A vehicle fire in rural Saline County resulted in the loss of a newly purchased Jeep for a Cave Junction, Oregon, man.
Saline County Undersheriff Brent Melander said this morning that emergency personnel were called to the 5300 block of W. Shipton Road at approximately 11:49 a.m. Tuesday, for a reported vehicle on fire. When they arrived, a 1988 Jeep Wrangler was fully engulfed in flames. The driver, Shadd Boese, 43, of Cave Junction, Oregon, was able to exit the vehicle safely when the fire started.
Melander said Boese had just purchased the Jeep from someone in Minneapolis. Boese was driving it when he heard a pop and flames erupted. Rural Fire District 7 personnel responded to the blaze but were unable to save the Jeep. Total loss was estimated at $1,300. Firefighters found nothing suspicious about the blaze, Melander said.
