A Salina couple is missing a pistol after a burglary in north-central Salina Monday.
According to Salina Police Captain Paul Forrester, the 45-year-old woman returned to the couple’s home in the 200 block of North Columbia about 2:30 p.m. on Monday. At about 3:15 p.m., she heard a loud noise, but was unable to determine from where it came, he said. The woman also noticed a silver passenger car across the street and recognized it as that of an acquaintance, Forrester said.
When her husband returned home later, he discovered that a Springfield 1911 A1 45 ACP pistol, valued at $635, was missing from a drawer in the couple’s bedroom, Forrester said.
Two doors to the home were left unlocked and the couple believes that is how the burglar got in, Forrester said.
Police are pursuing a lead concerning a person who may be the suspect in the case, he added.
