A man wanted on a probation violation warrant was arrested after leading police on a chase through north Salina late Sunday morning.
Salina Police Captain Paul Forrester said Monday that an officer was in the 600 block of East North Street when the officer observed a gold Chevrolet SUV traveling eastbound on North Street in excess of 55 mph in a 30 mph zone. The officer attempted to stop the vehicle at North and Ohio, but the SUV headed south on Ohio, then west on Elm, the north on Columbia, Forrester said.
The officer was able to stop the vehicle and make contact with the driver near the intersection of Columbia and Riverside, Forrester said. The driver, Dusty Fairbanks, 31, of Salina, was arrested on suspicion of speeding, flee and elude, and driving while suspended, as well as on the probation violation warrant.
