COFFEYVILLE – Offensive struggles to start the second half would prove costly for the Cloud County Community College women's basketball team in a 73-56 road defeat to Coffeyville Community College in Nellis Hall in Coffeyville on Wednesday.

The loss drops Cloud County to 7-13 overall and 2-8 in the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference while the Red Ravens have won four straight to surge up the KJCCC East Division and improve to 17-3 overall and 7-3 in the KJCCC.

It would be an efficient shooting performance from Coffeyville as the Red Ravens would go 26-for-58 (44.8 percent) from the field while Cloud County would finish 23-of-61 (37.7 percent) from the floor after starting the game 12-for-26 (46.2 percent) in the first half. Rebounding would also go in favor of Coffeyville by a margin of 42-31 to erase a 12-9 advantage in second-chance points and 12-8 advantage in points off turnovers for Cloud County.

Leading the T-Birds offensively would be freshman Jacy Dalinghaus who would score 13 points and grab five rebounds while Alyssa Castilleja finished in double-digits for the fourth time this season by netting 10 points. Coffeyville would use a balanced scoring effort, with three starters in double-figures and four players total.

What's next?

A short two-game road swing will conclude on Saturday when Cloud County returns to southeast Kansas to take on Cowley Community College at 5:30 p.m. in Arkansas City. The Tigers will enter the game with a 15-5 overall record and 5-5 mark in the KJCCC after dropping a 71-67 decision to Neosho County Community College on Wednesday.
