Spring has sprung and there is a chance for thunderstorms today through tonight.
According to the National Weather Service office in Wichita, strong storms are possible late Saturday afternoon and early Saturday evening, generally along and west of Interstate 135.
Isolated severe storms will also be possible during the late afternoon across south central Kansas. The main risks will be nickel to quarter size hail and strong to locally damaging wind gusts of 50 to 60 mph.
Sunday through Friday, warmer air and gusty southerly winds on Wednesday and Thursday may elevate the grassland fire danger across the area, mainly during the afternoon hours into the early evening.
The chances for showers and embedded thunderstorms return for Thursday night. Any storm the develops is not expected to be strong or severe.
