It’s going to be cold with a chance for wintry precipitation this weekend.
Wind chills of zero to 5 below are forecast across central Kansas and the Flint Hills late tonight and into early Saturday morning, according to the National Weather Service office in Wichita (NWSW).
After a sunny day with a high near 38, yet wind chill values as low as 1 below on Saturday, a wintry precipitation is forecast late Saturday night and Sunday morning across much of the area. Light freezing drizzle appears most likely, especially across southeast Kansas.
There also are periodic chances for a wintry precipitation Sunday night through Monday night over central and south central Kansas. Freezing drizzle appears more likely Sunday night and early Monday, with light snow more likely Monday night.
By Wednesday, the forecast is sunny with a high near 56, then another period of colder weather begins.
