Willis R. “Bill” Cain, 92, of Herington, died Sunday, June 16th, 2019, at the Legacy of Herington care home. He was born on August 30, 1926, at Vick, Louisiana, the son of Joseph Sidney, Sr. and Loy Edith (McCann) Cain.
Funeral Service will be held at 1:30pm Thursday, June 27th, at the Zeiner Funeral Home – Herington Chapel; burial will follow at the Sunset Hill Cemetery, with Military Honors. The family will receive friends from 12:30pm until 1:20pm Thursday, June 27th, at the Zeiner Funeral Home – Herington Chapel.
Mr. Cain was a retired Army Staff Sergeant. Served in the Navy for 4 years during World War II in the Pacific Theater of Action as a Gunners Mate; then enlisted in the Army for 22 years, served in Korea then in Vietnam as a combat medic. He was a member of the American Legion Post #12, and a Past Master of Kansas Lodge #307, AF & AM of Herington.
He married Thelma Jean Sangwin on May 4, 1964, in the Methodist Church, Herington, she preceded in death on February 17, 2019; his 4 brothers: Joseph Cain, Jr, Elton Cain, Hardy Cain, and Gary Cain; and a son Clarke Pace in December 2018.
He is survived 2 sons: Scott Cain (April) of Kill Devil Hills, NC, and Ron Cain (Angel) of Herington; a daughter Sherry Pace (Cheryl) of Draper, Utah; and 7 grandchildren (Chris Pace, Rachael Cain, Nathan Cain, Chris Cain, James Griffin, Teagan Eaton, Bobby Jo Dastrup).
