stepbrother, Pete Sias (Ruth Moritz); stepsister, Kathleen Kelley; and beloved granddaughters, Gracelyn Gilchrist and Agnes “Aggie” Ankarblom.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 11 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Salina, with interment at Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery. There will be no viewing.
Memorials may be made to Sacred Heart Jr.-Sr. High School, and the Lovewell Institute for the Creative Arts Scholarship Fund, in care of Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. 8th St. Salina.
