On Monday, April 22, at approximately 6 p.m., a known suspect stole roughly $5,808 worth of property from a residence in Salina.

According to Salina Police Department Capt. James Feldman, officers responded to an apartment complex located in the 2100 block of East Crawford Street for reports of a burglary.

The 33-year-old victim told officers the suspect, who also lives in the residence, stole tablets, speakers, a home projector, a camera, a couple of wedding bands, a leather-banded watch, a drill, a charger, a 65-inch TV, and some clothing.

The victim's roommate was identified as 51-year-old Walter Shields.

"The victim reported that on Thursday, April 11, he left the residence and locked the door to his room," Feldman said. "When he returned on the 22nd, the locks had been changed, and items were missing."

Feldman said when officers located Shields, they also discovered several of the missing items.

Feldman said Shields was arrested on requested charges of burglary and theft, however, officers are continuing to investigate.

"We are still investigating this further. There are some other people to speak with," Feldman said.

Salina Post will update the story as more information becomes available.
