1-2 Family Dwellings & Townhomes
Effective June 17, 2013, code requirements contained in Appendix F,
Radon Control Methods, of the 2006 International Residential Code
must be met when constructing new one and two family dwellings
and new townhomes.
Per Appendix F of the International Residential Code, Section
AF103.9 Vent pipe identification:
All exposed and visible interior radon vent pipes
shall be identified with at least one label on each
floor and in accessible attics. The label shall
read: “Radon Reduction System”.
Labels are to be in place at the time of the rough inspection.
If labels are not in place at the time of the rough inspection the
inspection will not be performed and a re-inspection fee will be
charged to the contractor.
Note: The “T” into the drain tile for the vertical vent piping will be
inspected at time of the under slab inspection and then the labels will
again be verified at time of final inspection.
