She graduated from St. Joseph high School in Olpe, Kansas. She married Richard L. Gennette on January 5, 1952 in Olpe, Kansas, and he died on April 4, 1985 in Garden City. Marge moved to Garden City in 1975 from Scott City. She previously lived in Garden City in 1969 and 1970. She also lived in Liberal, Coffeyville, Ed Dorado, & Wichita. Marge was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Garden City where she was active in many parish activities. She was also a member of the Daughters of Isabella and the Newman Study Club.
Survivors include two sons, Stephen Gennette of Kingsland, Texas and Lawrence & wife Laniete Gennette of Garden City; a grandson Daniel Gennette of Garden City; a great-granddaughter Paige Gennette of Salina, Kansas; two brothers, Bro. Michael Haag O.F.M. of St. Michaels, Arizona and Richard Haag of Emporia, Kansas; six sisters, Phyllis Wilson, Marilyn Allen, & Wilma Flattery all of Wichita, Kansas, Elizabeth Geraghty of Emporia, Kansas, Anita Burenheide of Olpe, Kansas, and Carol Hurley of Dallas, Texas; a sister-in-law Pam Haag of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; and numerous nieces and nephews. Marge is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, four brothers, and 1 sister.
A rosary will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Garden City. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 24, 2019 also at St. Mary Catholic Church in Garden City with Fr. Charles Seiwert as Celebrant. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City. Friends may call from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday and from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Tuesday all at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City. The family suggests memorials given to St. Mary Catholic Church, the Emmaus House, or to the Franciscan’s all in care of Garnand Funeral Home of Garden City.
