NEWTON – Five top-10 finishers and seven of the top 13 runners would lead to a dominant performance by the number three nationally ranked Cloud County Community College women's cross country team as part of the 2020 Tabor College Cottonwood Challenge team and individual titles at Harvey County East Park in Newton on Saturday.
No other team would put up much of a threat to the T-Birds as CCCC finished the meet with a team total of 29 points, 44 points better than second place finisher and meet host Tabor College who finished with 73 points. Kansas Wesleyan would take third in the seven team meet with 94 points in a tiebreaker with Friends University who also finished with 94 points while Newman (97 points), Southwestern College (142 points), and Bethany College (182 points) rounding out the field.
In the individual 5K race, it would be another race win for sophomore Patricia Koma with a time of 19:32.55 to take the race by nearly 14 seconds while Kya Johnson would earn a fifth-place finish with a time of 20:20.25. Coming in sixth in the race would be Ludjenie Mondesir (20:21.57) just ahead of seventh-place Pamela Milano (20:24.03) while Maryse Mbenoun earned a 10th place finish in a time of 20:53.81.A 12th place finish from Emma Holthaus (21:12.88) and 13th place finish from Abbey Hoover (21:15.43) would round out the T-Bird runners in the 58-runner field.
