In the end, picking the underdogs and team loyalty helped Jeffrey Stone win the grand prize in the Anesthesia Associates Gridiron Glory competition.
Stone, of Salina, stopped by Eagle Communications of Salina Tuesday to pick up his $1,000 prize for winning the local contest. Stone finished the Gridiron Glory season, which went through the Super Bowl, with a score of 197.
The 21-week Gridiron Glory contest was made possible by Anesthesia Associates, Salina Ortho, Smoky River Meats, All Star Lanes, and Glavan Ford of Clay Center.
Additionally, Stone won the Survivor Challenge component of Gridiron Glory.
Stone said that most of the season, he just picked the teams he thought would win. When the playoffs got into the conference championships, however, he picked the underdogs: the New England Patriots and the Los Angeles Rams. At that point, Stone was leading the local Gridiron Glory players. Stone secured his first-place standing by picking the Patriots — his favorite team — in the Super Bowl.
As for his prize, Stone said he plans to “sock it away” so that he has some money when he needs it for something he wants.
Congratulations, Jeffrey, on your successful Gridiron Glory season!
