Two teenage boys face burglary, theft and damage to property charges after they are accused of causing nearly $20,000 in damage in and around the Salina Municipal Golf Course between late Wednesday night and Thursday morning.
Salina Police Captain Mike Sweeney says 15 year old Daniel Sims of 505 NW 7th in Abilene and 15 year old Tristen Howard of 737 Fairdale 5-A are alleged to have broke into the concession stand at the East Crawford Recreation Area and took soft drinks and candy and $50 cash and caused $600.
At the Salina Municipal Golf Course the pair are alleged to have broke into a maintenance building took two pickup trucks out and drove them on the golf course damaging the course and caused $3,000 to one of the truck. They also took three maintenance carts and drove them on the golf course causing damage to the course and carts.
They also caused $2,000 damage at a construction site near the golf course.
The two ran from Police when they arrived at the golf course and were taken into custody Thursday afternoon after information in a backpack led to the two boys.
After they were arrested they were released to the custody of the parents.
