TESCOTT — Phyllis Ivone Martin, 85, passed away Friday, Oct. 4, 2019 at Brookdale Assisted Living, Salina. She was born July 23, 1934, in Salina, to Russell and Lila (Owing) Light. She graduated from Salina High School. She married John E. Martin, May 26, 1973. They were wed for 30 years before “Jack” passed away Nov. 13, 2003.
Phyllis worked for many years as a secretary-bookkeeper at Elmore’s in Salina and later at the Culver elevator. As a farmwife, Phyllis also performed a myriad of tasks as the “farm gofer”. She enjoyed gardening, handwork, sewing, reading, cooking, and spoiling her grandchildren. She will be remembered for her orneriness, sense of humor, and easy laugh.
Survivors include: daughter, Barb (Rabuck) Moggey (Chris) of Calgary, Alberta, Canada; stepsons, Dave Martin (Mary) and Dean Martin (Val) of Tescott; stepdaughters, Diane Erbacher (George) of Tulsa, Okla., Darlene Martin of Manhattan, and Deb Locke (John Luhrs) of Lawrence; daughters-in-law, Julia Rabuck of Manhattan, and Rhonda Rabuck, of Vernon, British Columbia, Canada; 16 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Phyllis was preceded in death by: her parents; brother, Donald Light; husband, John Martin; sons, Roger and Richard “Rick”; son-in-law, Marlin Locke; and first husband, Bruce Rabuck.
Memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 10, at Ryan Mortuary, Salina. Interment of ashes ceremony will follow at Franklin Cemetery, Tescott.
