Salina Police a seeking a suspect in a case of where the amount on a check was altered and cashed earlier this month after the check was stolen from a mailbox.
An 80-year-old woman tells police she placed a $25 check in the mailbox to pay a bill on September 10th. The same day the check was taken from the mailbox and cashed by a suspect at the Sunflower Bank at 2077 S. Ohio for $2,500.
The woman contacted the bank after receiving her bank statement to discover the amount on the check had been changed.
Captain Paul Forrester said investigators want to check security video to see if the suspect matches up to the Kansas drivers licence number that was put on the check.
