A Salina man was taken to Salina Regional Health Center (SRHC) Tuesday morning after a car he was driving hydroplaned and struck a light pole on East Crawford.
According to Salina Police Captain Paul Forrester, Quentin Penn, 23, of Salina, was eastbound on Crawford in a 2004 Ford Focus at approximately 10:20 a.m. Tuesday. As the car approached the intersection of Crawford and Roach, it began to hydroplane, sliding across the center line and over the curb on the northeast corner, striking a light pole, Forrester said. The light pole then fell on a 2016 Mazda SUV in the Sankey Auto Center lot at 801 E. Crawford, causing damage to the right front bumper, he said.
The Ford Focus had to be towed from the scene and Penn was taken to SRHC with seatbelt and airbag deployment injuries, Forrester said. Penn was cited for not driving at speeds that are reasonable and prudent for the conditions, Forrester added.
