Three youths were injured in a two-vehicle accident Monday evening in south Salina.
Salina Police Captain Paul Forrester said Tuesday that shortly before 6:45 p.m. Tuesday, a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Daxton Conard, 17, of Salina, was northbound in the 1900 block of South Ninth when it turned in front of a southbound 2008 Ford Taurus driven by Michele Woody, 38, of Salina. The Taurus struck the passenger side of the pickup, he said.
A 17-year-old unnamed male who was a passenger in the Silverado was transported to Salina Regional Health Center (SRHC) with knee pain, Forrester said. Two children, ages 5 and 11, who were passengers in the Taurus, were checked at the scene by an EMS crew, but were not transported to SRHC, he said. A 17-year-old unnamed female passenger in the Silverado was not reported as being injured.
All persons in both vehicles were properly restrained, Forrester added.
Conard was cited for failure to yield the right-of-way when making a left turn, Forrester said.
The pickup had extensive damage to the passenger side and had to be towed, while the Taurus had extensive damage to the entire front end and also was towed, Forrester said.
