No one was injured in a fire that engulfed a metal storage building Sunday evening in north Salina.
Salina Fire Investigator Joe Kvacik said Monday that the metal-sided building was fully engaged when firefighters got to the scene on North Broadway, just east of the intersection with Chicago Street. He said the building was used as storage by the Treasure Chest.
The fire was reported shortly before 6 p.m Sunday.
A dog that had been inside was found in a pen adjacent to the building and was unharmed, Kvacik said. No humans were injured in the incident, he said.
Kvacik said firefighters extinguished the outside of the building, then pulled the metal siding off and continued working on hotspots. At one point, half the roof caved in, he said.
The fire remains under investigation, Kvacik said.
