CONCORDIA — Cloud County Community College’s small Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Systems (sUAS) program will be offering a free workshop in January to teach the ins and outs of drone ownership.
The workshop will be on January 12, from 9:30 a.m. -12:30 p.m. at the college’s Wind Energy Composite Lab, which is located behind the Holiday Inn Express.
Drones are one of the hottest new products on the market, and are being used by hobbyists, business owners, government agencies, and in agriculture. The prices for drones have decreased significantly over the past few years, while the capabilities and improvements in technology have skyrocketed.
This workshop will help drone owners with many questions they may have about their new drone, such as: Where a drone can be flown; whether it needs to be registered with the FAA; and how high and fast a drone can be flown, along with many other informational items.
The informational workshop will be conducted by two of the sUAS program’s licensed remote pilot instructors. They will also introduce Cloud County’s new drone club, CCCC UAVs, which will be open for community participation in the near future.
To register for the workshop, contact Laura Leite, Business and Industry coordinator, at firstname.lastname@example.org, or by phone at 785.243.1435, ext. 374.
The deadline to register is January 5.
