Captain Paul Forrester said Police were sent to the Dillon’s Superstore about 8:25 p.m. on the report a battery and attempted shoplifting. Employee 32-year-old Corey Brown stopped Shaun Brown at the front of the store when Shaun Brown tried to leave with a cart of items valued at $180. When Corey Brown asked for a receipt and Shaun Brown could not produce one, an argument began and Shaun Brown then pulled brass knuckles out of his pocket and Hit Corey Brown in the head, before leaving the area on foot.
Police apprehended Shaun Brown a short time later in the area of the Chapel Ridge Apartments. The brass knuckles fell out of Brown’s pants when he was taken into custody. Corey Brown had a large contusion and cut on his head. It’s not known if he received medical attention.
Shaun Brown was booked into the Saline County Jail on requested charges of aggravated battery, theft, criminal use of a weapon, and felony interference of law enforcement officers. There was also an warrant for the arrest of Brown from the Kansas Department of Corrections.
