An incident in central Salina late Tuesday night sent two people to the hospital and one person to jail.
Salina Police Captain Paul Forrester said Wednesday that a 22-year-old male and a 19-year-old female began arguing outside a residence in the 900 block of Greeley Avenue at approximately 10 p.m. The woman reported to police that after they went inside the residence, the male began kicking and punching her, and at one point, grabbed her from behind and began strangling her, Forrester said.
At that point, the woman’s 14-year-old brother came out of his bedroom and confronted the male, Forrester said. The male pinned the teen to the floor, punched him, and stomped on him with a boot, Forrester added.
The male left the residence, but was located a short time later by a sheriff’s lieutenant at the intersection of East Walnut and Oakdale Drive, Forrester explained. It was there that police arrested Austin Warford, 22, of Salina, on suspicion of aggravated domestic battery and battery, Forrester said.
Forrester said that the teen complained of pain on the left side of his face, swelling on his jaw, and a lump on his upper head, while the female complained of a swollen lip, a laceration on her lower lip, swelling above her left eye, and pain in her stomach. Both were transported to Salina Regional Health Center for medical evaluation, Forrester said.
