According to the National Weather Service (NWS), numerous thunderstorms that are occurring across the western Plains will spread east later tonight. The thunderstorms may reach as far east as Lincoln and Lyons by daybreak. The thunderstorms may produce penny-sized hail, 40 to 50 mph winds and heavy rains.
On Tuesday, thunderstorms will increase considerably across central Kansas with several developing across south-central Kansas.
Tuesday night, thunderstorms will occur in all areas. Severe thunderstorms are very likely, with hail around 2 inches, winds around 70 mph, and a few tornadoes. Heavy rains are likely, especially in areas along and east of Interstate 135 Tuesday night. Forecasts should be monitored closely as flood watches may be required.
Scattered thunderstorms remain possible for all areas from Thursday night through Sunday. The greatest severe thunderstorm potential may occur Saturday night. A more detailed forecast is expected mid-week.
