Carl Knuth Fengel Jr., 87, passed away Thursday, January 10th, at the Village Manor in Abilene. He was born February 8, 1931 in Abilene, the son of Carl Knuth Fengel Sr. and Mary Elizabeth (Bangerter) Fengel.
Growing up in Abilene and Oakhill, Carl attended local schools and graduated from Longford High School with the class of 1949.
On April 6, 1952 he married Lorene Fay Lash. All their married life was spent on the Fengel Farm east of Oakhill. Carl enjoyed his grand children, hunting, fishing, and gardening.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; a great-grand son, Tanner Jefferis and a sister, Jean Trumble.
Carl is survived by: his wife, Lorene Fay Fengel of Abilene; two daughters, Janis (Ron) Jackson of Oakhill; Janet (Don) Hedden of Abilene; son, Michael (Jeanie) Fengel of Clay Center; seven grandchildren, Kellie Jackson, Jenny Jackson, Whitney Gilbert, Emily Hedden, Mandy Elzinga, Knuth Fengel, Katie Kniter; eleven great-grandchildren and a sister, Mary Ann Myer of Bethalto, Illinois.
The family has chosen cremation. Graveside services will be held 10:30 AM Thursday, January 17th at the Rose Meron Cemetery north of Longford with Pastor Roland Slater officiating.
